Welcome to Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly at HowSweetTheSound. You'll find all sorts of beautiful things in pink so go visit the participants.

I've been trying to come up with some more little flowers from ribbon or scraps. I saw a video doing these with scraps and tried them. Scraps work great; ribbon, not so much. I'll just have to do my regular roses with the ribbon.

First a word of caution to those of you who aren't really familiar with Blogger Buzz out there. I made a decision early on with blogging that I wasn't going to include music on here because mostly it is very byte intensive. In other words, it eats up a lot of "space" and this is especially hazardous to those of you who have a certain limit to your bandwidth. It was my decision to create a blog that was easy to load. Music, sparkly and glittery images use a lot of that. I didn't want to make the experience unpleasant or make you use your bandwidth more than necessary. Text takes very, very little bandwidth. Plus a lot of people don't like music and may not like your particular genre. That being said, this was posted on the blogger site recently from their administrative people. I'd seriously consider whether having music on your blog is worth getting it pulled. I'd also advise you to pass this along to fellow bloggers so they won't be cut off unexpectedly. Here is the post:
Earlier today, word spread about some popular music blogs that were recently removed from Blogger. While we make it a policy to not publicly discuss individual users or their accounts, we wanted to clarify a few things about how and when Blogger enforces its Terms of Service as they relate to our DMCA policy.
Last summer, we updated our enforcement of the DMCA [Digital Millennium Copyright Act]. Our current policy is that when we receive a DMCA complaint, we:
• Notify the blogger about the complaint by e-mail and on the Blogger dashboard.
• Reset the offending post to 'draft' status, allowing the blogger to remove the offending content.
• Send a copy of the complaint to ChillingEffects.org.
When we receive multiple DMCA complaints about the same blog, and have no indication that the offending content is being used in an authorized manner, we will remove the blog.
Inevitably, we occasionally receive DMCA complaints even though the blogger does have the legal right to link to the music in question. Whether this is the result of miscommunication by staff at the record label, or confusion over which MP3s are "official," it happens. If this happens to you, it is imperative that you file a DMCA counter-claim so we know you have the right to the music in question. Otherwise, if we receive multiple DMCA complaints for your blog, this could very well constitute repeat offenses, compelling us to take action.
Update: Should have linked directly to the instructions for filing a counter-notification.
Update 2/11/10: We looked into this issue further and identified one case where a blogger did not receive notification of any DMCA complaints before their blog was removed. We're sorry about this.
We've contacted the blog owner and restored their blog, effective immediately, and we fixed the bug that caused the termination without prior notification. We're also looking into additional preventative protections. We know the DMCA process can be difficult to navigate, and we're working on ways to make this process as smooth as possible.

Now let's get on with the pink part of this saturday. ;-)
Extra guest towels in my guest bathroom.
I love pink and white together but I cannot find this color of pink in decent towels anymore.
My pen cup next to my iMac with my crib notes on it. ;-)
Holds some of my computer and electronics CDs.
Little hanging planter in the entry to my craft room.

I'm with you on the music! I hate PlayList with a passion - it won't play to non-US, so it freezes my computer by up to 8 minutes (I can't even turn it off!) then smugly tells me there's a copyright problem. MixPod doesn't do that. And in either case, should be set to play when you click on it - not blast you with sound as soon as you arrive on the blog. Now there's this legislation, maybe it will improve things all round.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of your keyboard shortcuts on your pencil mug and I'm definitely going to steal it!
Happy Pink Saturday - and I LOVE the new My House page!
Hi, Connie,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your pretty pinks! The box holding your cd's really caught my eye! Very pretty. Happy Pink Saturday to you and enjoy your weekend! Vicki
Love your soft, pretty pinks, Connie!
ReplyDeleteI don't have music on my blog because I can't read with music on!
♥
Always such pretty things to look at , Connie.
ReplyDeleteBeautimous! I love your little "cheat sheet" on your pend holder! Clever girl :)
ReplyDeleteLuLu♥
Hi Connie! Thanks for the music tip. I go back and forth with music on my blog and it makes me sad that there may be future limits on everyone's Internet time. Your towels ARE a yummy shade of pink! Happy Pink Saturday!
ReplyDeleteHi Connie....Sure do like your Stretch Minima background and use of the New Blogger Page Tabs. Pretty cool, huh? I've added a few more to mine as well. Gone is the Music Playlist...no worries there and faster downloading. Sure do like your Pinks today. Happy Pink Saturday! If you get a chance to visit today...check out the newest apron on my ApronIsta Page....It's PINK...Sue
ReplyDeleteHi Connie,
ReplyDeleteLove your pinks - that cheat sheet for Macs is a good idea! I don't have music on my blog because I always find it annoying when I visit other blogs...so I keep my sound on mute. I figure my tastes in music might not be the taste of my readers. Thanks for posting the info from Blogger about music.
xo
Claudia
Love your pinks, and thanks for the heads-up about the music! I've never had it on my blog either, but had considered it. Hope you have a Happy Pink Saturday!
ReplyDeleteSherry @ A Happy Valentine
Hi Connie! Love your pinks and esp. the cheat sheet!
ReplyDeleteHappy pink saturday!
Sparkly hugs(even if they take up bandwith LOL)
Tobi :)
Should I take off my fairy music?
I think that the ruling applies not to the Playlist-type gadget, but to blogs whose purpose is to highlight certain music, or spotlight newly released material.I do have a playlist on mine, as I feel it expresses another dimension of my personality and I enjoy hearing most others...but at my discretion.I do not like when it starts to play as soon as the blog opens, and you can tweak your settings so that your player will not start automatically.Also...if you put your playlist at the bottom of your blog, it will load faster for those with slow connections:)Very interesting post.HPS!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info on the music part..I do not like them at all, especially when it plays automatically and startles me early in the morning.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, your post is loving, especially the last picture..
Aren't the additional pages lovely? All so pretty, but I love the forget me not flowers.
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday! (I'm flying through the list today for some reason. Lots of pretty stuff to see.)
Happy Pink Saturday. Are you enjoying the new camera? I love the box holding your CD's, and the polkadot rose is so cute!
ReplyDeleteI adore those towels!
ReplyDeleteHappy PS!

Pretty pretty Pinks! Thanks for the info on music. I have a hard time loading blogs with it so I too have not added it. I do see what they mean about it not being ok to have.
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday!
Hugs, Lisa
Happy Pink Saturday - I never realized that a playlist makes blogs harder to load and may have to take that into consideration about whether to keep mine or not.
ReplyDeleteHow cozy and homey all your pretty pinks are this week, Connie. Happy Pink Saturday~
ReplyDeleteHi Connie,
ReplyDeleteJust dropping by to say hello and keeping abreast of what's important in blogland. Wow, that is really something about the music being on blogs. Thanks for letting us know.
xo Cathy
I removed my music and blinkies a few weeks ago, basically for Jen, Katie, and others like them. Hope it helps. I didn't realize there was a problem that could get a blog "on hold".
ReplyDeleteI love that cd box holder with the roses! Love the new camera pics, too!
Big Hugs,
Stephanie
