Ribbon and Paper Roses for Pink Saturday 8/7/2010

Happy pink saturday, chicks. Again, please go see Beverly at How Sweet The Sound for all the participants. My kids, grandkids and great granddaughter were here this past week and I didn't have time to find new bloggers but I'll try and catch up next week. It's been a zoo here with 11 people in this house.

Recently Kristina had a blog post about giveaways she was sponsoring and I participated, giving away 6 paper roses with rose fragrance. Olivia (one of my favorite names!) won and this is her prize. I hope she loves them in her home, which is very pretty from all the photos I've seen. I started with these.

And ended up with these! I like them in that bowl so much I'm going to make a dozen or so to put in it and maybe put on the coffee table. I don't know where I'll put them! This house has so many roses in it already...Sigh...

Congratulations, Olivia. Enjoy!

And in the middle of July there was a "Show Us Your Rosettes Party" that I also participated in. I've been doing ribbon flowers for many years and didn't show all of them because I couldn't FIND all of them and some have been given away, but here are a few more. The red one and the lavender one next to it are my 2 most favorite flowers.

Random Thoughts:

The man who does not read good books has no advantage over those who can't read them. I read a lot and I mean a LOT.

Hollywood types think pot is a health food. I think it's something to put green beans in to cook. I'll bet ya I'm healthier...and saner!
*

I also know that ghosts can't hurt you unless you give them the power to harm you, unless you feed their substance with your fear. It's the class theory well known to spirit channelers and ghostbusters all over the world. I think I read that in a comic book.
*

Time saved does not seem to mean additional leisure or greater opportunity for meditation and reflection. Instead, with each new wave of technology, the pace of life increases; there is more to do, more choices to make, more things to experience, and people eagerly seize upon these experiences and fill the house that had only moments ago become empty. Each year life seems to be flitting past with far greater speed than the year before.

I'm a good guy; I keep you in toilet paper. Hubby said this to me recently. Hmmmmmm.......

Middle age does not automatically confer dignity. Personal experience with several middle age people I know. Sigh...

Love Bunny and I went to a wonderful restaurant several years ago—you know the type, no prices on the menu. Well, as he looked at it he asked, "Is that real food or just interior decoration on a plate?"

  2. LOVE your paper roses. You are the Paper Rose Queen! And there's always just a little space somewhere for just one more. I don't think you've reached saturation point YET...

You'll have to tell Love Bunny that we also eat with our eyes! Haute Cuisine is like that - how many unuseable cookbooks I have bought because of the pictures just doesn't bear thinking about. And then there are the magazines... anyone who thinks I have capers or samphire sitting in my larder just in case is going to be severly disappointed!

Great post (as always). Happy Pink Saturday!

  14. Good Morning Connie Sweetie...
Happy Pink Saturday and what a share you have today. I love your pink tipped roses. You have such an eye for beauty sweet friend. They do look so beautiful in that vase. I think you should make some to reside there.

I walk past my roses each and every day and smile and think of the love that was put into them for me. They have cheered me up many a day. You cannot even begin to image. You are a very gifted artist sweet friend.

I love your rosettes too. They are all beautiful, but I LOVE the red one. It just screams BEAUTY to me.

  16. Connie, I have to say that your roses keep getting more and more beautiful. They look so real. I might be inclined to try them with my little 4 cup filters that are no longer used.
As always I love your random thoughts. I especially like the one about the pot. Glad we call all stay sane while some of the world keeps smoking the pot instead of using it as designed. I have a list somewhere I need to post about the new generations defenitions of things that we called something legal. Love and hugs, Pat
ps love bunny must be like most husbands I know---but mine is paper towels also.

  25. love the roses. We need more in this house. We don't have any, we have some silk tulips and other flowers, but no more roses. My cousin donated them when cleaning without asking me first! I was a bit upset! I have to go and get more!

  27. Hi Sweets,
You always make me smile here with your great posts!

I love your paper roses in the bowl, so pretty, I'd put some on my coffee table as well.

As far as TP, one can never have enough at least when you have children that are always having friends over now living back at home... somehow it always comes up, can I give so and so a few rolls to take home? Guess kids don't buy it these days just get it from parent's houses?

    Happy weekend!

  28. I just LOVE your paper roses - and that vase. Beautiful! I totally agree with the technology thought - everyone always talks about how technology saves us so much time and I don't know that it does -it just allows us to cram more and more into our lives, and most of it things we don't really want to do. And the TP comment from your hubby was pretty funny. :) Happy Pink Saturday!

  37. I love your roses and I am with your hubby, I really don't like fancy restaurants, I am always hungry when I leave. Thanks for stopping, yes to smooth your fabric instead of pulling will give you a much tighter fit. To test that theory run your hand tightly and firmly over something you have recovered and you will see how much tighter it would have been if you had firmly smoothed the fabric from side to side instead of pulled.
