Several months ago I came across this on a blog and laughed til I cried. I have never watched Ellen Degeneres or even seen her act or for that matter am not sure what she is famous for since we don't have a TV but this is just hilarious. I don't want to ever lose it and I thought I'd share it with those of you who visit my blog. Just turn up your speakers, listen and have a good belly laugh with this lady, Gladys Hardy. I guess it is because I'm in a witty, funny and humorous family that I love this so much. Enjoy, chickadees!

Step by Step......I Fell in Love with You!!!
I remember that song from the 60s!! And it is my theme song to doing my painting roses practice! Step by step..........whew, long process. However, this is my favorite roses - so far - with a little "filler" and leaves (?) thrown in. Actually, I didn't want to "mar the beauty" of the original so I copied them on my copier to practice on more. :-) I'm starting to like this practicing roses and leaves and stuff. I'm a Rose Painter Wanna Be!!

I have wanted - no, lusted for - the ability to paint roses for years and years. Finally last year, I decided to take the plunge. Starting with the "pitiful" top picture you can see my progress. I am only showing you the very, very first attempt (top picture) and the roses from the past week (bottom three). There are, of course, variations in between, but trust me, they are as bad or worse as the top sheet. All but the 3rd one down are painted on colored paper. I've had reams of it for years! The 3rd one down I did a pale blue color wash on a white sheet of copy paper. Just wanted to share and show you there is hope - even for people with absolutely no natural ability - ME!! And ya gotta be brave to post this on the internet for millions of people to see!! I'm brave. :-)

Wedding Bouquet & Cake Toppers
Jack and I have been married over 46 years now and I just thought you might like to see some "vintage" cake toppers! This is my wedding ("weeding" now!) bouquet and the 2 cake toppers we had on our wedding cake and shower cake when we got married. Looks kinda sad but I display all of them on a shelf in my living room. See what you can do with making your home entirely yours?!?! No one else in this world has the exact thing and they all mean a great deal to me. :-) Decorate with anything and everything!Wednesday, June 20, 2007
Lamps and Lights

Lighting is tremendously important to a room. Most rooms are dark and dreary. They are building them with more glazing in the last several years but for the most part rooms are dark and dreary. That will dampen the spirit. You need to have light. Our home faces north from the front making for a very dark home. I have to light lamps in some rooms because I react negatively to light-deprived rooms. Even in daylight hours we need to light lamps if need be. Overhead lighting is fine but we need the "mood" setting light of lamps.
~*~
Above are some of the lamps in my home. They were plain old lamps and some even picked up at garage sales. I've painted them - glass and ceramic - in whites or pinks and added roses, ribbon and lace to them. That makes them "unique" and truly one of a kind. You can certainly purchase lamps at discount stores, but "jazz" them up a bit. It doesn't take much. I've even been known to paint the lamp shades! But be sure the shade "matches" the "style" of the lamp. And make sure the switch on the lamp is not seen below the shade. And for heaven's sake, take off the plastic from the shade!! That is only for the showroom and protects it from dust. When you get it home, take it off!
