Now In S. Calif.

We arrived at son's house safely. Traffic was terrible along I5 with all the vacationers returning home. Whew.... and had a fire along the fireway which slowed us down. Seven hours from SF area to inland area of S. Calif.

I'll download some more pix and post them later tonight or tomorrow. This is part of pix I have from daughter's back yard. I'm gonna talk her out of some more stuff when I go back. Hah. I can see some things I already want for my back patio and front porch.

Back porch/deck
Window in kitchen looking over back yard.

Another look at back shelving for her pots.

Another rose bush in front yard.

Isn't this rose gorgeous?!?!

Another gorgeous rose.

Can you believe this is a geranium? It is.

An Award From Char!

Okay, it's monday the 7th and just getting back to finishing this. My picks are: Fitty, Cathy, Deb, Judy, Mary, Katie, and Elizabeth. Check out these "neato" blogs, my little blogging buddies! They are so cute.

The rules for receiving this award are:1) Put the logo on your blog.2) Add a link to the person who awarded you.3) Nominate at least 7 other blogs.4) Add links to those blogs on yours.5) Leave a message for your nominees on their blogs.

I've just received this award from Char of Someplace In Thyme. Thank you, my sweet thyme chick!! How absolutely wonderful of her. I've never received an award and I echo Char's sentiments! But sweetpea, never give up!! Just keep blogging even if it's for just you. It satisfies a need within me to blog. I suppose I'm making an impression on some people with the comments I get and they are most gracious. I'll finish this up this afternoon with the requirements because Love Bunny is standing over me saying "let's go!!" So we have the drive down I5 to Riverside and Moreno Valley to see the other kids and grandkids. Plans have changed so many times in the last couple of days I've just told him to tell me when to seat this little bum in the car and point me in the right direction. Ta ta for now, sweet bloggers. I have some pictures for you toOOooOOoo!!!! Oh my, wait till you see Nan's house....... Tease, tease, tease........and wait till you see what I'm steali...........uhhhh, helping her to de-stash from her house!!! ;-)

In California Now!!

As most of you may know we headed down to California friday in the car. I really love the car ride through Idaho, Oregon, Nevada and into N. California and I ain't flyin' anymore, my sweet chicks!!! Nuuuuuuuuuu way!! The drive is pretty much desert till after Reno and then we start seeing some trees. I'm not going to bore you with a lot of pix but the first pix below is how deserted the freeway was on the 4th. Pretty fast going the whole way!! The 2nd pix is of the Altamont going into the Oakland/SF area and to me is one of the most beautiful sights in the world. It just reminds me of the goodnes and beauty of God's creations. Plus it means we're almost home. Well, to our "other" home - daughter's house! Hah! However, when we return home I just may have to strap the Love Bunny to the roof of the car and tell him NOT to smile or his teeth will be...........well, you know! Because of all the good deals I found while thrifting with daughter saturday it may just fill the trunk and back seat! Look down............

Daughter's house with about 100 rose bushes in the front yard!

These are just a few of some of her roses.

I didn't even have to leave her shed to get my first load of goodies, sweet ladies!! Wooooohooooo!!! I confiscated these 2 little french wire baskets and that little 3 drawer chest she keeps the large outdoor towels in. FREE!!

Okay, I'll go take some more pix of what else I got today out thriftin' and post them the next day. I'm sooooo excited I'm doing the happy-thriftin'-chick dance! Squeeeeeealin' with delight!!!!

"Pink Saturday" July 5th!

Another "Pink Saturday" and I'm just so happy to be here with you lovely little chickees!! Descriptions are below each photo, my sweets.

I bought this lovely vintage sewing drawer from a woman on ebay and just adore it. It hold my disks for my computer software. Did I ever mention that I absolutely love computers???? Well, I do, my little bunnies. I'm quite proficient and love designing graphics for my own personal pleasure. But, anyway, I love this little "storage" case and my daughter made me a mosaic one also. How lucky can one woman be?!?!?!

Now, I'm embarrassed to tell you that these are my first attempt at selling one of my hand painted items. Of course, it didn't sell or I couldn't be showing you this.....well, I could, but I'm not a proud woman when it comes to this. I'm realistic. I share my feeble attempts with my loving friends in my group but I don't like to embarrass myself much more than I regularly do.....which is quite often actually. I saved an old egg carton from the store, filled it with real looking "grass" and threw in a lot of "pink" and frou-frou-y things but I guess no one like it well enough to buy it so it now sits in my office. Their loss is my gain I suppose.

