Doing Laundry and Random Thoughts Pink Saturday 2/19/2011

Like most women I do the laundry in our house because I want to. I'm better at it plus I'm sure hubs appreciates me for it. Most of it is pink is some form or another. Who woulda guessed, huh? ;-)

I like thin white washcloths for our bath. I did some appliques to add color to them.

These are the everyday towels for our master bathroom. So far I've given away about 3-4 dozen towels and I still have enough to last me the rest of my life. Why do we collect so many towels? And I do NOT buy cheap towels. I love them soft and very thick. The 3-4 dozen I got rid of I gave to our granddaughter and sold some to a lady on Craigslist for $20 for 14 of them I believe. She was thrilled.

Two of our bath mats for our bathroom. I have 4 total for that room because I wash them regularly but hate to step out onto a bare floor. I like very thick white cotton—on both sides. No rubber-backed rugs for me. I put the extra bunny on top of the washer. While in Washington state visiting our great granddaughter last week I took 2 bunnies to her. Her mummy put them around the house for her to see and crawl over to them and investigate them. I thought it was a clever idea. She tucked them behind potted plants peeking out for Caroline to find.

Many years ago in California at Macys a sales clerk told me about some stuff they sold at the clothing and lingerie counters to get stains out really well. I bought a gallon and it lasted me for years and really was wonderful, but had a hard time finding it here in Idaho. It is call Z-out. So a friend told me about Tide Stain Release. She said it got everything out of her clothing. So I bought it several months ago and tried it on some old stained cotton T-shirts. Some were oil stains washed in for a long time. I just sprayed and voilĂ  the shirts came out sparking clean. I was truly amazed and use it all the time now. Great stuff and I don't get a thing for saying this. Try it.

Just a very closeup shot of my Wash and Iron wood letters in my laundry.

Random Thoughts:

Hubby wore a pink tie and shirt to a get-together recently and a man said that he had a beautiful tie but he couldn't wear a pink tie. Hubs said, "It's been my experience that only men who are insecure in their masculinity are afraid of pink shirts." (Because he wears a lot of pink and red, purple and flamboyant colors.) The man said, "Oooooh, no, I don't have that problem." ;-) Shut him right up.

Then tonight he put on a pair of beige pants and a gray sweater. I just looked at him and said, "There goes a fashion faux pas out the door." He laughed, but he put a coat over it. I dress that man to the nines when we shop! I guess I had to let him have his day, right? "-)

What is it with these chicks that want to increase their booty size? For Pete's sake, I've been trying to reduce mine for years. I read that one young woman died from the procedure. I don't think a beautiful booty is worth dying for.

In the lexicon for women: Mall = Girl Country. If you're even in trouble, just run to the nearest indoor mall and yell "wife beater" loudly and see how many women and men come to help you out. They'll beat the mugger so badly he'll wish he'd never been born!

Children: men who have been in bed with the flu.

I love our new state of Idaho, but there are many, many neighborhoods where the lawn ornaments are Detroit F-250. It ought to be made illegal for Detroit to make lawn ornaments!

Precision matters in the law, brain surgery and lipliner/eyelash.

Mystery has an appeal that documented fact will always lack.

Until next time, chicks. :-)

  1. Connie, I suffer from a cupboard bursting with towels too. I have a passion for towels, almost all white but embellished with lace or embroidery.

  2. I always love reading your posts! LOVE towels - but am partial to all white. Your bunnies are cute and I could imagine your granddaughter crawling around to see them - how sweet!
Hope you have a marvelous weekend - spring is beginning to bloom here - only 30 days!
    Happy Pink Saturday,

  3. Connie,
I love big thick white towels. On the towel bar are rose colored with lace tea towels on top. Everyone knows not to use them and this is the guest bath/my bath room. I love it to look beautiful. My hubby as thick choc colored towed as our bedroom is blue with light brown carpeting. I never had enough towels, lol. They are so expensive, I always put off buying them until next time. Happy PS

  4. I'm good on towels, have just enough, but if anyone wants extra booty-by all means they're welcome to mine:@)

  5. Hi Connie! My husband just got over the flu and you cannot imagine a bigger child! I also love the thin white washcloths, but like the big fluffy bath towels too. And ~ my husband wears also lots of pink but I doubt there is anyone who would attempt to question his masculinity!! He is in total agreement with your hubby. In fact, he has volunteered some of his pink shirts to show off for Pink Saturday!!

Lots of love my Idaho neighbor!
    Susan and Bentley

  6. I am with you about towels! I don't know what it is. A security issue of somne sort? Anyway I love big thick white towels and the same for my bath mats, which are hard to find. I find mine at Target.
    Happy Pink Saturday

  7. I am towel challenged. We have one set for the washer and one for hanging. I also have one set for company but since I don't have overnight guests ( we pay for a hotel) I don't use them often.

  8. Hubby has a FIT because we have more than 4 towels ... well, 'get over it' I told him. I, too, like plush ...
darling fabric trims on your towels & wash cloths.

You are such a pinkie ... love it all!

    Happy PS weekend ~
    TTFN ~

  9. You certainly are patient to do trimming, and they are pretty. It's got to me white for me when it comes to towels and linens.

  10. Happy Pink Saturday Connie Sweetie...
Oh I simply adore the trims you added to your washcloths. I have been trying to find just the right cloth for the front bath, and you have encouraged me to add a simple cloth trim. Why did I not think of that? I have searched high and low for the perfect color combination and couldn't. I should have just popped over here and asked you. Thank you sweet friend for the share.

Now I love that Tide Stain Release, and I am right there with you. It works on everything. I haven't found anything yet that it didn't NAB. I would advertise for that product.

Hope you are doing well sweetie. I love coming to see you. Imagine someone dying for a bootie. Now that one really got me. I mean how about just keeping what God gave you, and calling it good.

Many hugs and much love sweetie, Sherry

  11. How funny Connie, I also embellish all our washrags & towels. Since I sew for a living my stash pile never runs dry! Thanks for the fun share & as usual your keen observations.
    Licks & Wags, Niki

  12. I enjoy soft, pretty towels. I am in need of some new ones. I like yours and the colors.

  13. Oh Connie, you would have a field day at my house if you saw my towels. I love all white, but the ones I use I bought many years ago while on vacation in Turkey. I got them at the grand bazaar. Now they have tiny holes in them, probably because they are over 10 years old, but I just can't part with them......I know, I probably need towel therapy!!
I will have to buy the tide stain remover, thanks for the info on that one. It's always good to know what works before you end up trying everything and nothing does the job just right.
    Happy Pink Saturday sweetie, Char

  14. Connie,

I'm just loving those pretty white towels with the rose trim. What a lovely site when you open up your linen closet to see a sweet pile of those pretties.

Hope all is well sweet pea.

    xo Cathy

  15. Hello Sweet Friend

Thanks for the Tide tip - I use a generic brand and it's hit or miss.

    Love your random thoughts...

  16. Great post today Connie. I love towels and I have a lot of them thanks to a friends aunt who worked at the Fieldcrest company. I have towels put away that I still haven't used and I am like you, I love good towels and big fluffy towels and thin washclothes, but the ones I have in the main bathroom are very thick and hard to rinse the soap out of them. Hope you have a great weekend and hope that knee is doing better. Love and hugs, Pat

  17. Love that sweet bunny peeping over the laundry! I have a thing for bunnies! Jack is funny, glad he said that to his friend!

Loved your Precision Random thought, too!! Yep, the eyeliner HAS to be done precisely!! :0)

    Love you,
    Angelic Accents
