Creating and Gettin' th' Boot!

Yes, I have been praying very hard for this heel/foot to heal quickly and my prayers were answered. I can now walk, but only with this boot. Let me tell you this is one high tech boot. Whereas my foot in the splint had to be sort of sloped to a downward angle, in the boot is has to be sloped up a bit. He put it on and that had to do some adjustments to it with some steel braces on the side. But at least I'm mobile once again. It doesn't hurt as much as I thought it would to bear weight on that foot. But the tendon is still healing as he had to detach it from the bone and reattach it when done. So we're stretching it slowly over the next few weeks. Slow, small adjustments.

I have to tell you my leg has withered a great deal. The doctor said it only takes a few weeks for the muscles to come back though. Happy ME!

I'm taking these photos with my foot in the boot. It's a hot thing to wear but I am able to sleep without it and sit in a chair watching my action movies that have been lent to me.

I watched this message on my Church's website and am offering it to you all to view as it talks about creating. I think it says it all and what is truly in my heart. I think it will stir your heart also.

Dieter Uchtdorf is in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He's a pilot by profession.

Sorry for no eye candy but now that I can get around more, I'll be photographing again. :-) :-) :-) Can you tell I'm thrilled?!

Pink Saturday 5/29/2010

Happy Pink Saturday and congratulations to Beverly of How Sweet The Sound for hosting it for two years now. It's the 2nd anniversary of PS. I wish to thank you profusely, Beverly, for taking on this enormous task.

I visited with Tracy of Honeysuckle and HissyFits and LV of Livinatmemescorner.
~*~

Also I want to encourage you all to visit this blog post about the new Collection of Romantic/Lifestyle Blogs I've just started. It's all about getting the word out. Visit it and read it very carefully and join if you wish.
~*~

Okay, okay, I've been extremely busy with life, but I did want to participate because of the 2nd anniversary. So, I just thought I'd share more photos of one of my favorite artist's paintings. Aren't they romantic and serene and wonderful? How could you NOT be enchanted with these hanging on your walls?

Oh, all right, let's see some more pretty photos I've collected over the years.

Back in the 80s when I saw this I made a topiary like this one out of dried roses so it would keep forever. I don't have it now and have no idea what I did with it. It probably got lost in our moves.

Just a sweet little cottage kitchen a man who lives here renovated. See, men DO like romantic settings also.

I have always and will continue to always love checks—the large ones!

When I saw this chair I thought I just might pass out! Another brave woman who loves pink. ;-0

This chair is the one that inspired me to get the one similar to it that is in my living room. I absolutely love this one with its red color against a yellow background. As I've said before, pink and/or red is my favorite color combination—mostly pink, but this is beautiful.

A little antiques shop in San Francisco. Sqeeeeeeeeal, look at that little lamp and that bureau. Ooooohmy!

Isn't it outstanding?

And again, happy anniversary to Beverly! Great job handling all of us. ;-)

A Few Thoughts About My Blog and Blogging

Aren't these cards gorgeous? I have them in the short hallway into the laundry room and bedroom. I just love looking at them.

I was making things for the new princess to be born in just a couple of weeks. I had this idea for a bib for our soon-to-be-born Miss "A" and got busy on it today while hubs was away.

I made this little bib, booties and shoes for a lady in our ward who is expecting her first girl after having 2 boys. She probably doesn't have a thing froufrou-y with 2 very boyish boys so I had to do something, right? The reverse side is a beautiful pink paisley.

I travel around the blogs and some things I see just don't make sense. Bloggers who have multiple ads on their blog and don't blog so much as advertise. I guess it depends on what blogging means.

I don't have the energy or the dishes to do a table setting once a week! Where do they find the settings to do it every week? I just bought some plastic dishes from Target and Wal Mart and am loving them but I doubt seriously anyone would want to see them in a table setting.

I see vignettes and tablescapes but don't join in very much because, let's face it, once you've seen my home, you've seen it!

Then I came across a blogger who has some similar sentiments as I do.

My blog centers around home decorating, some crafting (a lot lately!), a few random thoughts about my funny, witty and humorous life and my outlook on life. As with her, my home is the center of my world. As with her, I relish getting my mail in the morning. I want to go out to the mailbox and retrieve it myself. Since being retired, Love Bunny is trying to usurp that from me and I'm rebelling! I told him the mail is my "responsibility." Also if he sees an ad, he'll fall for it and buy something we don't need. I'm the "keeper of the home" in this house. Don't try and take that away from me. I relish my job.

As with her, I have a modest following and have giveaways. I love having them. I also want the people that follow me to have the bigger possibility of receiving the prize. Believe it or not, I had a giveaway once, emailed the woman, announced it on here and she never responded. So I gave it to a friend who I knew would have loved to have it. I'm not going to beg you to take my giveaway.

