More up-close shots of roses around my house. I set the camera to close-up and zeroed in pretty close. I had my flash on. This is what the Canon can do. Love that camera. Love the roses more though. ;-)

This is my coffee filter rose so close I can even see the glue on it. Hmmm, must remember to pick off those strands.

Random Thoughts:
I'm probably one of the few out of billions of people who didn't watch the royal wedding and, actually, haven't even been following it or caught up in the glitz of it. I'm not a royal follower. I did see a picture of her in her dress this morning when I came in to read my morning news on the internet though and I must say she was lovely. Her dress was simple but gorgeous. I've always thought Diana's dress was the ugliest wedding gown I'd ever seen. Oh, do NOT get me wrong. Diana was a lovely woman, but I don't think her style came through until years later. I most certainly wish the couple happiness, but I pity her for marrying a future king. They traditionally have mistresses and I know I couldn't share my hubby with anyone. I want commitment from my man and want to be the only woman in his life. I want someone to marry me who thinks I'm his queen and will remain faithful in this life and the next. And I did marry one.

A few weeks ago I read where Chicago banned homemade lunches and chocolate milk in their schools. Easter eggs are now called Spring Spheres. How silly is this and where will the insanity stop? My lunches from home were better fare than what came out of the cafeteria. Plus, I hate milk, but love hot chocolate. My kids went mostly to private schools just for this reason. My son took an English class and was taught by a Mexican woman who spoke to the kids in Spanish! He couldn't understand her so I got him out of that class as fast as I could make the phone call. That's when I decided to send them to private schools. He now speaks Spanish fluently, but that was after he learned proper English.

I also read a few days ago that calling animals "pets" is insulting. WHAT??? I know how most of you feel about your animals, but calling them pets is not insulting. That's what they are. Fur children is what my daughter calls her 3 cats and 2 dogs and she loves them more than ME! Insanity.

Did you know fingerprints are just friction ridges? Yep, that's what the experts call them.
*
A father's duty is to protect his children, right after loving their mother. I cannot tell you how sad I feel for those without their fathers. And that is increasing in this age of promiscuity. If a man loves you he will want to make you his wife and have you bear his children.

I think you've had enough of my ramblings for one day. Ooooh, I'm getting better day by day with this foot surgery. ;-)

I pray, Connie, that William will break the 'chain' of family philandering ... they do make a lovely couple. Catherine was looked stunning in her gorgeous gown of simplicity.
ReplyDeleteTrust me, I cannot agree with you more about marriage, family & morals.
Hope you are doing better today & the swelling is going down more every day.
Have a beautiful PS weekend.

Yep, Connie, you said it all and I agree with it all. Well done!!
ReplyDeleteWhat??!! no Easter eggs???
They will always be Easter eggs in my home, that's for sure. The gov't isn't going to tell me what I can and can not say. We are becoming idiots.......so sad.
On that note, your roses are so pretty, I could almost smell them. Great picture taking girlfriend.
Happy Pink Saturday, Char
I'm in heaven! Your photos are divine, Connie! There's nothing better than pink roses :O)
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday!
(Note: I have not seen, read or heard anything about the royal wedding...by choice)
I did watch the Royal Wedding. I thought that Kate looked lovely and yes, her dress was far more elegant and timeless than Diana's. I hope that William is faithful to her. I believe in the institution of marriage. One more rant ~ it was so nice to see a young woman who is considered to be beautiful and has NOT submitted to a boob job and is wearing a lovely wedding dress and does not look like a tramp. It would be lovely if more young women followed her lead! Happy Pink Saturday!!
ReplyDeleteLots of love,
Susan and Bentley

Happy Pink Saturday Connie. Grace xoox
ReplyDeleteNo you are not the only one. Here is another. I have not seen one scene from the wedding. But I truly enjoyed seeing your lovely roses so close up. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteConnie, as usual a wonderful read. I was just talking to hubby yesterday saying I hope the newly wedded couple break the cycle of "turning the other way". Why bother getting married if you aren't going to take your vows seriously? I didn't watch either, I feel these types of moments are private & since I have no attachment...there's no purpose to my watching. On to more frivolous things...Can I tell you how proud I am of my newly neat & orderly linen closet? Well I AM! Thanks to you & your folding fitted sheets help! I am ever grateful!
ReplyDeleteLicks & Wags, Niki
I can almost smell your roses from here. :D Happy Pink Saturday!

