Woodsy Retreats

A common dream of some people is to have a summer place at the beach or a cabin in the woods or the mountains. I think I'd prefer a cabin in the woods. I love being alone with my Love Bunny all snuggled in a cabin surrounded by a river or lake. But here we are in the suburban housing development on the outskirts of Idaho. I like it because there are neighbors around and that seems safer for us retired people. Quiet. Just the right size house for us. But woods bring an atmosphere that we love. I'd want my house in a clearing with woods/trees on the "outskirts" so I could have sunlight but I'd want to see the woods in the distance. Maybe a few trees around but nothing that would block the sunlight, just a few trees for a bit of shade. This is a dream; it will never happen at our stage of life. LOL

This is a rustic look and I think it's cute. Kinda has a woodsy look. It's a style I adore.

I remember going to a home about 15 years ago now and walking into their house. They used their family room as their "living room" because they had 5 boys. The actual living room was used as an office because the father was into sports big time and needed a big "office." I walked in and came eye-to-eye with the biggest dead animal head I'd ever seen in my life. A moose or an elk, not really sure. Not that I've seen too many dead animals on walls. Just didn't get that much in California and the crowd we ran with! LOL But I just about passed out it was so stunning/frightening to me. Nuuuuuuuu, I have no problem with people hunting but the dang thing was so big it took up the space of a very large sofa or even dining table jutting out into the room! Plus it was staring directly into my face! Shock, I tell ya. And not one feminine touch in that house! At least the house below has a feminine touch and is quite cute.

Now, this little cottage is screaming to me to take it home! I would love to have this in my back yard but Love Bunny keeps telling me he'd have to change the sprinkler IF I cared!!! LOL This is adorable!

This is the inside of the little cottage above. Can't you just see it as an artist's retreat painting in that wonderful sunlight??

This is close proximity to the above little cottage. I could live with this too! Love it.

This house is in the woods but not actually woodsy but it is very pretty with all its open windows to the woods so I'd call it kinda "woodsy" and could live here very easily. ;-)

  1. Ooooooooh Connie Bunikins, I SO want that little cottage in my back yard, even have the perfect spot for it. Love your pictures & hey why can't you have that cottage in the woods, you are never too old! Not at all keen on the dead heads,no way in my home, but then everyone is different huh. Also love the little garden picture, just so pretty.
Hope your day has been kind to you Sweet, & hey can just see you & love Bunny cuddled up together.

    Lyn xoxoxox

  2. Connie, can I visit you in your woodland hideaway? I love the feeling of being in a cosy little cabin. Pretty photos.

  3. Connie ~ I love that little cottage ~ ohhh I really want one of those with windows all the way around ~ what a beautiful little retreat !
I am not so much in to the dead animals on the wall either ~ they kind of freak me out ~

  4. Ooooo-eeeee! I LOVE that deck sitting out near the water! How peaceful would that be?!?

    Have a lovely day!
    Margie :)

  5. I just love all these pictures! true eye candy and dream homes.

  6. You know, you can always "redirect" the sprinkler heads! I'd totally go for the grown-up playhouse. I can see spending lots of quality alone time in there! Does it ruin the effect if I put up a 10' chainlink, topped with razor wire fence around a 15 foot perimeter? Don't really want the hassle of the Farmers when mom is in 'the zone'.

  7. Love these pictures... especially the first one... I love the country folk look...and the little cottage... How darling... Thanks for the pics..

  8. Woodsy retreats look very inviting. I could sit on that deck with a book for hours....The colors in the first pic are really interesting and inviting. Such a great mix.

  9. Morning, Connieness! Oh, I just love that last photo! I could live there!
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  10. Hey Connie!
All of these woodsy retreats are gorgeous...I would definately take any of them! I really love the first living's rustic country looking with a bit of romance too! Thanks for sharing these places...

  11. Sweet Conniekins,

Nothing is better than a woodsy cabin in the woods or mountains. Given my druthers, I prefer mountains and woods over beaches. And I love cabins...woodsy, cozy cabins. I love log ones too.

These pictures are all so wonderful!

  12. Everything here is so very pretty. I want that cottage too! I just loved looking at all of these pretty things! And your creative space has turned out so very nice Connie! You really did a great job. The wallies look so pretty and I love the paper lanterns and the covers you made. You do such nice work!!!

  13. I would like to live where I have the best of both worlds...trees/woods and the ocean. The central coast of CA. would be my "perfect dream" location

  14. Connie~ Love the first pic the best!!! Not a fan of dead animals on walls either--even though we do hunt!!! I have a friend who has SEVERAL animal heads on her wall and I always feel like they are looking at me!!! EEK!!!

  15. Hey sweet Chickie; I could live in that cottage too. How cozy and sweet it is. I want a little cottage in my back yard, I wonder if hubby would make me one. Think I will ask him when he is asleep. ha ha

  16. It all sounds so comfy, love your pictures.

  17. Connie~ Head out to Washington. You'd love the woodsy trees here. We had 15 trees surrounding our home at one time. So sad septic problems became their unfortunate demise. I actually cried when the tree my boys had their clubhouse on was chopped down.
I love the Oregon coast for that very reason. T-R-E-E-S!
A cozy cabin with hubs sounds like the perfect retreat.
    Sweet Wishes!

  18. I love the picture with the green shutters. I still have this one book marked in the magazine. But then the garden house is cute too!!

  19. Oh, you tickled me today. I had a recent post on the dead head deal you would appreciate. Love the inspiration though.

Comments are so nice and I thank all of you that leave one for me.
