Loud-Mouthed Cell Phone Users

Technology. Love it. Cell phones. Hate them.

I rarely ever use my cell phone. I keep it for emergencies if I'm in the car and have car trouble or need to call hubby if I'm alone. It's really just a security measure for me. Going out to eat in restaurants and listening to the loud-mouthed man/woman at the next table is an affront to us all who want to dine in peace and quiet. Or going to a store, waiting in line, and a loud-mouthed woman gives her whole love life/history/latest battle with the kids, etc., you know what I'm talking about, to her friend on the phone in the loudest voice on the cell phone. I'm really, really danged tired of it. The next time that happens I just may confront the person on bothering those of us who do NOT want to hear her problems loudly discussed while waiting to buy something. It's rude, offensive, obnoxious and disgusting to me. If you're guilty of this, stop it. Now.

Now, Love Bunny and I both have cells. As I've said, mine is rarely on, but I am on our land line sometimes and hubs will walk into the room on his cell phone while I'm talking. It doesn't do for 2 people in the same room to be on phones at the same time.

The other day he did it and I screamed at him that I was on the phone. Three times! I mean shouted out loudly. He later said he didn't notice I was on the phone, but I don't see how he could miss it. I had to shout 3 times and that's embarrassing to have to do it while he's talking business with someone, but this has got to stop. The person entering the room, usually him, should vacate the room asap. We'll have this discussion again as he tends to forget when he's concentrating on the phone but I've had enough of it. Especially the loud-mouthed women in the register lines at the stores. And restaurants? I won't even go there. I think these people just want to show they're "important." Well, don't do it in my space, guys. You impress me but it's a negative impression I'm getting. As I've said, two people cannot be in the same room when both are on cell phones!!!! Rant over. For now!

Oh, but there is one good point to cell phones: I call him on it when he's in another room, in the garage or outside in the yard, instead of yelling. (I learned this from my son because he has such a large house and called his wife from the family room when she was upstairs in the bedrooms.) Hubs has hearing aids but doesn't use them much, usually for church or when I insist. He talks much softer when they're in. Otherwise, I repeat myself several times. Losing hearing is a factor in aging but his was caused mostly being in the Marines and taking recruits shooting. He made them wear ear suppressors but he didn't. When we're young, we never think of that. But rock bands probably have absolutely lost most of their hearing. It does take its toll on our ears. Be very careful.

Yes, I love this bedroom also.

Darling way to display kitchen items.

What a cute bottle. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it.

Another romantic cottage on the water. Sigh...

The hangers are what drew my attention.

My kind of way to gift wrap—PINK!

A "sweet" luncheon.

Just some more eye candy with roses on the letter holder and tulips in the pitcher for you.

A bit of lace curtains on the window.

Lovely balcony with lots of flowers around it.

What a gorgeous building. Not sure where it is though.

Colorful little sitting area with lots of bold colors.

Not roses, but the name escapes me for now.

An idyllic little spot to sit and read. Very unique hanging lamp.

More eye candy for ya, chicks!

  1. Such lovely pics Connie! I keep a cell for emergencies only. I am continually amazed at how many cannot seem to make a move without calling someone.

  3. Amen! I am in total agreement with on this cell phone business. People act like if they do not have it in plain view or talking on it, life would end. I have one of those pay as you go phones, and it is for emergency only if I am out on the road. No one knows my number, in fact I do not know it without looking. Wonder how we made it years ago without them.

  4. Amen! I am in total agreement with you on these cell phones. People act like it is a life or death situation if they do not have one in their hand or in their ear. I have one of those pay as you go phones. Strictly for emergencies use if I am on the road and need help. No one knows my number. In fact, I do not know it myself without looking. Wonder how we made it years ago without them. World advancements are great if used in moderation.

  5. I only have a cell phone but I do not use it when I am in line or driving or anything else like that. I know exactly what you mean about those who talk loudly and we can hear their entire life history. I also have hearing loss. Mine is from when i was 13 I had a bad ear infection and my ears were blocked and I didn't tell my mom for fear of getting in trouble. Now my mother would not have been mad that I was sick, but I was 13 and well 13 year olds can imagine a lot of stuff. When my mom DID find out (a teacher at school flat out asked me if I could hear in the classroom and I said no because I didn't want to lie to hime) mom had asked me time and time again, but I thought I was going to be in trouble, not realizing how concerned she was. Long story short, I immediately went to the doctor (mom had already made the appointment before the teacher called her but at least she had the confirmation she wanted). I had to get tubes in my ears, but I did permanent damage to my ears and I have about 30 to 50% hearing loss in both ears. I can't remember exactly how much. I do not use hearing aids as I get big headaches from them. As a musician, when i was in a band, I ALWAYS wore ear plugs so I didn't damage my ears anymore. Fortunately, I hear well enough that I can teach piano and voice along with a few other instruments. Thankfully, my mother did not wait for me to actually tell her the truth, she just went ahead and made the appointment or goodness knows how much more damage I could have done.

  7. You make me laugh. I always enjoy reading your posts. I am guilty of using my cell to call my hubs from another room - yes, the technology these days!

  8. There's nothing worse for me when I'm trying to read on the bus or just relax and somebody starts on their cell phones. I have so often been obliged to change seat or just walk off a bus because of it. It makes my blood boil. Sometimes I try to reason with myself but always without success. My nerves have zero tolerance. Two people talking exceedingly loud has the same effect. Some people think they own the bus line. End of rant. I'm getting all worked up here just thinking about it.

I love that beautiful summery ring. I would wear that for an occasion. I can't ever get enough of photos of balconies surrounded by vines and flowers. How sweet are those packages wrapped in pink and adorned with lacey paper ribbon! I could be very happy is that little cottage by the water. It's so inspiring. It could have its place in a novel. Thank you Connie! Have a nice Sunday!

  9. I especially hate the people who use the earpieces to talk on their phones and look right at you while they're talking. You think they are talking to you, then realize they are on their phones! Hate that! I don't want to hear the details of your latest fight with your former bff. Keep it to yourself. My dh will start a conversation on his cell in another room, then walk into the living room where I am watching something on tv to continue his phone conversation. Grrrrrrr. lol

  10. Hi Connie,
I agree with you, I do not like to hear others conversations while I'm out. The hangers you like are crocheted, my Grandma use to make them all the time I think I still have two left. I have been thinking of using up some of my yarn stash and making a few.
I like the cottage by the lake photo too.
I hope all is well, sending hugs Elizabeth
