Why I Blog

I bought a new camera today and practiced with it and wanted to show you some eye candy before my "monologue" so here it is first. Now on with the original purpose of this blog post.

For the past couple of weeks I've read some blogs where women are giving up blogging. I wondered why. Oh, I can understand wanting or needing to take a break and I'm the same way. But for me, it's a creative outlet. One doesn't have too many "creative outlets" in a smallish town in southwestern Idaho! Trust me. It's a different world from the California life style we were used to. Don't get me wrong; I love Idaho and wouldn't move from it but it's a wee bit behind what we're used to. I truly DO love it here.

But I need a creative outlet - always did and always will. Blogging is my creative outlet. It hones my writing skills and my photography skills. I was the worst photographer before digital cameras were invented but they are improving dramatically! I love being in touch with the rest of the world and I do that with blogging. I love looking at arts and crafts and beautiful rooms and eye candy. I love creating beautiful things. I never buy anything that isn't useful or beautiful for my home - NEVER! If it gives me pleasure and makes me smile and/or is lovely, then it's mine.

I like meeting new people and sharing ideas. That is so easily done on the internet. AND as my daughter puts it so succinctly "virtual friends relationships" are much easier to maintain. She's absolutely correct in that! While I love lunch with the girls once in a while I do get that with a group of women from my church every month or so and that's great. (Feed me and I'll follow you anywhere!). But they might not meet a certain need that others on the internet can provide. That's why I love blogging with so many different kinds of people who share a kindred spirit with me. Plus I love encouraging and uplifting people and I think I do it well on my blog as others have emailed me and relayed their feelings about this.

I see blogs that blog about one thing, and one thing only, but that's not me. Ooooh, I love those blogs and visit them frequently but I have too much in this brain to blog about that to only blog about one thing isn't going to "do it" for me. I want to "get it all out" I guess. I want to uplift and encourage, share my random thoughts and musings (that may be redundant, not sure!), share my home that is very special to me, share my creations, share my town, share my life (limits, of course) and share our zaniness, humor and wit with all who can stand it. So I'm of the "don't subscribe to just one thing" type of blog. Frankly, there is so much to blog about I doubt if I'll live long enough to do it all! And yessssss, I live my life in "exclamation points"! I even talk that way, chicks. I'm just an intense and lively energetic person.

I don't want to change the world; I just want to be happy and to help others be happy with what they DO have and not lust for things that are of no importance in the scheme of things. Simply put, I blog because it gives me pleasure and makes me happy and to think it makes others happy just puts icing on my cupcakes!

A rose in one of my bouquets in my home. Enjoy. ;-)

  1. I'm with you. I blog for myself. It's sort of like an online diary that let others read too. Sure I would love to be the most popular blog out there but I'm not and I know I never will be.

I have met some great women both on line and in person because of blogging.

I've learned a lot of tips, ideas, secretes and found treasures because of what others have shared.

To me blogs are almost like on line magazines. You can pick them up and read a little at a time or spend all day reading. It's up to you.

Only we get to know all the founders.

I enjoy blogging and I enjoy reading others blogs and I'm sad when some of my favorites just go away without even saying good bye.

  2. Connie Your new camera takes great Pics!I'm loving mine too.Trying to get the hang of it all still but i Love it.Hugs, jen

  3. There is always so much to enjoy in your posts Connie, I look forward to visiting you each day!

  4. Good Morning Connie... I think blogging is fun... Sometimes it gets to be a little much spending so much time but I enjoy it... I am always curious how many hours a day do people spend on the PC blogging... Have a great day

  5. Good morning,

We have very similar reasons to blog. I also really love using my blog as my journal and a diary of our life. It is so fun for me to randomly pick a month for example Nov of 2007 and read what was going on in our life. It often turns out to be like the movie Wonderful Life and I say the famous line "we really do have a wonderful life!" when I see back on all the fun family times we have!

After my blogging break and a very mean comment, it seems that I have not gotten back my passion for blogging. I am hanging in there though because I do enjoy it and I am hoping the passion will return. At my peak I would see any little thing and get a great idea for a post, now I have big things going on and I don't even feel like taking pictures. Go figure.....

