Pink Saturday 12/11/2010

First of all, I want to update you on our son's condition because some of you have kind enough to ask. Most of you newbies to my blog will not know what I'm talking about so if you'd like you can go here Keith's Trial and see what he went through last year.

He is still having vertigo from the gang beating along with migraines. About a week ago he had to go to the emergency room. He was in such bad shape they gave him 3 liters of water for hydration. He hadn't eaten for 2 days because while trying to put in a new sink in his kitchen and going under and above for that length of time the vertigo and migraine was intense.

But the sad part is that the trial for 2 of the men resulted in a hung jury. We cannot believe how it could have ended like that when the video from the convenience store was so readily available and showed the beating. I asked him how he felt about seeing it for the first time as the police wouldn't let him see it before the trial. He said it just happened so fast he couldn't believe it. So he'll have to go through another trial for these gang members. We're very sad to say the least. Such is the justice system that the perpetrators have it so easy.

I have a sweet friend, Lorena, who has a gorgeous blue formal
dining room very similar to this one. Though I do love blue, she loves the color much more than I do. I think this and hers are gorgeous though.

While this isn't especially the shabby chic romantic style, it is still froufrou-y and feminine. And I like it.

Here's that Chesterfield sofa I love so much, but in a plain white fabric but with nail headtrim. While it is the same sofa, with a different fabric and different pillows it doesn't look formal; it looks more Americana.

I love these chairs also. When I get ready to buy, it will be from Ethan Allen, but I may have a hard time deciding on these and another style I like.

The harlequin pattern draws me every time. I don't know why but I just love it mixed in with the romantic style. The diamond is reflected in the coffee table, the points on the window coverings and the decorative boxes on the lamp table.

Another romantic bedroom I knew you'd love to see. I have a chandelier that I'm having a friend paint in exchange for lifetime use of my Cricut machine. I think it's a fair trade since she's a talented perfectionist. I have this "thing" for chandeliers. ;-)

Even an old basket full of spotted just-picked apples can make a fashion statement. Plus red rooms are lovely and very inviting.

French country is especially loved among you bloggers. I also love French and English styles, but I think Americans have as much style, while lacking in the antiques available to the French and English though. Just beautiful.

I have no doubt this room will appeal to some of you. To me, it looks like homes we would find in the south. Just from books on southern style and looking at the blogs, the southern part of the U.S. tends much more toward formality as does the northeast, while out west here we tend more toward relaxing style.

Different view of the same room. It's very symmetrical and I love symmetrical rooms. Asymmetrical rooms throw me off balance. They are rarely a favorite of mine although I've seen some I like.

  1. Connie, I had completely forgotten about what happened with Kieth. Wow, what a very frustrating verdict.

  2. So sorry to hear about your son! My son had migraines, although not at all from an injury. His DR suggested using Feverfew with Advil...two of each, every 4 hours. He said it would not only work better on the migraines, but would actually reduce the number and intensity over time. And it worked beautifully! He went from ER visits for them every few weeks (age age 8!) to no migraines at all within 4 months. Not sure if it would work with injury-based ones, though.

Sending prayers for your son...and understanding for how frustrating that verdict must have been.

  3. Lovely pictures. I do hope the gang members that did that to your son will get lots of jail time. I hope the vertigo and the migraines will go away for him too. I will pray that the 2nd trial will give Keith the justice he deserves.

  6. Connie,

I am so upset to read what happened at the trial. I just don't understand this country. How could they have a hung jury when they could see for themselves that he was beaten up?

Please know that I am always thinking of you. Prayers for all of you and your children. Gosh we are all having a rough time of it these days!

Happy Pink Saturday just the same sweet pea,

    xo Cathy

p.s. I can't believe I beat you to signing up for Pink Saturday. LOL

  10. Love those romantic bedrooms - above all, they're comfortable! Somewhere you can't wait to sleep in, because you know you WILL get a good night's sleep (I suffer terribly from insomnia).

So sorry to hear about your son - I hope he recovers soon (and hires a plumber next time - there's such a thing as being TOO independent).

    Happy Pink Saturday!

