Porches #1

Obviously I love porches as do most of you, and I'm going to share some photos from a book I've had for many years. Porches are not limited to the quintessential one with white porch railings; they come in many sizes as well as styles. Any one of which I'd love to have but I do have a favorite of course.

Brick home. White railing. Covered. Inviting seating. Yuuummm...

Flowers on display. White slatted blinds. Wonderful wicker table and chairs. Antique bench.

This is probably out here in the west somewhere, but it is stunningly beautiful even if it is a bit off the beaten path of porches.

Hammock. White floor boards with a rug. Roses and flowers on a wicker table. Roll up blinds.

Aaaaah, the seashore and most likely a beach for walking on.

Mountain view. Lake. Adirondack chairs. Stately columns on a round porch. Boat house. Lush lawn.

  2. All the porches look so inviting...I could sit for maybe five minutes, then I'd have to go do something. Like decorate my porch...it's been neglected lately. Thanks for all the inspiring photos.

  3. Thanks for the great porch photos, Connie! You know I love my porch! The only thing that would make it more perfect is if I had a water view...lake or ocean, either would be acceptable!

  4. Oh Connie, we just love our porches! We have double sleeping porches and last year we had them (finally) painted and repaired. It's the first time in 15 years that we have actually used our upstairs porch and we are out there all of the time. The kids sleep out there whenever they can - in fact I was just trying to find some vintage cots so they could be more comfortable. I just love the pictures you posted, I'm going to keep searching for some old wicker and I love, love, love that bench! Thanks for the inspiration. Kathy

  9. Connie, right now I would love to be sitting on the porch by the lake or the beach. Thanks for sharing some dear to us. I wish Porches were used like they were in the 50s and 60s,, but life is so fast paced, no one seems to have time to sit and chat. Hugs, Pat

  10. I have an old neglected house next door that has a wonderful porch. Wish I could give it some tlc. I currently have a balcony that serves as my porch - this morning it was grand up there soaking in the morning sun and birds chattering about - my feet resting on the rail. Ahhhhhhhhh

  13. Beautiful porches Connie.
I like to see them all decorated like an extension of the indoors of the house - an extra outdoor room.

  17. I'll take the beach porch! I love them all. I have such a nice large covered back porch, but cannot seem to "capture" any of the beauty of those porches. I still enjoy our porch, even if it isn't quite that pretty.

  18. Hi Connie, Oh how I love porches and the pics you share are all wonderful in their own way and style.
To me, porches are outside rooms just waiting to be decorated. I love the very first you show and the beachy porch.

Thank you for stopping by. Yes, it is hard to believe all those trees had to go.
    Have a great week.

  24. Hi Connie!
Love this post! I think I've been in love with porches since we moved into our home back when I was 5. It had a full "back" porch across the back. LOVED IT!

All of these you have shared are gorgeous . . . but I think I am partial to the one by the lake with the Adirondack chair. Nothing better to sit in than an Adirondack chair.

But ...that ocean view is looking mighty nice too ...

Thanks for sharing these! Have a great day! Karen
