Pretty Doors and Peace and Calm

For First Friday, I recommend you go to my selling blog, La Maison Rose, and look at a few new things I've put on there recently. And to learn more about First Fridays, go to Rhea's blog at sweetnshabbyroses.

Now for some tranquility in lieu of the past week and all the worldly problems confronting you. Peace, my sweet friends.......

These doors look European or South American to me. They came from a calendar of this year. I only buy beautiful calendars to hang on my fridge so Love Bunny can keep me informed of his activities. One month at a time is placed on the fridge with beautiful magnets to hold them. I walk the walk when I talk the talk, chicks.

Hubs and I have been to Mexico and England and Ireland and simply loved visiting those countries, but we'll never go again. (I ain't flying, chicks!! Never ever again.) But the beauty of the flowers and the doors is astounding. The doors and windows in Ireland impressed me the most. So today I thought I'd just share with you these vintage looking entrances with the roses and foliage around them. Aren't they gorgeous? I also love the cobblestones pathways or streets you see in some of them.

Imagine climbing these stone steps worn with a smoothness and age from years of the pattering of feet running up and down them after a day of shopping or coming home from work. Beautiful in their simplicity. Window boxes abundant with flowers vining down the wall and shutters to keep the hot sun at bay during the day.

This one reminds me of a "secret" little street off the beaten path. Shrubs and flowers in pots and cascading down the balcony and over the window boxes again. Tile roofs to add to the mystique and ambiance. Notice also the vivid sun-drenched colors of the walls. Magnifiquè! Vintage lanterns lining the street and dripping with the patina of centuries gone past.

A secret entrance perhaps? Hmmmmm. More lush foliage to secret the owners from passersby. Hubs and I have rented a condo in Puerto Vallarta that reminds us of this patio. It was gorgeous.

Look at those magnificent doors! Very regal. And the stone step worn away from centuries of use. Can you imagine living here? The scent of geraniums wafting through the window spilling their spicy scent up to you. What a treat that would be.....:-)

This one reminds me of where Jesus the Christ might have lived. I can't explain why but it is just reminiscent of the cave where the stone was rolled away and He was set free for eternity. Even the light on the wall reminds me of His light to the world. Stone steps luxuriant in so many flowers one can barely find purchase for the feet. I weep.
May you have His peace and comfort in the days to come. Times will be hard but with Him you will at least have comfort.

Dieu soit avec vous. Au revoir jusqu'à la fois prochaine, mes amis doux.

Vintage School Desk

Love Bunny was kind enough to go look at this vintage desk today I spotted on craigslist. He brought it home!!! Squeeeeeealllll!!! Okay, now I have to prime and paint it and add some roses. I'll probably do decals. I don't have the courage to paint it yet! Hah.........

I'm a "Flitterer"...........

This is as far as I've gotten in the last 2 days. Actually, I've taken a load of stuff out of there. Changed some things with hubs. He took the bigger printer stand for his home office and I took the smaller one for in here. Took paints out of the revolving paint caddy and put them on the wall. The spot you can see behind the door is me practicing paint colors on the wall. That is a pink glaze. I'm going to have it PINKKKKK!

I found an antique school desk on craigslist this morning and hubs is picking it up and bringing it home tonight. We can use it no matter what but I'm going to paint it and put decals on it.

BUT during this process I've flitted about and fixed a lamp shade for a more girly effect. I do this frequently - flit from one project to another when tired and want a rest. ;-) But it all gets done in the end.

I have a vision for this room but just cannot seem to get it to come together in the time frame I want. I may have to draw it out to get the desired room I want. I am soooooooo NOT good at this!!

I told you I even keep my nails and screws in pretty containers. Here it is........talk the talk then walk the walk, chicks!!

Where in the world am I going to put these little houses that were on the shelf that now contains the paint bottles??? Oooooooh, does this mean I need to shoopppPPP?!?!?! Say it ain't so, sweet chicks!!!! LOL

The refurbished lamp shade. Thanks for Lori for the paper roses! They are truly gorgeous. Whatta ya think, sweets???? Nuuuuuu, think it needs something else........Hmmmmm......... gonna go "flit" and read a book, eat pretzels and drink some pepsi...........

I've Got "THE" Bug Again! Yep, Say It Ain't So........

I was just not happy with the way the office/computer room looked so I had Love Bunny switch the furniture around again. Let me tell you: that desk weighs a ton, trust me! I can't even lift an end! It's that heavy. So the next few pictures show my work in progress. This will take a while because I need to remove things from the wall, rearrange furniture and shelves.

This is what I used to look at. I'm now 180° and looking at the wall. Does that mean I need a new message board?!?!? Yessssssss, I think sooooo!!!

Everything thrown onto the floor.

Gettin' better, chicks! I had to dust!!! Can you believe that???? I hate dusting! But I had to before I put the stuff back on the top of the desk. Dust bunnies were having a fiesta under there! Viva la bamba!!

This is such a disaster right now. My photo shoot area in the corner will be done away with and I'll try to figure out how to incorporate a "painting" area in this room. That's one of the reasons I'm doing this. Since we moved from the huge house into this "retired people" house of about 1/3 the size, I have had to paint on the kitchen table. I'm TIRED of putting it up when I want to paint and taking it down for meals! Aaaaccckkk.......... (through with the nervous breakdown). So it'll be different by the time I'm through with it. Maybe some wallies around the room instead of the ivy border. I wonder if hubs would go ahead and paint this room pink??? Maybe I'd better ask him that after a "night of wild abandon"!! ;-)

Rose Wedding Cake

I thought I'd give faux pastries a try. Threw in a couple of roses and voilà, my 2nd attempt! You really don't want to see the 1st attempt! LOL
