Creating and Gettin' th' Boot!

Yes, I have been praying very hard for this heel/foot to heal quickly and my prayers were answered. I can now walk, but only with this boot. Let me tell you this is one high tech boot. Whereas my foot in the splint had to be sort of sloped to a downward angle, in the boot is has to be sloped up a bit. He put it on and that had to do some adjustments to it with some steel braces on the side. But at least I'm mobile once again. It doesn't hurt as much as I thought it would to bear weight on that foot. But the tendon is still healing as he had to detach it from the bone and reattach it when done. So we're stretching it slowly over the next few weeks. Slow, small adjustments.

I have to tell you my leg has withered a great deal. The doctor said it only takes a few weeks for the muscles to come back though. Happy ME!

I'm taking these photos with my foot in the boot. It's a hot thing to wear but I am able to sleep without it and sit in a chair watching my action movies that have been lent to me.

I watched this message on my Church's website and am offering it to you all to view as it talks about creating. I think it says it all and what is truly in my heart. I think it will stir your heart also.

Dieter Uchtdorf is in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He's a pilot by profession.

Sorry for no eye candy but now that I can get around more, I'll be photographing again. :-) :-) :-) Can you tell I'm thrilled?!

  1. Hey Darlin'. It's sounds awful but like things are getting closer to normal everyday. You just keep watching those action movies until you're in full action too.

    Love ya, Tracy :)

  3. Poor you! I had to wear one of those ol' boots, too, when I broke my foot. Yep, hot boot in the TX heat, too! During VBS, the kids all called me the Transformer! I did kinda look like a robot wearing it! But at least you can move around now! And do NOT be surprised when you are finally able to remove it for good, 'cause your leg WILL be shrively (is that a word?) and it will take a bit of time to get all your muscle tone back!

    Love you,

  5. Hi Connie! Haven't visited you in awhile and I apologize for that. So sorry you have to deal with one of those boots! I had one too about five years ago when I broke my ankle. I called it my "Frankenstein" boot! It was $500 at that time, covered by insurance, but still $500. I still have it with the hopes of never needing it again. It thrilled me at first also to have mobility. I love your close-up photo in the previous post. You have such pretty eyes!! You have an incredible sense of humor! I love reading your posts and will not wait so long next time!!

  6. Dear Connie,
Oh my goodness, I have missed your posts since I left for my vacation. I did not know you had surgery, you poor dear! I know how foot surgery feels, I was laid up for over two months from bunion surgery.I took a lot of spit baths..don't you just love that saying..LOL. I was so scared to take my first shower and unwrap my foot..I saw stars and told Gary don't leave me alone..You just rest and let you sweet hubby help you ok.
You have just been through it haven't you, first braces and now you foot..and you still have time to post, you amaze me.
I agree with you on your post about blogging. It's a funny world in blog land, sometimes while reading blogs I won't name, they seem to be blogging for followers not to share crafts or decorating ideas, that is why I started blogging, I wanted to share ideas between blogging friends of crafts, recipes, decorating and travel.
I hope you feel better soon!
Happy Easter to you and your family, big hugs~Elizabeth

  7. Hi my dear Miss Connie.... :-)

Well.........the marvels of modern medicine! Isn't it great that you don't have to be in a cast? I've spent many a summer in one of them and they're just no darn fun. I'm happy to hear you're healing and it's not as painful. Moving in the right direction, right?? :-)

Yeah, I'm still a fluffy hair kind of chickie too......not as fluffy as THAT photo though. HOLY COW! I look ridiculous with flat hair........I have so many friends that wear their hair that way and it's soooooo darn cute on them.... Well, they look cute in hats for that matter too. Me and hats? SCARY!

    Huggies!

  8. I wore one of those boots when I was healing from a broken ankle. In fact, I was wearing it when I got married! I had to stretch a big old white sock over it so that it matched my gown.

    Feel better, sweetie.

  10. Hey Darlin', hope your not working that foot too hard. Just wanted to say I was able to get more fabric on the shelves by bolting it and it is so much easier to see and pull from.

Enjoy your Easter weekend. XO's...Tracy :)