As with her, promoting myself has always been hard to do but I've sucked it up a bit and asked for help. AND I've received it from some gracious bloggers. I'd promote your blog if you asked me to do it, and I'd do it for nothing! I do relatively few ads and I get a request from several but I don't want it to be about ads. I want it to be easy to read, delightful, helpful, funny, beautiful—because I DO live beautifully.

I love blogging. It's a creative outlet for me as much as crafting and making beautiful things for my home. I love doing the photography because it helps me expand my horizons. I love the writing of the blog itself. It helps me hone my skills, and it keeps my brain active. I also enjoy sharing beautiful things with the readers. I want it to make someone happy and be a visual feast for them.

Another Day In The Life Of....3/24/2010

First of all, some eye candy for ya because it ain't purdy after this, chicks! Still experimenting with paper roses.

~*~

Have you ever had one of those days when nothing goes as you've planned? Ooooops, sorry, I know that's a silly question, but this was one of those days and when it happens it just feels like you're the "first and only" woman in the universe to have experienced it. I know, I know, it happens all the time to moms. I said I was sorry! Oh well. So a scheduled trip to the chiropractor for a monthly adjustment turned into a day spent out and about and not home doing the things I wanted: changing sheets and crafting.

Since we were right next to a new optometrist and optical shop new to the 'hood, Love Bunny and I decided to stop in and get new glasses. A new exam was in order since it had been a 12 to 18 months since our last exam and glasses. This total today cost us $475.00 total for both of us. Do you see little dollars flying out of my debit card at this point?

Luckily I had my new camera along to photograph this happy event for posterity. ;-) The first photo shows the "retro" tray I was interested in.

This is the pair I selected. Look at my photo on the "About Me" page and you'll see me sporting almost the same glasses about 40 years ago. I loved those glasses and things cycle around every 30 or 40 years, so what the heck. I'll model them soon.

This is the pair Love Bunny decided on with a little nudging and much flattery from me. He looks darling in them. Not so old-manish.

Now, we all know how thrilled LB gets when I drag th' cam along to record for posterity my daily activities. Bleeeech is pretty much his attitude. See the darling man smiling for me below. Uh huh. Yeah, ya got it, chicks. It took a lot of coercing just to get that good a picture of him. Actually, I think he was trying his best to ignore me after chucking him under the chin. I promised I'd crop his "waddles" out of the pictuuuuure....DUH! Isn't he caaaauuuute, chicks???? :-) And he's all mine, at least he was before I started the picture taking. We'll see later if he forgives me, but he knows how I am with my camera. Sigh.....

This is Love Bunny "smiling." Can ya see th' smile? Trust me, it's the best he could muster up for me. I think murder actually came to his mind during this excursion.

Aha, there it is: the smirk. He's warming up. These are the new glasses. Rounder and most in fashion.

And another smirk that turned into a smile. Yep! He's back in his good mood.

Now, not to be done embarrassing him, I proceeded to take photos around EyeMart to his further mortification. Aren't these little eyeglass cases adorable? How could I NOT photograph them, hmmmmm?! Fuchsia polka dots! Whooooooa. Darling.

Leopard.

Black and white polka dots. Perfect fashion accessory for spring.

Yellow retro.

Soooooo 1960s lime green retro. Gag me with a spoon.

Orange and black retro for that halloween look. Gag....... But cute!

And it was all I could do to not buy this little red eyeglass caddy. Squeeeeeeeeal!! But I figured I'd done enough damage to our bank account for one day and LB wasn't looking too lovingly at me by this time. I think I embarrassed him. Nuuuuuuu, couldn't be.

Here is the optician tech that helped us. AND LB actually invited her to go to lunch with us at Olive Garden which was just a short walk from there. I'd have certainly welcomed her to go along but she refused. I think I'll go knee-cap him for sure tonight.

Okay, I finally took a shower and got this picture of the new glasses. Ain't I caaauuuute?!?! *Wink* and *Grin*!! And if you think getting a flattering photo up close like this is easy, guess again. *Sigh*.....
Either I need to brush my hair again or I need a haircut. Sheeeeesh....

Okay, this is even better when I took it as I was getting ready for church another day. Full blown closeup with all the wrinkles showing. These glasses are almost like the ones on the 40 yr. old photo on my profile page. Maaaaaan, have I changed or what!!

Making Up My Mind on a Project

I have this vision in my head of what I want to do with this little dress form but just not ready to start it yet. (Do any of you have this same problem: trying to figure out what to do creatively with something?) Working on another project at the moment. Is there ever enough time to do what we want to do? Right now my house is a shambles from the holidays and it's driving me nuts because I had to "store" some tables from the living room in my craft/sewing room to be able to put up the tree. For an OCD chick, this is torture! Love Bunny does NOT understand. I may have to shoot him!

Okay, I took a break for several days and this is what I think I want to do with it. It is all pinned on at the moment but I like it.

It would make a sweet valentine gift for a friend I think—a froufrou chick, maybe. Hmmmmm.........
