Pink Saturday 5/14/2011

I cannot tell you how good it feels to simply take a shower or even just wash my hair over the kitchen sink. Having this boot on my foot has lost its luster, let me tell ya. To update you, I had a doctor's appointment 3 days ago. When he walked into the room he asked me where my boot was. It went downhill from there. :-(

Through miscommunication I thought I didn't have to wear the boot. He had a fit when he found a lump on my heel incision. He thinks he may have to go back in if that lump is an injury. We'll know next Tuesday. I was furious with myself for believing I wasn't finished with the boot. Plus he had told me not to drive and I drove there! Love Bunny was teaching and couldn't get out of it so feeling pleasantly well enough I drove. I didn't drive home! I called a friend to come and get me.

Then when hubby called me that he was on his way home that afternoon I told him what happened. I figured he'd come home and get someone to go with him to fetch my car. Nuuuuu, Mr. Macho drives his truck to the doctor's office, switches to my car, leaves his truck there, comes home, rides his bike over there, pitches it into the back of the truck and drives home. What is it with men having a problem asking for help?

But anyway, I'm having to wear the boot even to bed and can only take it off if sitting and watching videos on my laptop. I've now watched over 50 videos from friends and the complete collection of James Bond movies for which my daughter sent me the DVDs. Okay, enough of my travail.

I was in WalMart on Tuesday with hubs—me in the riding cart—and a woman stopped me and said she loved my hair. What is it about my hair that so many women find appealing? Her appeal was its fluffiness. Sometimes it's the color. For Pete's sake, it's only gray sprinkled around a light brown, nothing special I assure you, but her compliment came as a surprise. I said thank you, always the best response, and drove away in my electric cart. But I was still astounded by the flattery, albeit, pleasantly. This photo is today after washing it and feeling marvelously better.

This little shelf was one of my very first attempts at painting. I'm sharing "old stuff" as I simply don't feel stable enough to go out much wearing this boot.

Another attempt at bird nests.

My bouquet will be 50 years old in about 3 1/2 more weeks. I couldn't just stash it away. It is part of my wall decor in the living room.

My Mother's Day rose is finally wilting but I won't throw it out until the petals drop.

  1. Gosh, Connie! Where do we start?! Well, bummer about the miscommunication with your doctor! Don't you just hate that! Men are funny - they don't like asking for help much (I believe that also includes asking for directions). The lady at Wal Mart is right - you do have great hair! And, the picture of your heel - can I just saw OW! One thing for sure though, it is pink and goes perfectly for Pink Saturday. =0) Seriously, I hope it is better very soon!
    hugs!

  2. I do hope that your heel gets better much faster! I love the pictures of your treasures. They are so beautiful. I hope you have a great weekend and enjoy yourself. It is supposed to be a bit colder and rain more here. What can I say? A spring in Michigan.

  6. I can relate to the boot situation. I have had to wear one more times than I care to remember. I had to sleep in as well. However, it was the kind I could walk on some. Trust you soon feel much better and happy soon. I would not have noticed your hair. I would have gone to your eyes. They are beautiful.

  7. Dear Connie, Hang in there chickie-poo. I pray it will get better for you. I had back surgery last year. Three discs later I think I'm a little better. I guess no matter what they do, it's not the same as when we were young! I could go on and on and on about communication with doctors & the husband. Suffice to say his mother had back surgery 2 weeks before mine. Need I say more? No point in making both of us depressed.

  9. Hi Connie Sweetie...
Oh my goodness I am so sorry to hear about your heel. Durn it anyways. When it rains it pours. I will be sending some prayers up that it will not be bad news this next week, and that you are going to be up and at'em again really soon. I know about those darn boots, and it gets heavy and cumbersome. Not fun at all. At least you know what the dr. wants now, and he should have made himself perfectly clear to begin with.

I love seeing your gorgeous hair. It always looks so pretty. I wish I had some body, mine is as straight as a string. The only time it has curl is when I put it there with the curling iron. Now those gorgeous eyes of yours, that is a whole nother story. SO pretty Connie, you are just gorgeous.

Love this share. Please take care of yourself. You may have to go clear back through those James Bond DVDs. Hugs to you sweet one and much, much love, Sherry

  11. Hello Connie, I have missed too many of your posts. Here I am back again with a fervor and happy as a lark.

I am so sorry about your poor foot. What kind of injury is it? I have missed a lot. Your heart shaped injury at least is interesting. It looks sore as heck. I hope it improves soon and quit trying to doctor yourself. Smile. The car/truck episode is such a male thing. What are they thinking sometimes. HA!

Your rose does look pitiful but I can see it was gorgeous. RE: my post. I have always wondered why a rose droops when it obviously has water and it is still only a bud. One of life's mysteries.

I hope you had a lovely Mother's Day in spite of your poor foot.
    Have a great weekend.
    Hugs, Jeanne

Take care and I too love the hair. Happy Pink Saturday, Char