You keep it up sweetie. One thing you didn't mention is that it is a ministry for the Lord. God calls us to uplift and encourage one another and you do that, not only with your posts, but with the comments you leave on other women's blogs!

    Have a great day!
    Love, Sharon

  6. Morning, Dear Connieness! Oh, I'm so glad you blog because you do make me happy! I'm like you - I'm not about theme blogging - I like variety and life! We're fun gals and I bet we'd have a great time in person, don't you?
Be the sweetest sweetie you can be,
    Shelia :)

  7. hi connie,

i love blogging. it is such a wonderful creative outlet. i enjoy writing, taking pictures (even though i don't always have patience to wait for the best light), and doing layouts. i continue to meet such wonderful women, which is so fun to me, especially since i've always been the kind of joke-y girl hanging around with boys.

now i'm the joke-y mom of boys, relishing my found time with my creative posse of online girls, like you!

  8. Quit blogging? Yeah, I go there every day! lol

There is so much to blog about, so many people to reach out to, but at times I understand the little fish syndrome that the WWWeb can give those who are shy about what they're doing in the first place.

BEAUTIFUL!!! Oh, I hope the wild abandon and this shot made everything 'rosy' with LB. It's wonderful!

  9. I just started a blog and this post was great to read!! Makes me think I made the right decision! :-)
I found yours via Vanna's...I'll be back! Laura

  10. Love your rose♥

Have fun with the new camera☺

  11. Connie:

What a wonderful thoughtful post. I too love blogging and visiting other blogs but I worry that I may let it get out of hand, take too much time and then I think maybe I shouldn't do it but I have no close friends and I like to "talk" to people and blogging fulfills all of that.

  12. HI...just found your blog today. It's beautiful. You really said a lot in this post. I've just been blogging a few months and find it's sometimes hard to explain to non-bloggers why you do what you do! LOL But I do love it and love it espcially when I run across kindred spirits who love and are into just about everything! Great post!
    Elaine :)

  13. HI..just found your blog today. It's lovely. Your post today was so interesting. I've just been blogging a few months now and I find that its sometimes hard to explain to non-bloggers why I do what I do! LOL I do love it though espcially when I run across kindred spirits who enjoy so many different things. I'm sure I'll be back. Elaine :)

  14. Well, looks like I might have left you 2 comments....thought the first one didn't take but now I see the blog approval thingy LOL
Take your pick....I meant both of them!
    Elaine :)

  15. Dear Connie, I couldn't agree with you more about blogging. I love your site. Keep up the good work! When one has days that are a little gloomy, it just makes a person happy to read inspirational words and view beautiful sights. I think it is a positive outlet. So I thank all of the creative ladies out there that provide me with this wonderfdul entertainment! Hopefully, sometime in the future I will start my own blog.

  17. Dear sweet Connie, I'm pleased to have found your blog sometime ago because you blog for all the right reasons. I agree with all the points you have made in todays post and hope you will keep on blogging and being a virtual friend for a long time to come.

  18. I totally relate to this post. I also love what Joanne said..she is another blogger that I just enjoy reading so much. I think ultimately a blog is an outlet..and I know I enjoy reading about what is going in everyone's helps me in so many ways to know I am not alone in my thoughts, my feelings, my beliefs, my ideas, etc.......I hope I never reach a time when I feel like I have nothing to say or share....

  19. Hi Connie,

This is a nice post and I understand your feelings. I also blog for my outlet too. I think your new camera is grand what kind did you get, I am on the lookout for another one that does justice to the items I am photographing.

    Kindredly, Lynne Laura

  20. I very much enjoy your blog and I won't be giving up my blog anytime soon either. Sometimes I think it's therapy for me because I don't want to blog negatively- so I actually can make MYSELF feel better by focusing on the fun, funny, ridiculous side of life. Every once in a while I get serious, but not often. And when I do, all the comments lift me up and that to me is a gift.

Keep on bloggin' sister and I'll keep on visiting.

  21. Hi Connie, so glad you are not ever giving up on blogging!! I don't have a blog, but I so enjoy reading yours. Also, love how the studio is looking!!! Liz

  22. My world is a richer place because of you, dear sis!

    Keep on keepin' on!

    Love you,
