Lunch with the Girls

Once a month on a wednesday we have been getting together to eat and socialize. I've told you: feed me and I'll follow you anywhere. I think that's why I married Love Bunny; he fed me Shoney's Big Boy hamburgers and had me hooked! Anyway, this is the group of "young ladies" that meets in a deli for sandwiches and gossip. Okay okay, just kidding about the "gossip" part. We actually try to solve the world's problems. Okay okay, lying about solving ANY kind of problems, too. Who am I trying to kid, huh??? We get together to stuff food into our faces! But this is us, chicks!! Well, most of us. Some came a little late. I was, after all, the photographer because I'm the most savvy chick in this group when it comes to computers and cameras. Sad, ain't it?!?!

I don't know if you can get this bread called Classic Harvest but if so this is the place they make it. Right in this building. They also have this little deli and it's a sweet place to visit. Small and peaceful and delightful food. I had ham with olives, onions, tomatoes, spring lettuce mix, sprouts (left over from my San Francisco yuppie days) and herbed cream cheese on a dark sweet bread. Yummmm.......

Being Home #3

There is nothing exciting or glamorous about my life. I'm a simple person and not prone to theatrics or drama. I live simply with my "fluff" and pink stuff and rooms in a simple middle class home. However, I am an interesting person when you take the time to know me. My life revolves around my home, but there was a time before moving here when I was the highest paid woman in one of the very top Fortune 500 companies. I loved my job but I truly love being home more.

My routine is mundane for the most part but once in a while I get to go to a doctor appointment or dentist or beauty shop. Ya know you're in a rut when a visit to the urologist is a thrill!! ;-)

I start by making my bed every day. I love the feel of my bed mattress and sheets. Sheets are very important as I've stated in posts from a long while back. I love cotton and they way it makes me feel. I'm a very sensual person - meaning gratification of the senses: feel, smell, visual. I smell things others don't and feel things others don't. Just ask Love Bunny and he'll tell ya!

I love putting creams and lotions on my hands, back, feet and legs. Mostly I'll start the day putting this wonderfully scented cream on my feet. It does make a difference in the softness of feet!

Then I love the feel of soft cotton on my feet. Feet are the one thing we take the least care of and they are so important because if your feet hurt you can't do much, my little cherubs.

Breakfast is my least favorite meal unless hubs takes me out for biscuits, gravy and hash browns(!) and trust me, neither one of us needs it so breakfast is usually a piece of fruit for me. A pear, watermelon piece or an apple.
~*~

I finished making the valances for the new sewing and craft room. I wanted to punch up the color a bit with this pink toile and it certainly does add brightness to that side of the room.
~*~

My hair grows incredibly fast. I get it cut every 3 weeks probably and don't like spending much time in a beauty shop so I only get it "done" when she's cutting or perming it. Otherwise I do it myself because I know how I like it and can satisfy myself AND save money. This is the little chickee that cuts my hair. She is the most incredible hairdresser I've ever had. She is very talented when it comes to cutting hair. How do I know this? Because I get compliments all the time on my hair plus I just told you: she's the best hair cutter I've ever had! She's worth much more than she gets, trust me! I tip her well because she's the one in power when she has this hair in her hands with the scissors. ;-)

This is her darling 5 year old daughter. I imagine this child keeps her quite busy. She's gonna be a pistol like her mama. :-)

Most people hate going to the dentist I think. NOT meeeeee! I love it but it may be because I have an excellent and talented and perfectionist dentist. While you're supposed to go every 6 months because of insurance and we're private pay I decided I want to have my teeth cleaned every 3 or 4 months. I just like the feel of clean teeth and since we don't have insurance and are private pay I have that freedom. It has saved my teeth many times. I've told Dr. "T" that his job is to make sure I leave this world with all my teeth. He said that's his goal also! We're definitely in sync with this goal, chicks!

This is the woman who has cleaned my teeth for several years now and she's doesn't mess around with me. She scolds me when needed and tells me I've done a good job when I have. You don't get away with anything with this chick! Funny, but most people will brush reeeeealllly good for a dentist appointment. Trust me, you'll NOT fool them. They know if you're not a regular brusher or flosser. Don't believe me???? Just ask your own dentist. In fact, I usually stop for a krispy kreme donut just driving to his office. I tell them I do and it's up to them to clean all that sugar off. They do!

Greeenhurst Nursery #11, Pink Saturday and An Award

Last post was my tale of woe with the computers so I need to apologize to Queenie of Somewhereintime blog for taking so long to respond to her sweet award to me. She's given me the "A Perfect Blend of Friendship" award. Queenie/Christie always posts pictures of her family, state, home and gardens. I thoroughly enjoy visiting her blog because she exhibits her love for her family in her blog. And that's what is all about: family. So thank you, my sweet cherub.
*

Do I have the same friends from childhood? Nooooo, I was a military brat and traveled and lived in many states. I know no one from my childhood days. Memories, yes, but actual relationships, no.

What do I value most about my friends? That would have to be their ability to put up with me! I'm very opinionated and never hold back on stating those opinions. ;-)

Are my friends sounding boards? You betcha!!! But hubby is my best sounding board because he doesn't put up with my "theatrics or hysterics" and lets me have it with both barrels. This is done lovingly and with an attitude of trying to help.

What is my favorite activity to share with friends? Eating!! Going out to lunch and just chatting with them. Feed me and I'll follow you anywhere, chicks!

