Nesting and Some Random Thoughts 7/6/2010

For me it's all about "nesting." Staying home and cocooning with my hubby. It hasn't always been so to the degree that it is now. For many years I worked outside of the home and my nights and weekends were very sacred to me. But, actually, monday night was my most favorite night of the week to me. No, we didn't watch sports but it just seemed the nicest night of the week for me.

But now as we grow older it is nice to not have to go anywhere if we don't want to. Our church sets aside monday nights for the family and sundays after church for families also. They encourage us to spend as much time with our families as possible because of the busyness of the world.

Several months ago I did a giveaway of some hanging wood elements that said this. I loved those letters but I made another set for our family room. Truthfully, I meant to get the letters H, O, M and E but I forgot when I picked these out. When I got home I decided to keep them and do them in the same fabrics I did them in back then. I cannot seem to find the post on which I gave these away and they're not exactly the same trim but the fabric is.

These will not be given away, but will go either in my living room or my office. I haven't decided yet, but I do know they are mine!

Random Thoughts:

Evil most definitely exists in this world. I've seen it in some people. No, it isn't associated with mental disorders; evil needs no help. It exists just fine by itself. We are all born with the light of Christ, but some people choose evil. Yes, they choose evil! I see it today among many popular persons, and it astounds me how much evil can exist to the extent it does in the world today.

A couple of weeks ago while getting ready for bed, Love Bunny started laughing out loud when he took the pillows off his side of the bed. I asked him what was so funny and he said that I had moved the chair he usually puts the pillows on and all of a sudden it was back that night and he wondered where it came from in just a couple of days. He got me to laughing hard also, but I told him things change around a lot in this house. He should be used to it by now, right?

I saw on the news where that Dutch man killed that young woman in Peru and if found guilty he can get UP TO 35 years in prison. UP TO??!! Where is the sanctity of life? He should be in prison for LIFE for killing an innocent woman. I was astounded.

Scenery isn't particularly interesting to other bloggers when I post it. Oooh, there might be a house or a garden but just plain old scenery? Nahhh. So I don't show it too much. I had hundreds of photos in my collection of places we'd been and it all sort of ran together after a while so I threw them out. After all, when you've seen a mountain, beach, lake or field, that's pretty much it. I don't want to stare at them in photos anymore.

Sometimes people don't know how to take me. I'm cheery, upbeat, humorous and just about always smiling. Why? Because I'm a happy person. (Yes, I do have MY days, but all-in-all I'm happy!) It seems as though they think I'm weird or nuts, but I'm not. I'm much rather be on the bright side than gloomy. I want to water the world with Hope. I think I do, but I refuse to be gloomy on a regular basis as some people are.

When I say I let it all hang out that usually means I'm not wearing a bra.

  1. Your letters will be as gorgeous as ever Connie.
You are so right about evil...it exists and it loves its life. We can only pray against it.

  2. I remember the give away Connie! I loved those letters and I love these. You have a great eye for mixing patterns and colors. I keep meaning to do some letters for myself but can't decide what to spell and have so many other projects I never seem to get around to doing them all. I appreciate your upbeat personality, it's how I am too, athough we all have our days. I just can't stay gloomy or grumpy for long.

  3. Hi Connie! I hope you had a great holiday weekend. Your 'Nest' letter are so sweet. I feel the same way you do about nesting and home. I'm finally back home - a bit overwhelmed with all that needs to be done - but happily with my husband and dogs.

  5. Good morning, Connie girl,
I enjoyed your blog today, just like sitting over a cup of coffee with you and absorbing your love and wisdom.
I loves it when you said "I want to shower the world with hope"
What a lovely thought. I think a lot of the worlds problems could be solved if we could just offer them hope. People seem so hopeless right now...Not much joy out there, everyone trying to outdo each other, instead of walking in love and patience.Love is patient.
    love ya, g
ps. I would like to have my blog single spaced instead of double...any ideas on how to do that without turning my computer inside out...lol

  6. Connie, what a wonderful post today. You made my day about the Nesting. That's what we did last night, until I couldn't hold my eyes open anymore. Al and I are growing closer again and I have all the HOPE in the world at my feet.My favorite words are Hope, Cherish, Dream, and Love and I'm working on the Dream letters right now. Hope to show them soon. I too let it hang out, because of my back and it feels so heavenly-lol. I pray there will be no bras in Heaven. Love and hugs, Pat

  7. Well Connie you are just a breath of fresh air~..~ I just got done viewing the photos of your lovely home. Your home would keep me busy for days....just staring in wonder at it all. You are a busy and very creative lady. I love how you write. You are extremely honest and you are unusual...I really appreciate that in a world of cookie cutter type folks. I have passed by your blog tag or photo of you that tags your blog when you leave comments on others blogs and for some reason thought we would have nothing in common. Your "chickee" comments kind of threw me off I guess? I thought you were a new wave beatnik of some sort and that's pretty funny because I am an old hippie of some sort...or at least I WAS years ago! Then I go to your blog and see the photos of what you look like today, what your blog says about you and I realize that not only do I like you, but I felt ashamed for judging you! Does any of that make sense? I hope so. At any rate...I'll be baaaaaaakkkk....Love your stuff!

  9. Love your nest letters. Can't wait to see where you find a home for them. I agree home is the nicest place to be. And it's just as easy to be happy as to be gloomy. Makes you feel better too.

  10. Hi Connie,

Loved your post. I know I don't visit as much as I'd like to, but when i do, it always is timely. You are right about evil- that is for sure.

I had to laugh about people not sure of how to take you. I get the same thing. I would rather see hope than doubt. It doesn't mean we don't have problems, we deal with them with God's help.

    Love your letters.

    big hugs,
    Barb

  13. Hi, Connie,
I am with you on that bra. When I retired, that was the first thing to go. I only wear one now when I am "going somewhere". Well, that may have been a little more information than you wanted!!! I love all of the letters you do. You use such cheerful colors, and of course, those pretty roses, love them! And my post today is about my nest, and how much I love to be in my own little nest. Have a beautiful rest of the week, sweet friend~ Vicki

  15. I love that you're a happy person!! It's contagious and a breathe of fresh air!! I'm a happy person by nature as well. Sometimes I look around at all of the miserable faces that I see when I'm in a public place and it is so sad to me. I love it when I smile at a baby and they smile back in a totally uninhibited way!! Our baby girl is smiling up a storm and it makes my heart melt. Is that baby on the side of your blog page your new granddaughter? She is gorgeous and you must be so proud!!! : )
