I decided I wanted some ruffles on something. Can you guess what it is? First, I ripped 4" strips from 3 yards of fabric. That gave me a lot to gather with the ruffler. I ended up with over 16 yards of ruffles.
Just before ruffling.

If you guessed they were for the new curtains I made, you're correct. I love the white polka dots on white; plus the ruffle truly does add to the overall effect of the curtains.
Hey Honey. That is a lot of ruffling and a of work. Do you do it with a special foot on your machine or by sewing basting stitches (the only way I know). Whew, it's wearing me out just looking at it. But oh' how pretty you curtains look all frou froued up! I love the white polka dot fabric. And boy wouldn't I like to play in that fabric stash in the background.
ReplyDeleteWell, I best go to bed, I'm beat! Get some well deserved rest after all that ruffling.
Nite-Nite...Tracy :)
P.S. I forgot to send you my address. I'll email you Sweetie. Thanks again!
What energy you have Connie....ruffling isnt the easiest of things to do. They look very dainty and pretty.

I love ruffles, lace, pink, etc. You've done a great job and it looks beautiful!. Are you going to make your slipcovers or buying them? They're hard to make, but I bet you can do it!

Now I'll have to come back to check up on the slicover for the sofa.
Hope you are having a great weekend.

Hi Connieness! Oh, my that's a lot of ruffles! Do you have a ruffle attachment for your sewing machine! I had one once and was making ruffles for a special dress for my daughter and burned that sucker up! :)
ReplyDeleteI do like the polka dots with your new curtains! And white slip covers? Oooh, I think more prettiness is coming to your house.
Thanks for popping in to see my very olden kitchen. Now I would be so honored if you did something like me! You're the best.

woo hooness...i love ruffles, too. I am so into burlap, I think I'll make something with burlap ruffles...wonder what? And, wonder how to make a ruffle? I remember doing one in Home Ec. in high school using a long basting thread. Good grief, that sounds like a LOT of work.
ReplyDeleteI do love your pretty curtains!!
Oh I love this! YOu have inspired me. I have the perfect place to make some ruffled curtains....I need to start making ruffles! Lots of them! Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Debbie
Hi Connie - Love your new ruffled curtains. Ruffles are so in right now, and I would love to learn how to sew them too, especially as a tablecloth. I just have no talent :(

I like it!! The ruffles will look great with your new white slipcovers! I haven't used a ruffler in years, it was fun to make them, I always wondered how the ruffler was invented. I had the old time one, I wonder if they have a new invention these days.
ReplyDeleteKatherine
There is just nothin' better than loads and loads of ruffles.... LOVE them. And, you're right, they did add a lot to you already cute curtains....
