Being Home #5

Being home also allows me to redo a laundry room a little bit when I want to. I decided to put up some of my "original art." I did the embroidery of the geraniums behind the washer and I painted that little board behind the dryer and just hung them there. Some of you might have noticed the embroidery in the entrance to my sewing and craft room but I took those pictures down and decided to put one of them in the laundry room. Ever-changing, chicks!! If I wasn't home so much I doubt very seriously if I'd bother to take the time or initiative to do this. Maybe, maybe not. But I keep telling ya I plan on making every single room in this house a refuge from the stresses of the world—even the laundry room. Why do a menial boring chore in a place that isn't pretty? Get my drift. Now, let's see some of your laundry rooms and what you've done or plan on doing! Come on, don't be shy. Get to it. Not much money to hang a few pictures, seed packets or pieces of vintage linens even. I know because I had scads of them with which to do other rooms soon.

Little packets of laundry soap can make darling compositions when emptied. Just "fun-tac" them up and change them when you so desire.

I decided to hang another little laundry bag I made on this little short wall. It usually has my ironing hanging there so it isn't always visible with Love Bunny's shirts and pants hanging but when it's vacant it makes a tiny "statement" and gives me joy. Notice the border of shabby roses is still up there. Roses in a laundry? Yessssss, got a problem with that? Talk to your shrink, sweet chicks! :-)
Okay, gotta run and get some more things done. I'm never ever idle. Not too bad for an old chick, huh?!

Painting Pink Continues..........

Yep, and so it does continue...........

It's very difficult to show colors and differences on the internet but you can get the idea of how much difference there truly is. Beige to pink. Beige is the hardest color to paint over actually. It will always need at least 2 coats with anything else other than more beige. It might look like I'm overloading with photos but there is a purpose for each one - closer, farther or showing the contrast between the two colors.

Here you can see the contrast pretty well from the living room wall and the hallway wall not done yet. Pink, anyone?!?!?!

Yep, still a mess, but some things will go back into "position" today!! Yippppeeeee, kitchen next.........

I received this award from Gina at catnipinnprimitives and she's a sweetie for giving me this award. I enjoy her blog and invite anyone to visit it.

Now, while Gina is wanting me to select 6 chicks to spread this love around, I think this little puppy needs more help than this! I know this is atrocious for an animal to be treated like this and it may turn stomachs for those of you who are animal lovers but this needs to be stopped. Nothing on this earth should be treated like this. Animals or human beings. So please go to this blog and help do what you can. I will personally email to my family for donations to help this sick puppy. Follow your hearts, chickees. Angie at this blog lovetheprimlook so go see what you might be able to do.

This second award comes from Raggedygirl who lives in the desert. I just happen to love the desert and live in one but I've lived in the Yuma, AZ and 29Palms, Calif. deserts also. There is a stark beauty you don't find anywhere else. It speaks to my heart. I'm supposed to give it to 8 bloggers but my life is pretty hectic at the moment - when is it NOT?!) with the painting and my home being so disrupted, so I'm assigning this award to each of you who read this to pass it on. Please pass it on some blogger you know and love. I'm countin' on ya, chickees!! ;-)

Where I Create #2

The redo is coming right along. I've had Love Bunny put up a couple of big shelves on the wall but I want to do the placement of some other little shelves I've had for years. Having the walls without the other plastic shelving makes a lot of "bottom" room for me to put up a table to craft on. I'll make a skirt for it later. I had my 40 year old Kenmore sewing machine on the new folding card table after having it on that little blue vintage student desk for probably 35 years but I just couldn't sew on it! Just didn't feel right. I love my old blue desk. Do you have some similar feeling for something like this that you simply cannot give up or substituting something newer just doesn't quite cut it? Of course, it's going to be white someday but too cold outside right now to paint it until spring.

This little 2 tiered shelf came from our master bath. It was beside the garden tub. I can put something else in there so this is going on the sewing/craft room wall.

This shelf can hold sewing supplies. I'm making this the sewing side because of the window and the light I need to sew properly. Plus I'll need more room for the craft side because I have enough crafting junk to last a lifetime or 2 Mormons to last ooooh maybe 22 minutes- 20 minutes if they're using the low temp glue gun! Most are much craftier than me. ;-)

They told me when I joined the church that I wasn't a true Mormon until I could bake bread, had a glue gun, a serger, a van, plant a garden and could can a year's supply of fruit and veggies from said garden during the hottest month of the year here in the desert, paint a tole figure to stick in my front yard commemorating each holiday and do freezer jam and done my genealogy back to Adam.

