I've been cleaning out old files lately and have several books of cutouts from old magazines I've kept for years. Now, if I was in my 30s or 40s I might just keep them, but since I'm just about older than dirt I decided to let them go, but only after I scanned them into my computer. ;-) Then I decided to share them with you. Remember, this magazine is from 1979 so that's 31 years ago, but the style of this house is truly ageless. Come see what I mean. And, bloggers, the magazine isn't the best quality since it's very old. Some photos are rather bad but I decided to share no matter what.
It's owned by a decorator in Southern California. She used pink before pink was so popular. This is her living room and her choice of fabrics for the sofa and chairs framing her fireplace are beautiful fabrics.
Her sofa table is almost like mine but mine is burgundy. It may get painted in the summer depending on what's going on, but I love her pink one.

Oh Connie Sweetie...
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous share today. I love, love this home. I especially love that dining room with the huge wall china cabinet. I would love that in my home. You can never have to much space for dishes. Love my dishes.
That master is so wonderful. I can't imagine having a couch in my room. We would be walking over it to get to the bed. Ha! Ha! Ha!
I really love that kitchen as well. Just make my cabinets red please. Oh how pretty that is.
Thank you for sharing. I so love looking at magazines and seeing what is and what was. I have several stacks of my own that I desperately need to scan and get rid of too. Another project, another day?
Have a great Monday sweetie. Many hugs and much love, Sherry
She used some great color combination's for that day! She was definitely ahead of her time. Those colors became real popular six or so years later, didn't they? Perhaps she is one who is constantly on the leading edge, it would be so fun to be like that. I used to be, because I would look at American websites, before blogs were popular, I would see what I liked and then I would go and find the fabrics and such in the USA and I was staying right up there. That was back when I was working, now that I'm a stay at home wife, everything has to stay around for a long time. My white couch is ten years old, I love all but the huge rolled arms on it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting me back, I love to meet people!
Hugs, Cindy
Hi Connie,
ReplyDeleteWE still love those colors, we have just modified them a bit..I remember putting up wallpaper and using the matching fabric for curtains..1979 was a good year the year my second daughter was born. Boy am I getting old.. I was at the eye Doctor for some problems I have been having and he told me it happens to people who are "middle aged" can you beat that...really now...LOL
Have a sweet day and hugs, Elizabeth
What lovley photos ,I oved the glass coffee table that is so today!
ReplyDeleteIf I ever go to fetes or garage sales tis is what I look for I love old magazines!

I love that!!!! Looks like she was ahead of her time with her colors doesn't it? No orange yellow or avocado green that were typical of that era. I love that dining room too but wow that is some wallpaper is it not? But again, it's what makes the heart happy. Great pics, thanks for sharing Connie, that is awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteHow interesting to see that. In 1979 in England everyone was heavily inspired by Laura Ashley, and flowers and tiny designs were everywhere.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first got married in the early 80's, everything in my house was either country blue or mauve. I still love the blue color, but finally let it go! Now, I'm stuck in the "fall" colors.... I keep bringing them in my house and thinking "how depressing". I hope to change it all up one day.... I'm going to buck the trends and go with colors that make me happy!