When I first started selling on ebay (and I pretty much don't now) I always said there would be a rose in each of my listings. I used this rose on 95% of the photos. My guess would be that some gals out there were asking if I had an obsession with roses! Well, of course, I DO!! But no matter, that rose showed up in just about every picture.

A "virtual friend" of mine was going to throw out this painting of hers. She had painted it as practice (PRACTICE?!?!) on a board and didn't like it on that board so I said I'd buy it. I really liked it. She said it wasn't worth anything and would give it to me if I paid shipping. Now, does this look like a stupid face to you??!?!?! Nuuuuu, don't answer that!!! So that is how I came to "own" this cute little painting on a wood board.

I've got my eyes on you, little chicks!! :-) I adore rose bowls also and just threw some little pink crystals in the bowl and asked the mommy and baby chicks if they'd guard them for me. They agreed so here they are "guarding the jewels"!!

This bowl is so reminiscent of McKenzie-Childs that I had to have it. Isn't it just as stunning as their highly priced stuff?

A woman in my group made this for me and sent it without me knowing. Can you imagine the thrill and delight of opening this with no idea I was even getting anything, much less this adorable creation?!?!

I tried selling this most lovely barkcloth pillow on ebay but again no takers. So I was lucky enough to keep it for my own home. I really can't imagine no takers on this divine roses pillow, but some people have no taste! :-)

I make these by the handfuls sometimes. Then I just scatter them about in bowls, pin them on curtains and also make pins out of them to wear as corsages on jackets or coats.

A vignette I keep on my kitchen counter above my sink. A beautiful little blue clock with roses, a decoupaged container that I usually keep a tooth brush in to clean my rings but took it out for this picture. Also, a packet of rose scent given to me by a lady I bought something from recently. I tell you that packet has fragranced my dining room. Then I moved it here and it is gloriously scenting my kitchen area. It smells divine and is very powerful.

I also use watercolors when I make paper roses. Oh, I'm not excellent at it but I do give it a try once in a while when I have time. I don't want to go through life and not TRY to do as much as I want to do?? I love making the paper roses and coloring them. I leave my pots of paint out in a discreet area of my kitchen just for my own pleasure and to see the pinks and yellow together - one of my favorite color combinations.

I do hope you enjoyed yourself for a few minutes, sweet cupcakes!! ;-)

Pink Corner Shelf Redo

I got an email from a lady in Texas who said that her mother-in-law and I were the only 2 people she knew who had a "dislike" list and tripe was on it!! I had to laugh. If you're clueless, scroll down my blog and on the left side you'll see "things I'm not too fond of"– read it and you'll understand. In fact, I doubt most people read the sidebars on blogs. I do!!

I couldn't help myself; I had to paint it white. The pepto-bismol pink color was a tad too much for me. Oh, I love that color, just wasn't sure I wanted that strong a color on such a big piece of furniture in my room. So I repainted it this morning. I can add some decals later, but I had to do this quickly since we leave for Calif. tomorrow morning. Hubs will be pleased I think.

I'll also be posting from the road! Hey, I can't let all you sweet little chickees down, can I?!?! Hah..... Maybe I'll post my daughter's house and my son's house or some fabulous shop I may stop at along the way. That is if I can get Love Bunny to stop long enough. It's usually stop for gas, hurry to the bathroom, grab a bite and eat in the car so we can get there! We don't have the kids crying any more for dad to stop so they can go potty. Now it's ME crying with my face drawn back like we're at mach 10 speed driving through the Nevada desert to stop for a potty break! Well, at least it smoothes out the wrinkles!

Then while putting away a freshly ironed tablecloth, I spied these little salt and pepper shakers. Now, I believe in having shakers in 3 places when I have company - one set in the middle of the table and 1 set on one corner and the last set on the opposite corner. That way no one has to say "please pass the salt and pepper"!! I told you I'm OCD about things and the comfort of people in my home is upper most in my mind when they visit. But aren't they cute? I have 4 set though purchased many years ago. So I'm going to list these on the selling blog – La Maison Rose. Oh, and some of you may notice I added some "grass" to the other little pedestals. I think it looks kinda neat!
