Roses Again and Some Random Thoughts for Pink Saturday 6/26/2010

Welcome once again to Beverly of How Sweet The Sound and Pink Saturday.
This past week I visited with Shirley of Shirley's World and Jenn of Whinenroses. Visit with them and tell them I sent you.

Can you stand to look at more roses in my garden? I certainly hope so because I love looking at them. ;-) It's also a pleasure to be able to share them with you all.

This will be the 2nd year for this hosta and it thrives in this spot under my office window.

Our pathetic little rhododendron is finally starting to show some growth. It's been quite a struggle for it but maybe it'll survive.

A David Austen rose. My favorites.

I'm shocked by how gorgeous this is this year. The bush has dozens on it at the moment. Very prolific!

Aren't they simply magnificent?

Random Thoughts:

I hear people on a regular basis say that actions they take don't hurt anyone but themselves. Wrong! In this world your actions affect everyone around you: family, friends, school mates. Selfish people consider themselves only; unselfish people consider others when they make unpopular decisions. Don't think I am wrong in this. It's very true. A ripple in the water travels the ocean, my friends.

The best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother.

If a guy tells you that if you love him, you'll "submit" to him then your answer should be: if you love me you wouldn't ask. Tried and true, chicks, tried and true. You have this on excellent authority. Me! If he loves you, he'd marry you. If not, he doesn't think much of you.

Why is it that home always looks so good to us when we return from our travels? Home is comfort, familiarity and serenity. I love it when we hit the California or Washington state line because I know we're almost to our kids house or our grandkids' house, but when we are on our return trip, it's our own home for which we're longing. "Being home" is the secret.

Hope you are having a Happy Pink Saturday. I woke up dizzy. Now, I know what you're going to say... aren't I dizzy on a regular basis, but this is dizzy and in bats in the belfry dizzy. I think it's my glasses. I got some new ones, and I think they aren't tweaked properly.

    Happy Pink Saturday...

    Sheila :-)

  11. I can't imagine anyone ever getting tired of looking at roses. Yours are beautiful. I especially love roses that are dual color, like your pink ones with the hint of yellow at the center. Those kind always remind me of a sunset.

Thanks also for sharing your words of wisdom.

    Have a lovely day,

  12. Fabulous roses and great "random thoughts"! So true about returning home.

I love your roses! They're gorgeous and I don't blame you for showing them off! Love the good advice and sentiments you shared on your post today. Wisdom indeed!

Now, I want you to know that I stopped by here yesterday to see your wedding post and for some reason, they were blank spaces so I'm back again to have a peek. I'm not disappointed! They're wonderful and you have a wonderful life with your man as anyone can see. We are very blessed, you and I! I wouldn't trade mine for all the Tom Sellecks in the world!
Happy Pink Saturday and have an extraordinary weekend.

  16. I always love to visit your blog. Have a wonderful Pink Saturday

  17. Hi Ms Connie-- Great pinks -- lol i loved how you called your one plant pathetic HECK -- even though i love mine they tend to look a lot like yours. Guess mine are sometimes pathetic too. ;)

    Have the best PINK weekend.

  18. Connie, your hosta is gorgeous and so are the beautiful roses. I especially love your words of wisdome today. How tried and true. I didn't have to give in to mine for him to marry me and I guess that is why our marriage has lasted this long. I am looking to December to move back in. He has tamed the tiger, so we have some construction to do as I had to buy furniture and other things that 2 households need. Sounds like a yard sale also will be in the works. Love ya Sweet Chick Pat

  19. Hi Connie

I always love to visit with you on PS - but your words of wisdom are terrific too!

  22. Hi Connie Sweetie...
Oh how I love this post. Thank you for sharing your words of wisdom, as they are so true. Once someone says those words, they cannot take them back and they travel to our very soul. Love it.

Now those roses of yours, are absolutely divine. I could smell them as I scrolled, and I thank you so much for sharing them. I will never tire of your roses (especially the ones that you sent to me, I cherish them sugar.)

I am so in love with your hostas. I have 2 packages of bulbs, but then I got sick and never got to plant them. I still may have DH get me some soil at the store and plant them in several of my big pots. I could do this in the garage. Where there is a will, there is a way. Love it.

So happy to be able to stop by. Have a beautiful Pink Saturday sweetie. You always make me smile. Country hugs and much love, Sherry

  23. Hey Sweets!

  24. I agree with you completely! Our actions do count and we all need to remember that each day. Now on to the roses ... I'll never tire of looking at yours. They are stunning!! Happy PS!!

  30. magnificent, really nice post. keep on blogging

  31. Good morning Connie, I just commented on your wedding post. Now, for the pink. Who would ever get tired of roses? NOT ME! Your David Austin's are beautiful. Beautiful photos too. I noticed the edging around your flower bed. I always wanted to do that. Our property here is over an acre. No edging will ever happen here. sigh!

Love your random thoughts. I so agree with all of them.

    Happy Sunday!
    Hugs, Jeanne

  32. There truly is no place long home. It is where my heart is most happy.

I never tire of seeing roses, and yours are gorgeous. I've tried rhododendron in our yard, but they always die. I might try planting some in our woods this fall.

    Happy Pink Saturday, dear Connie.

  33. oh gosh how could we ever tire of beautiful photos of beautiful roses? loving the David Austen ones too! wow the hosta has done well!

  34. Connie,
I agree with you that when people are hurtful they hurt everyone around them. I also always wondered about that saying that "sticks and stones can break my bones but words can never hurt you" How in the world did they saying live, words are so damaging.

I love your roses they are beautiful, and so is your mind. Every time I stop by you have written something so thought provoking.

    Happy Pink Saturday.

  35. David Austen roses are my favorite as well!
I really want to plant some in our garden either this year or next. I have just the spot! I need to dig it up though so ... I'm lazy. :P

Loved your random thoughts. Especially the first one.
    Take care!

  36. Hi dear Connie ,
Your pink roses are so beautiful! You're taking very good care of them!
Always enjoy your random thoughts (words of wisdom)...
Happy Pink Saturday on Sunday :)
    XO, Mary

  37. Your flowers are gorgeous. My hostas are not so full....they are competing with ferns.

  38. ha! I just mentioned that on my blog -- but much less eloquently.

  39. oh.. and I love the roses. The neighbors trees have grown successfully which puts our roses out of sunshine for most of the morning. so sad.

  40. You know I LOVE your roses! Terrific shots of them! Your yard looks perfect!

    Love you,
    Angelic Accents
