New Sunglasses

Sunglasses are important to me. I am rarely without them. If I go to the mailbox I have my sunglasses on. Photosensitivity affects more green-eyed people than other colors—and I have green eyes—, brown being the least sensitive and blue being medium, depending on the person, of course. But I can hardly open my eyes in sunlight, so they are constantly with me.

Recently one of the ear pieces broke and I rushed to the optometrist and they repaired it but it freaked me out a little bit thinking I could have been without glasses for a period of time so I purchased another pair recently. I don't buy the prescription ones anymore because my vision has improved and don't particularly need them to drive so I just purchase a decent pair. I like the ones that are big, not because of the fashion trends because I've worn BIG glasses since the 70s. I like them big to cover as much of my line of vision as possible. When you live in the desert and travel back to California a couple of times a year and drive through the Oregon, Nevada, California and Idaho deserts you NEED strong sunglasses.

This is the old pair of the very dark glasses I used for sailing. T
he ear pieces are so stretched out that they will hardly stay on, but they are very dark for sailing—which I don't do anymore since we're not on the California coast, but they'll do in a pinch. The very dark ones are very hard to find anymore also.

This is the pair I bought a couple of months ago.

This is the new extra pair I bought at Costco, which I believe are better than the expensive top designer ones at Macy's and cost far less.

When I went to pay for them he brought out this "designer" case and the pink cloth for cleaning them. I knew right then I had the right pair, chicks!! LOL

And read the "fairy tale" on the cleaning cloth. Darling! It says "Once upon a time in a land far, far away called Pacoima there were two nice girls who liked stuff. Juicy Couture swept the land and they lived happily ever after". Pacoima is in southern California.

I feel like Marilyn Monroe now. :-) <-----------Me, smiling at ya.

Making Lemonade

Meyers lemons are my absolute favorite lemons. Below you see 3 meyers lemons purchased at the Boise Co-op and one regular one purchased at WM. The WM lemon is a big one so you can see how big the meyers ones are. They are extremely soft, juicy, tangerine-y smell and taste. I can make a whole pitcher of lemonade with one meyer lemon.

They are as big as a small orange.

This is what it looks like inside before and after squeezing. The fewest seeds of any lemon I've found so far. The WM lemons had about 20 seeds and the meyers lemon had about 4 seeds.

Creating a New Message Board

I've had an old message board that Love Bunny has been using for the last several years but not to its full advantage so I confiscated it and gave it a new look. It's a large one I originally made for him in USMC colors of red and yellow or as the Marines say "scarlet and gold." So I took it apart after hubs said it couldn't be done (duh); I got the board IN the frame so it has to come out, right? Yep, after several "it can't be done" from him I finally got it out. But I've usually got a couple of things going at once so while painting the frame for the cork board I painted an old large can and some lids outside being that it was so hot it would dry quickly.

The lids.

The large can painted white that I'll add decals to.

The unpainted frame.

The original fabric. I told you I "don't do dust"!! Can you see where the ribbons were on it?

Working on it at the cutting table. Those ribbons are a very bright yellow.

Finished putting in the upholstery tacks to hold the ribbon on.

This is the closest to the true color of all these pictures. Truly yellow and pink fabric but, again, very bright yellow ribbons.

Hanging on the wall behind me as I sit at my computer. Much prettier up close and in real life.

Changed Laundry Room Curtains for Pink Saturday

Happy pink saturday to all of you. Go visit with Beverly at How Sweet the Sound to view all the PS participants. You'll love seeing all the pink!

I loved the fabric of the curtains in the laundry room but decided I wanted something with more roses on it for the moment. This, you understand, is subject to change on any given day. Sunshine is so abundant in this room from the solartube that I couldn't get a good shot of the fabric but here it is. Tiny floral bouquets of roses. Looks great I think. Still thinking of more things to do to that little room.
