Night Lights and Liver......Yuck

Update on son.

Keith is really struggling with forgiveness for these men along with the physical aspects. He has no idea when he might even be able to return to work as an RN. The ringing has continued so loudly he can barely hear anything else. The headache persists. The vision is still cloudy. The doctors have not been able to tell him if these issues will even ever clean up. That's the frustrating thing for him. He called the hospital to set up some kind of counseling and is going to call his bishop for spiritual counseling with him on forgiveness. I think his spirit is wounded even more than his physical body at the moment. I think that any and all of you mothers out there can sort of understand what I'm going through at the moment. I lay awake at night praying. I also get weepy during the day when I think of how valiant he was and why this had to happen to him. But I truly do have faith this will get better.
*

Then last friday morning Love Bunny told me he was experiencing vision problems since the day before—bright flashes of light in his left eye. I told him to get into QuickCare asap and he was over there by 8 am. They set him up with an
ophthalmologist at 3 pm that afternoon and at 4 pm he walked into the house and told me he had to be back at the eye doctor in 25 minutes for emergency surgery. He said I had to go and drive him there and back as if I wouldn't have anyway. *Sigh*........ I take things in stride usually but I thought he was joking. He wasn't! So they lasered a tear in his left retina that afternoon. I could tell after about half of the laser shots that he was hurting badly because he motioned for me to be silent. This man doesn't "hurt" very often, I tell ya!

I then treated him to liver and onions (one of his favorites and I refuse to even be in the same state as liver if I can avoid it, much less COOK the stuff!) at this "restaurant" (using the term loosely as you all can admit being in one of these places at some time in your life! You know the kind of place I mean—where the dust balls hang from the ceiling and the waitresses call you "honey" and do everything but burp ya and you're afraid they might even try that!) for being so brave having his eye beeped with 183 laser "shots." He was grateful because I absolutely hate going into this cheap greasy place to eat. But I thought he deserved it! Men tend to want their mummies and wives with them at times like this and we mummies and wives certainly want to BE there at times like this.

Is life ever going to get back to an even keel around this house?!!?! Hmmmmm??
~*~

I put the sheers back out on the patio. (Will I ever get this backyard like I want it?!?!?) Then I decided to put some strings of lights I have around the poles and light it up back there for a more romantic feel. And we alllllll know how I feel about romantic feel! Yes, it turned out quite well I think. Oh, it's not like those fancy homes that have gobs of money to have it done professionally but it does serve the purpose I wanted.

I think the azalea survived the winter in the family room but not so sure about the hibiscus and bougainvillea in the front yard that Love Bunny had under some of those styrofoam things you get at WM or Home Depot. We'll see, but they look a bit pathetic when he uncovered them yesterday.

Squeeeeeeeeal!!! With the lights on last night. I love the feel they give the patio.

  3. So much in your post. I am praying for your son. I think it is so unfair but I know we live in a world where fairness does not happen often. I keep thinking of his poor face and how bad it looked. It must be so hard to be forgiving.

My hubby has to have this same surgery on his eye. He had gone to the eye doctor for his checkup and mentioned a dark spot and within two hours he was in the big city hospital having eye surgery. Yikes what a shock that was. He then had the other eye lazed so nothing would happen and the doctors told him to tell his siblings to be checked too as I guess this runs in the family.

I had to laugh about the will I ever get the yard like I want it...I am always wondering if someday I will wake up and say...there are no projects to do here today!

  4. Hey Connie!

I sure hope that your son gets better! I can't even imagine. I'm sure he is frustrated with it all and that is probably what makes it worse for him.

I sure hope that your Love Bunny gets better too! I had flashes in both eyes about 9 years ago. I called my eye doctor and went in and I had a tear in my eye also. They had to do laser surgery on my right eye. It felt like they were sticking needles in my eye! I have no idea how many times it was lasered but I do know that it worked. The funny thing is that I was there with my 2 yr old daughter at the time and I had no problem driving myself home. I'm sure we went to eat afterward and that probably gave me time to calm down from the shock of it all! lol

Love what you did to your patio!

    Hugs,
    Angela

  5. You are very much in my prayers & my thoughts.
We have a son who is 39 now. When he was 25 he went missing for 10 years. It was his choice, drugs & drinking. We literally didn't know from one year to the next if he was dead or alive. Holidays came & went. We used to read the papers everyday & when the phone rang we jumped for it. We were tormented....
We prayed & prayed & prayed. Until we thought prayer wasn't working anymore. Then one day about 4 years ago he appeared. Clean, sober & our precious son again. He is kind & productive & we are so grateful!
My point in this, You & your son are in my prayers & they do get answered.
    Love,
    Marilyn

  9. Hi Connie,

Your poor son and hubby. I will continue to pray for you son and hubby has now been added to the list.
Forgiveness can be difficult but it is the only way to be free. I'm not saying it is easy but it will set him free.

  10. Connie, your son certainly has been through a lot and I can tell you from experience that forgiving is very hard when you are hurt by someone, but it will come in his own time and I know, judging from you, he will forgive them. I also had to go to spiritual counseling and it helped a great deal. Will keep him in my prayers.
And your honey bunny also. Gosh does life ever give us a little break from the stress?
If I am very ill, would you fix me some liver and onions? Guess I could ask my aunt! Love the sheers, but our weather is too rainy for something so pretty. Love and hugs, Pat

  15. Oh My Goodness! You have had more than your share lately! I'm so sorry. I totally understand that your son is having trouble emotionally! It is so difficult to think that these total strangers could change his life so much, and I'm sure he's worried about how long his life is going to be affected by their brutal acts. I'm praying for all of you. (Glad you got your husband to go straight to the Dr.) Your porch looks lovely with the curtains and lights. laurie
