What Else Could Happen?!

It's been one heck of a week for me. But first I need to show the birthday people. My eldest grandchild and only granddaughter turned 31. My son turned 48. Yep, April is a big month for celebrations in this family. And oldest grandson is turning 27 next week. And since granddaughter is my height—5' 4"—you can see how tall Adam is—6' 3".

Granddaughter and her hubby and Caroline a few months ago.

Son and his wife celebrating 24th wedding anniversary next week also. You can see why I have such beautiful grandsons.

Now on to what else is happening.

First, on monday I got braces on my bottom teeth. Yep, at my age! I cannot tell you how sore my mouth and tongue are. Why, you ask? Well, to save my bottom teeth from shifting any more than they have, which will strengthen them and not lose them as I grow older. I intend to keep every single one of them before I leave this earth, and my dentist and I share the same philosophy. Hence, I've been able to only eat milkshakes for the most part and Dreamsicles. Chewing hurts too badly.

Then this morning I had surgery on my right foot to remove bone from the heel because it was stressing my achilles tendon. I'm in a splint from behind my knee to the tips of my toes. I cannot walk or bear any weight on the right foot for a month. Can we say "ouch"?! Can I please have an "awwww, so sorry for ya"?! I just scoot around on this scooter for a while. I'm not thrilled in case you're wondering. I even have to have help going to the bathroom. Hubby and I will be very, very close for a few weeks.

And speaking of that, what did he decide to cook for dinner???? The fishiest smelling fish in the freezer. I cannot tell you what this house smells like now. I think you can get my drift.

I am heavily padded at the moment, but you cannot keep a blogger down, right? I cannot believe how big my foot and leg look in this photo. Sigh.... Plus it's 6:45 pm at the moment and I'm still paralyzed. It should wear off sometime during the night and the pain will kick in. Sigh...

  1. Have to admit I am partial to redheads, what beautiful hair & a gorgeous gal! Your month is heavy with celebrations, as is ours, Connie. That wee one is just as precious as can be, & beautiful! You are blessed with such a handsome family.

Hope that this foot heals quickly ... I have a hard time picturing you 'down', chuckle. I did the braces late in life & it sure was a sore mouth for a while ... I have plenty of empathy for you. Take care, my friend.

    Have a beautiful weekend ~

Dear me, I didn't realize you were having foot problems. Looks like you could do some serious damage with that scooter thingy! Take care and rest, my sis!! And just say, "Calgon, take me away!".

  6. Ouch! Poor you. Get all those painkillers by your side - no use suffering in silence either, and I do hope it won't be too painful. You have a lovely family and there always seem to be special months for birthdays in families. Ours is February. Take care and put a bit of pink on that bandage!

  7. Ouch, ouch, ouch! Sorry you are so miserable right now. Hope all returns to "normal" soon. On a different note: I ran across a great book in a thrift store this week by Alexandra Stoddard...and how to have a beautiful life. Is she your inspiration? I thought about you a lot during the book.

  8. I am so sorry to hear all that drama going on around you. It is an ambitious endeavor to take on braces but something that is encouraging for me. I love your goal. If you need anything, please feel free to call me. Love ya Lady!!

  9. Awwwe "Connie, I feel your pain and I hope you can get through it without drugs. I am a wimp and too much hurting to even try.And the pain meds only take the edge off---never complete relief.
I have already been very very close to hubby too many times to count, so I am used to it. With 15 surgeries behind me, I hope it's the end of that kind of help. But I know your love bunny is really only helping and it's better than having a male nurse bathe you--take it from me. Hope you are better soon and the next 4 months fly by fast. Love and hugs, Pat

  11. Oh Connie, poor you! Braces and foot surgery all at once! You tell your sweet hubby that I said he must spoil you rotten for the next few weeks, okay?

    Feel better.