Now, I'm not selecting just one person; I want all who read this and want to answer the questions to do so. I love hearing about other people. My only request is that you email me through the email link on the profile page and let me know you've answered the questions. Yesssssss, I DO care and will be waiting for your answers! Just let me know.

Now, for more treats from the nursery.

This is their "bar and spirits" area. I'm not a drinker so I only got a few shots here because once you've seen a bottle of wine you've seen them all. ;-) Truly it was just a small area though. I love that chair though and those little things hanging on the table are relaxation disks. Beautiful music is played though out the year in this establishment. No rock here, just classical.....for the plants, I'm sure, but I love classical music.

Look at that gorgeous lamp - one of so many in this place.

I love aprons and this one is one of the cutest I've ever seen. Red polka dots! Look at those lime green totes also. Dahhhhling......

More Christmas dolls.

These are adorable also.

This is the wall leading into the "kitchen" area! It is so colorful with red and lime green. Are those this year's Christmas colors??? Hmmmmm???? I wonder....

This is the "french country" area. That satin quilted table cover has feathers on the bottom. My friend, Stephanie, would love that! Blingggggg!!!! Stephhhhhh, smooches for our mum!!! Make sure she reads this one. We share a "mum" but I think Mum loves me the best!! Hah.....

The french farm house table. I doubt that it is an antique but it is gorgeous!

Just more "eye candy" down an aisle.

A wall in the "kitchen" area. Aprons, dishes, unique ornaments reminiscent of olden days.....fantastic.

Now, I thought this was a fantastic idea. Remember the paper chains we used to make in school? Well, they've taken it to new heights with pretty papers, not just the construction papers we knew as children, but delicious polka dots, plaids, stripes in pink and greens. I loved this idea for even a fireplace or across the top of a door or window.

And here is that little apron in the above photo unfolded. Black and white checks with pink trim. Squeeeeeeeeal!!!

Shot of standing at one end and taking picture of other wall of "kitchen" area. The wall with the colorful red and lime green gadgets is on the other side of the right side of this photo. Just to give you a bit of perspective. This area looks like "Candy Land"!!

That stove is an antique. You're just seeing the door. I'll have the full one in another group of photos. As I've said I got over 200 photos that day and I'm taking them as they come mostly. Aren't those dishes cute? And the "popcorn" balls? Nope, nothing is real. Nooooo, wait, those little lollipops in the bottom of photo are real.

Greenhurst Nursery #10 and A Bit of Advice

It is soooooo good to be able to post normally again. Well, that's not quite true; I won't get my desktop back for another day or two. But can you imagine not having your computer for a week??? Chickees, let me tell ya, my life is on that desktop. My photos (until I burn them to a DVD after about 700-800 photos), my Quicken, billpay, food storage, notes, everything! I was having withdrawal. It could have been disastrous but I have an external HD and it backs up on my Mac G5 every single hour. I was able to use that external HD to transfer over the complete contents of my desktop G5 to my MacBookPro in about an hour. Luckily I used Love Bunny's G4 to check email. Then I started having trouble with my laptop soooooo I went into Boise for more memory. Before that it was my wireless router going out. Sooooo I bought another one. Get my drift here. Stress City!! Whooooooa! Plus the "just daily stresses" of life. Oooooh, and my PhotoShop decided to go wacky and I couldn't find the disk to re-install so had to buy a new one! When it rains, it pours in this household.
:-) <------------- Me trying to keep a happy face on things!

Now, I must advise here: get off site backup for your computer. I'm going to subscribe to Carbonite when the Mac version becomes available after the first of the year. I do NOT want to "beta" test so I'm waiting. This is good because if your home is destroyed and your computer is toasted you will have all your data - photos, Quicken, records, food storage file, "LIFE" on a backup outside of your home. You have got to trust me on this. It is worth the few dollars a month to have this so you don't face a disaster. I've been saved by my external HD 3x now from my own silly mistakes. Yesssssssssss, I do make mistakes - rare, but it does happen!! Just ask hubs!! Nuuuuu, on second thought, don't ask hubs.... ;-)
~*~

So let's continue with pictures of the nursery. I'm too tired to make a lengthy comment on each photo so I'll make it quick since it's getting late here and I'm pooped after today. Just remember that we have not yet come to the french country part, the kitchen part, the lotions and creams part, the lovely shoe part or various "other" parts of this nursery. I'm trying as fast as I can, chicks!! You really miss a lot of the "stuff/fluff" if you do not enlarge the photos.

Little storage cabinets abound in this place. Isn't this darling?!?!? Squeeeeeeeeeal!!!

Bit of "bling" with these frames.

Have you ever seen such darling aprons?! And I believe there are more in the coming photos......

Okay, that's it for today. Until next time.

I'm Back..........

I've been experiencing problems on the hard drive on my desktop. I've been trying to get it fixed for several days now and haven't been posting, chicks! But I'm back now. Thank goodness for external hard drives and laptops. It's been a mess and I've been checking messages using hubby's G4 computer but I've spent so much time with the MacLife technicians that their wives are becoming suspicious! LOL You'll see more posts starting tomorrow. I've missed being on here and am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with 2 of our computers, a new hard drive on one of the Macs, upgraded from 512MB to 2 GBs(!) and a new wireless router. Why is it that when one thing goes it's a domino effect??? Hmmmmmm?
~*~

I'll leave you with just a smidgeon of "eye candy" of what's to come tomorrow. ;-)
An upside down Christmas tree! Isn't this adorable.
