Lazing Around on A Snowy Day

The photos I took recently of this were just horrid so I tried again today to get a better picture of that plant shelf. I lifted all the blinds in the living room and fully opened the vertical blinds in the dining area to get as much light as I could and this is the best I could do. I also didn't do the "feathering" effect with my PhotoShop on these to allow it to appear more natural. Plus it snowed the night before so the ground was white and reflecting more light in than usual. Sorry state of affairs with the lighting in this house. I plan on getting solar tubes put in as soon as I can afford it. I may have to do some serious "nights of wild abandon" for this one though. *Sigh*.....

From this to...

...this.

Closer view.

Farther view from across the room.

View outside my lacy front window this morning.

I think I'll go have a cup of hot cocoa and write some promised letters. Till next time, chicks.

Noooooo, wait a minute here. Do you know the meaning of frustration? Well, I'm here to tell ya.

Frustration is tracking your new computer and seeing that it's "on truck out for delivery to house" by FedEx today, waiting and waiting. Then sitting here I see the FedEx truck outside and jump up to go to the door—seeing the truck pulling away and no package on the front porch because it needs to be signed for before they'll leave it on the porch. I didn't hear the doorbell or catch him on my camera sitting near my desk displaying the front door! I quickly call FedEx to ask them to call him to come back. After a couple of minutes, the customer service lady tells me he doesn't have a cell phone! Now, every body that breathes on the North American continent, plus most other continents with the exception of Antarctica MAYBE, has a cell phone. Every illegal has a cell phone. Every kid over the age of 18 months has a cell phone. But NOT my FedEx man?!?!?!? Aaaaaarrrgggghhhh. Another day of sitting home waiting for my new computer.....*Sigh*.....

Making Something Out of Almost Nothing

After Christmas when I was taking the tree down I didn't really want to put away some of the stuff, but Love Bunny convinced me it was for the best since we live in limited space. I cried but relented, chicks. This was, of course, after I gave him the evil eye! But nothing to do about it...

...or is there?

During a visit by our home teachers from the church, we were given this HUGE canister of pistachios. Those are my favorite nuts. Love Bunny and I proceeded posthaste to diminish the contents of the canister. (For those of you in Rio Linda, we pigged out on pistachios.) Then when it was empty and I was taking the roses and little card stock flowers I made from off the tree I had an idea: rather than put them with the other paper roses I decided to fill the canister with them as a display and then come next year they'll all be together. Am I brilliant or what?! They now adorn the coffee table in our family room.

Victorian Red Rose Wreath Giveaway for Pink Saturday 1/16/09

No matter what your beliefs on religion or politics, the people of Haiti need our prayers. What a devastating thing to happen to God's children. And they are children of God. Please offer prayers and any relief you can for these poorest of poor people. May God bless the children who are left not only homeless but orphans. My heart truly does cry for them.
~*~

As usual here, it's another Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly of HowSweetTheSound. So go visit the other participants. I went to so many new ones last week I can't name them all.
~*~

Some of the sweet sisters in my eBay group also love the darker colors for their homes as do I. It depends on what it is and where it's to be placed in my home, but I definitely love those colors. I have a plethora of these silk roses left over from some crafts of the past so I thought I'd come up with another tree topper wreath. But this one is for you, chicks. Yesssss, it's another giveaway for this silver and garnet colored roses wreath. You can use it on your tree next year or simply decorate something in your home with it. It is the same size as the one I have on my white, pink and roses Christmas tree. Rules are the same as posted here.

OOoooooh, and winner will be drawn monday night, Jan. 18th at 6 pm mountain time.

Puttering Again with Clothespins

Join Claudia in celebrating and finding beauty.

And also, you probably won't want to miss tomorrow's Pink Saturday blog post!
~*~

Puttering again while hubs is out recently. I truly meant to just sit and read as I was so stuffed up from a sinus attack I could barely breath, but I don't let that keep a good woman down, now do I?? So I froufrou-ed up these little clothes pink since I have a plethora of them in my laundry room. I've TOLD you that if it is in this house it is froufrou-ed up, didn't I? I don't speak lightly on these things, chicks. Everything that can be beautiful IS beautiful here at the old ranch. ;-)

But, since I'm running out of spending money (Yesssss, can you believe it? Squeeeeeal and bleeeeeechhhh! and :-( and hubs is always asking me why I keep making stuff), I'm going to sell some of these at a very nominal price. If you have any interest, go here to find them. Ribbon, rick rack, roses and rhinestones.

The other sides have decoupaged flowers on them.

This is a completely different batch as he came home and left again so it was back to crafting. I used a string of old sequins on some of them, chenille rick rack on others, trim on some and some exquisite embroidered french ribbon on one. I don't have much left of that ribbon and cannot find it anymore. Oooops, I noticed the one pin is turned on its side.

There, that's much better. ;-)

Crafting Little "Sweets"

A few weeks ago I was taking a simple break from the stresses of housekeeping. BUT as we all know, I can NOT do nothing. I have to keep busy doing something or I'll grow old. ;-) So I took some little styrofoam balls and tied some netting and some pretty fabric around them to froufrou up the cheese and bread I was taking to an open house get together at a friend's house. Easy to do and looked elegant along with the tree topper centerpiece I used on the tray.

Then I went shopping with Love Bunny and bought him a new pink check shirt and 2 new ties. My man is the snappiest dresser in our neighborhood! I told him he can't lose if he lets me select his wardrobe. I love these 2 combinations together. They look really good on him. Girls, dress your man GQ and they'll love ya for it!
