I've Also Been Doing This...

It isn't as if I had nothing to do; I do. It's simply that I've wanted one of these banners for a couple of years and just got around to doing one. I also wanted it in the theme of my house so I had to make it as I couldn't find any as froufrou as I wanted. This was very, very simple to do. It is just time consuming to make.

First you have to make a triangle the size you want for a pattern and then cut out each piece after you've selected the fabric from your stash—and we all know I have a stash. Then you sew them together. I decided I wanted the triangles to be pinked so I had to do that. Then I finally sewed them onto a length of double blanket binding. This was after a trip to Joanns to buy the binding. Then roses were added between each flag.

This is the back as I was coming out our patio door.

I used 9 flags varying them from roses to plainer fabrics like stripes and polka dots simply because I love the stripes and polka dots also.

Close-ups of front.

Here I used a piece of a vintage Wilendur tablecloth as the center flag.

The fabrics included Laura Ashley, Robyn Pandolph, Lakehouse. House Inc., Yuwa and Mary Rose. All are gorgeous fabrics and favorites of mine.

You can do this. Just get started with the fabrics of your choice. This one is going in the living room.

Porches #3

Ooooohmygosh, how cute is this in white and blue with pink impatiens hanging from the porch.

Stark coastline again with the sun casting a perfect glow on the home and porch. It almost looks like it could fall into the ocean. I adore that huge wraparound porch.

Could be somewhere on the east coast. Lovely white porch swing to view the sail boats and swimmers.

This is a huge porch with a cathedral ceiling with a fantastic view of the ocean and neighboring yards.

I've never been to the Adirondacks but I imagine it would look something like this. A cottage with lots of scrolly fretwork and a very inviting entrance.

This one looks more like a log home or lodge on a lake in the woods somewhere.

I Love Ruffles

I'm participating in Cielo's Ruffle Love in Show Off Your Cottage Monday so visit with all the participants.
*

I decided I wanted some ruffles on something. Can you guess what it is? First, I ripped 4" strips from 3 yards of fabric. That gave me a lot to gather with the ruffler. I ended up with over 16 yards of ruffles.

Just before ruffling.

After ruffling. LOTS of ruffles.

I have more than enough for this project and several yards left for crafting or other projects.

Just pinned on here to start sewing. Surely you've guessed by now.

If you guessed they were for the new curtains I made, you're correct. I love the white polka dots on white; plus the ruffle truly does add to the overall effect of the curtains.

Now if I can just wait for the new white slipcover!

Pink Saturday 8/14/2010

Welcome to Pink Saturday once again. Please visit all the participants at Beverly's How Sweet The Sound by clicking on the pink logo below:

With the request from Beverly to visit with new bloggers I've never visited with before, this past week I visited with Donna at Conghaile Cottage, Rebecca @ Shabby Pink World, Terry at My Antique Attic and Laura at Laura's Rose Garden. Go visit with them. I think you'll like their blogs.

Just browse what I've been doing lately. Making roses to sell.

My box of Sculpey and Fimo.

Aren't these cute?

Now, I'm making a flag banner and cut out an extra part from a vintage Wilendur tablecloth. So the first one who says they want it, gets it. Free. Just post here and the very first one who says they want it, gets it. My email comes in by day and time (as everyone's does) so the earlier the better. You can make a banner for your own home with this starter piece. ;-)

FrouFrou Friday #2 8/13/2010

Welcome to our 2nd Froufrou Friday! When I started this meme, and because I love froufrou more than just about anything, I wanted it easy for everyone—especially ME, an old lady! So it may be the norm for me to just post one photo. I said the NORM, but I may at times post more.

Also in the start-up of it I said I most likely would NOT do Mr. Linky or inlinkz (btw, I prefer inlinkz the best). I've changed my mind for many reasons. Mainly, I'm finding it's going to be easier for me. ;-)

I also gave no restrictions about what you could post. It's your blog so you can have one picture or ten. I want it to be easy for you also. Post what you want and what you think others might like to see. If, however, there is anything inappropriate (and you know what I mean), I'll delete the link.

Okay, that being said, it you want to join in, please put the logo over on the right side bar ------------> (what could be easier since I've done all the hard work and given you the HTML to post?!) on your blog so others can find us and join. As I said, I LOOOOOOVE seeing froufrou! Others can give me a vision or an idea of what I want to do in my home.

This wreath I made for my front door. It sits behind our glass storm/security door so it doesn't get dirty.