Hi Sweetie! So glad to hear you are getting better each day!! I pulled an all nighter so I wouldn't miss anything during the Royal Wedding ~ You know me and weddings! Now I'm still up and it is 3am!!! I owe you a looong letter, so I'll write soon.
ReplyDeleteLove & Miss you, too!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Happy Pink Saturday!

We loved the weddin! Well, being English, we would wouldnt we?
ReplyDeleteI'm sad when I hear that people just werent in the least interested in it. For us, as a monarchy, it was a day when old memories of Diana were perhaps put to rest. I think William will make a caring husband, and she seems a very sensible and lovely girl.
I see the Pink roses; did you notice there are patterns within patterns to nature? Close-ups are special. Good job!

I love your coffee filter rose. How did you do that?
ReplyDeleteI love that closeup feature on my Canon, too, isn't it great? Those rose stamens look like twists of gold wire!
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch the wedding, but it was fun seeing all the pictures of the hats!
Happy Pink Saturday, and Ihope your recovery continues swiftly!
Good Morning,
ReplyDeleteI could not agree with you more on all accounts. I think we have really have lost our way in this country sometimes.
Love all your pinks and the paper rose you made. I just love hand made items. They are so beautiful.
Have wonderful day and blessed week!!
Warm Regards, CindyLew
Your pictures are perfect for Pink Saturday! Sorry...but I have to disagree! When Diana got out of her car and her wedding gown unfolded for all the world to see, I thought it was a gorgeous vision! (I'm just say'in!) Catherine was absolutely stunning in her gown as well. HPS, Marcia
ReplyDeleteYour photos are beautiful!! So sorry to hear about your surgery, hope you are much better.
ReplyDeleteMiss you, big hugs, Vickie
Thank you, Connie, for speaking up! I pray that more people do so. How is it possible that the minority think they can force their silliness upon the rest of us? I pray that we all educate ourselves and restore some sanity to our great country. (okay, now I spoke up, scary)
ReplyDeleteLove your roses. I brought mine inside to enjoy.
Happy Pink Saturday!
I did watch the wedding and was glued to the TV for every little detail. Of all of Queen Elizabeth's children, only one, Edward is still married. I hope William and Catherine can break the ugly spell that seems to be cast on royal marriages.
ReplyDeleteNow, I agree with you 100% on the idiotic (yes, I said idiotic) business going on in our schools. They ARE Easter eggs, that's what was being celebrated, get over it! And no one would have told me what my kids HAD to eat. This is ridiculous. Not to get too political but it really burned my britches when Michelle Obama got on her high horse about what the kids should be eating then turned around and served a cholesterol filled Super Bowl party. Geesh!
Have a great weekend, filled with whatever you want to eat! I think I'm going to go crack open a Pepsi and a bag of Lays! ;)
Beautiful roses..
ReplyDeleteI love all your pinks...and your ramblings! We think quite a bit alike! Though, I must say that I watched the wedding and sobbed AND I really do think the new Duke and Duchess have a chance at a loving, faithful marriage. They seem to be making good choices to maintain their privacy. I just hope they choose to make the Lord the center of their marriage.

Connie, My you have done a lot of thinking lately! All excellent concepts. I don't understand why not homemade lunches and choc milk? What am I missing? Here in Pinellas County FL, for years one could not bring homemade cupcakes and such to school because of allergies. School could be sued if a child ate something in a homemade article. We had moved from Broward County (Ft Lauderdale) where I always made homemade lollipops for school events. My kids as well as all the class and teachers loved them. There was a wonderful shop over there that had tons of wonderful molds. We came here and my son missed out on having them for his events. Easter eggs...mine will always be Easter eggs as well as Merry Christmas. I so hate "happy holidays". See you have me ranting now lol. I did not watch the Royal wedding either. I did watch Diana's. I feel as you do about marrying into a royal family. Since they have lived together for a number of years already, perhaps the "mistress" horror will not play out in their lives. One can only pray for them. Oh yes, I feel I can reach out and touch your pretty roses. Blessings.