I hate vans, have a serger (comes in handy), cannot for the life of me bake bread even in my bread maker, have only one sign attached to my porch and that tells the solicitors to "back off" because I'm armed to the teeth, buy my fruits and veggies in cases/cans when they're 3 for a dollar as it's much cheaper for just me and hubs and only have genealogy for me, hubs and our 2 kids! I do, however, buy jams at WM and store them in the freezer. Does this count, ya think?!?!?Just let them try to throw me out of the church. You wanna see hair fly! And yes, I'm Christian...... Just trying to "perfect" myself one moment at a time but in my case it may take a bit longer. :-)

Here's the 2 shelves hubs put up for me. High, but I can reach them.

These 4 shelves are awaiting my decision on where/how to place them. This is the craft side.

This closet would scare ya to death if you could see inside, chickees! I'll need to clean it out at some point soon but for right now what ya can't see doesn't hurt ya! Yeah yeah, I know but I simply can't think about it until hubs gets more boxes outta the trunk of my car to put this "stuff" into and then he has time to haul it to the garage attic. This second part may take until the second coming. And then maybe not even then if hubs has his way or in other words (his) "why bother then?" *Sigh*............

You can still see I have 2 folding tables to use or not use but they're just a mite too long to put next to the sewing table to the right just under that window.
My current "dilemma" is how I should arrange those shelves. Anyone got any suggestions? You see what I've got, just give me some suggestions on how to place the 5 of them on the wall. I'm brain dead at this point!

I'm one of those people that has to have everything in "order" for me to create, paint or sew. This has not been the case with this house for a couple of months now and it won't be until the rest of this house is painted pink inside. The painter comes in a couple of days to do the living room, kitchen and dining area. I can hardly contain myself. ;-) I'll need to spend the evening prior to getting the decor off the walls and moving everything towards the center of the room. Maybe after that I can do some things that have been in my head for a very long time. It's time! *Sigh*..........

Paintin' It PinkkkKKKK!

Yep, chicks, here we go again!! I know this is getting boring to y'all, but trust me on this, it ain't borin' 'round here!! Just another blip in the saga of getting this house up to snuff on MY terms. I've told you that Love Bunny has told me whatever makes me happy I can do. Now, I realize that leaves a lot of latitude with attitude, but he's been married to me for so long that nothing surprises him any more. So although this is a 3 year old house with a paint job only that old, color affects me greatly and I'm doing it over in pink walls. Ooooh, it's a pale pink but PINK nonetheless. Isn't it wonderful to have someone love you so much that he'll let you paint it pink when he's a retired U.S. Marine?!?! Squeeeeeeeeeallll.......Yep, he's a man's man for sure. So I'm on intimate terms with my painter now. DO NOT become suspicious; he's younger than my granddaughter but if ya have to start a rumor, please make it a good one. I'll live it down and it just might spice up my dull, boring little life here in Idaho. I'll NOT put up with those skimpy little wimpy rumors either. I want it a full-blown R-U-M-O-R worthy of Harlequin romance novels!!!! Uuuhhh huhhhh!!!

We started with moving the furniture away from the walls the night before he was to come paint. We took down everything but the nails and picture hangers. Told him to paint them or around them; I wasn't taking them down again. ;-)

Everything from the kitchen went in the family room along with some things from the living room.

I left us 2 places to eat at the table. You think this means he needs to take me out to dinner for a few nights???? Hmmmmm?!?!

I have a path to my chair and left hubs just enough room to sit on the sofa.

I have since moved the laptop into the front of my club chair in the family room and put it on a little slanting tv tray I got for this very purpose but hadn't used it as such yet. Really nice sitting here in my comfy chair and taking it easier than sitting on a dining chair when using my laptop. I should have new desktop by end of week. I'm soooooo excited! Squeeeeeeeal.........

This china cabinet was flush against the family room wall but I'm thinking of angling it when this project is done. All the china is out on a folding table set up in the family room. Hubs refused to take down the vertical blinds covered with sheer fabric. Too much trouble so we just wrapped them in a drop cloth and hope they're fine.

All the stuff sitting around on counter tops and plant shelves is in the cabinets. I open them s-l-o-w-l-y because they are jammed.

Small appliances went into the pantry.

Plant shelves are soooo empty at the moment, but it'll be so nice when it's pink.

Sigh........ I do think hubs will "bring dinner home" tonight! ;-)

WHAT A MESS!!!!!!!

To be continued.................