  11. So sorry about Keith and your families frustrations. Did the jury even see the video? A lot of times the defense really holds stuff back or won't allow it in evidence. We will keep him in our prayers.

I'm sure posting those lovely rooms distracted you for a while. They are gorgeous.

  12. Hi Sweets! I'm so saddened to hear of Keith's latest experience at the ER. Hope he is better today.

Love all the pics you posted. Quite possibly the harliquin patterned room might just be my fav! Bree and Anthony have green harliquin painted dining room walls and it is so pretty.

    Happy PINK SATURDAY!

  13. I remember reading about your son when it happened but I thought the trial was over. Sorry to hear that he has to endure another one. Migraines are awful, I have had them for years but seem to have less as I age. Happy Pink Saturday,
    Brenda

  14. I'm so sorry to hear that your son Keith is still suffering from the injuries he sustained in that nasty incident. I'm also angry that the jury system failed him and your family. Let's hope the second trial is more successful in punishing these thugs.

  15. Gorgeous rooms. I love the basket of apples and the bed with gorgeous velvet accent pillows.
I hope that justice will be more swiftly delivered soon, and I am so sorry that something noble your son tried to do made him suffer so terribly. Thank you for sharing- we'll all be thinking and praying for him!

  17. HAPPY PINK SATURDAY SWEETS,
I LEFT YOU COMMENTS ON KEITH'S TRIAL. SO MANY TIMES IT IS THE OFFENDER THAT HAS MORE RIGHTS THAN THE PERSON THEY BEAT, ROBBED, ETC.
HOWEVER, PRAISE THE LORD FOR DNA...IT HAS SET MANY PEOPLE FREE WHO HAVE SPENT 16 YEARS OR MORE IN PRISON AND WERE INNOCENT....THEY WERE INNOCENT AND SENT TO PRISON AND YET THE THUGS WHO BEAT YOUR SON, AND THEY HAVE EVIDENCE AND IT RESULTED IN A HUNG JURY. I AM TRULY SORRY AND YOU ALL ARE IN MY PRAYERS. MY FAMILY KNOWS OF VIOLENCE.
THERE IS NOTHING MORE YUMMY THAN A FROU FROU BEDROOM AND A BEAUTIFUL CHANDIE.

  19. Connie, I am so sorry that Keith has to go through another trial. Seems justice is blind these days to the victims of horrendous crimes and I pray for Keith that he will soon be well again.
The rooms are all beautiful and I can't wait to start on mine. Won't look anything like those, but it will have a romantic shabby chic look to it. Love, hugs, and prayers to all of you. Pat

  21. Oh my Dear, I never before knew anything about that gang beating of your son. Words fail me. Good thing, because I am not God-fearing and I would call a spade, a spade, in regard to this! :-(

I do ask one thing... Can your whole family move out of CA? It is a chaotic place, as you know. And becomes more so, each passing day, with the liberal insanity which is rampant there. Not to mention, being bankrupt.

Oh my Dear, have you all ever considered moving? Of course there would be sacrifices entailed, especially in this economy. But.............

Enough. Wishing I could wrap you in gentle hugs...

  23. Hello sweet Connie, Sorry to hear of your son's struggle...life seems very sad and strange to me when I hear of these type of senseless tragedies that befall those we love. I do not understand why someone would hurt someone else, just makes very little sense to me. Anyhoo, your pictures are very cozy and elegant. I hope all is well with you sweet friend.

  24. Hi Connie, I'm sorry I have been too darn busy to visit but I am back. We are snowed in and all I am doing is visiting. I am loving it!

I remember when your son was beaten and it is a crime that this was not finished in court the first time. Justice is so needed here. I hope you son is feeling better by now.

I loved the photos of the many different rooms you shared. I'm with you when it comes to a balanced look. I am seriously happier in a balanced room. Also Ethan Allen has my vote. Their furniture is the best.

    How are you feeling?
    Warm hugs, Jeanne

  25. Hello Connie, I'm still making my Pink Saturday visits. Love your post this week. I love that desk up to the back of the couch, I would have never thought of doing that. So sorry to read about Keith and the trial and that he is still having problems from the beatings. How sad for him! I will keep him in my prayers.
