FrouFrou Friday #2 8/13/2010

Welcome to our 2nd Froufrou Friday! When I started this meme, and because I love froufrou more than just about anything, I wanted it easy for everyone—especially ME, an old lady! So it may be the norm for me to just post one photo. I said the NORM, but I may at times post more.

Also in the start-up of it I said I most likely would NOT do Mr. Linky or inlinkz (btw, I prefer inlinkz the best). I've changed my mind for many reasons. Mainly, I'm finding it's going to be easier for me. ;-)

I also gave no restrictions about what you could post. It's your blog so you can have one picture or ten. I want it to be easy for you also. Post what you want and what you think others might like to see. If, however, there is anything inappropriate (and you know what I mean), I'll delete the link.

Okay, that being said, it you want to join in, please put the logo over on the right side bar ------------> (what could be easier since I've done all the hard work and given you the HTML to post?!) on your blog so others can find us and join. As I said, I LOOOOOOVE seeing froufrou! Others can give me a vision or an idea of what I want to do in my home.

This wreath I made for my front door. It sits behind our glass storm/security door so it doesn't get dirty.

This Also Started With An Idea

This post started with this picture. How, you ask. These are my cabinets in my kitchen. I am not fond of the layout of the work area in it. You chicks know what I mean when I say the food prep area just isn't conducive to two people working: me and Love Bunny. Okay, got the picture? I need him out of my way when I'm cooking or preparing things but the cabinet on the right below are where our dishes and glasses are stored. I'm either in his way or he's in mine. So I thought another cabinet on the other side of the sink—below the right cabinet and to the right a bit would be just what we needed. I thought he was going to blow a gasket when I told him what I wanted.

I wanted a vintage cabinet to put there, something with glass at least. I wanted it white! He said, "It won't work. It'll look out of place." I, of course, said, "No, it won't." I have a vision!

Here is where I'd like to put it. On the right side of the sink. I'd have to take down the 2 shelves, but it's not like I haven't changed things around in this house for the past 5 years, ya know.

And besides, who knows but that at some future point I won't change out all the top cabinets? Around here anything is possible. I wouldn't change the bottom cabinets because that's a lot more work than I'd like to do. Besides—again—I like the look of different cabinets. These are ash cabinets and with white on top I think it'd be quite nice actually.

So this brings me to this post and the photo below. I love the look of this cabinet below: white with chippy looking doors. Beautiful! When I saw this cabinet I knew I was on the right track and didn't doubt myself. Actually, I didn't doubt from the beginning but this arms me with ammunition when the subject is brought up. ;-)

And as I was looking at the photos I realized a lot of you bloggers might like seeing some of these simply for the eye candy they provide. Imagine setting a table like this. Ooooh, how lovely that is.

This woman did her weekend/vacation home in red, white and blue and she did it magnificently. Just a few pictures for you.

Would you just look at those gorgeous sofas?

This is a man's room. See, I told you men like romantic bedrooms.

This garden is stunning. Just a few photos of it also. Would you look at those gates? WOW!

And the greens in this living room are beautiful.

Same garden, different spot. I'd like to achieve the look she has in the arbor with roses or even grapevines.

Her garden cost more than my whole house many times over.

The garden cabana. Drool...

Different house, but just look at the moldings on the wall. That cost more than my whole kitchen...MANY times over.

Just for some more froufrou, chicks.

Gorgeous colors.

What I wouldn't give for something like this in my back yard isn't even worth mentioning. Squeeeeeeeal.

Just thought these were gorgeous fabrics.

Now, we all know how I feel about orange (my least favorite color), but this chair is something I could live with in my home—if I could afford it. I think it's beautiful.

From my dream of a cabinet to this. I do get sidetracked sometimes. *Sigh*...

Come and Gone!

I suppose you know what I've been doing for the past couple of days since the kids and grandkids left.

Right!

Clothes were soaked for stains.

Table leaves were taken out and stored back up in the garage attic.

Sheets and towels had to be washed as they used every single towel they could find. Luckily I had some stashed away they couldn't find. Hah, fooled them...

Things left behind. Pair of undies for grandson-in-law, mashed potatoes granddaughter wanted desperately to take home and forgot in the fridge—she loooooves my mashed potatoes—and this shirt for Lè Bèbè, plus a pile of clothes I got here and gave to my new great granddaughter but they forgot! I'll be taking them over in september I suppose.

More towels and rugs to be washed.

Pillows put away in the attic for next time and sleeping bags folded.

Futon put away. Spilled soda wiped up from the carpet that I just had cleaned the week before they came............and..........put carpet protection spray on. Squeeeeeeeal, am I glad I asked for that extra service. Whew!!!

Two air beds deflated and packed away.

Dirty tablecloths thrown on floor for washing.

Ribbon and Paper Roses for Pink Saturday 8/7/2010

Happy pink saturday, chicks. Again, please go see Beverly at How Sweet The Sound for all the participants. My kids, grandkids and great granddaughter were here this past week and I didn't have time to find new bloggers but I'll try and catch up next week. It's been a zoo here with 11 people in this house.

Recently Kristina had a blog post about giveaways she was sponsoring and I participated, giving away 6 paper roses with rose fragrance. Olivia (one of my favorite names!) won and this is her prize. I hope she loves them in her home, which is very pretty from all the photos I've seen. I started with these.

And ended up with these! I like them in that bowl so much I'm going to make a dozen or so to put in it and maybe put on the coffee table. I don't know where I'll put them! This house has so many roses in it already...Sigh...

Congratulations, Olivia. Enjoy!

And in the middle of July there was a "Show Us Your Rosettes Party" that I also participated in. I've been doing ribbon flowers for many years and didn't show all of them because I couldn't FIND all of them and some have been given away, but here are a few more. The red one and the lavender one next to it are my 2 most favorite flowers.

Random Thoughts:

The man who does not read good books has no advantage over those who can't read them. I read a lot and I mean a LOT.

Hollywood types think pot is a health food. I think it's something to put green beans in to cook. I'll bet ya I'm healthier...and saner!

I also know that ghosts can't hurt you unless you give them the power to harm you, unless you feed their substance with your fear. It's the class theory well known to spirit channelers and ghostbusters all over the world. I think I read that in a comic book.
*

Time saved does not seem to mean additional leisure or greater opportunity for meditation and reflection. Instead, with each new wave of technology, the pace of life increases; there is more to do, more choices to make, more things to experience, and people eagerly seize upon these experiences and fill the house that had only moments ago become empty. Each year life seems to be flitting past with far greater speed than the year before.

I'm a good guy; I keep you in toilet paper. Hubby said this to me recently. Hmmmmmm.......

Middle age does not automatically confer dignity. Personal experience with several middle age people I know. Sigh...

Love Bunny and I went to a wonderful restaurant several years ago—you know the type, no prices on the menu. Well, as he looked at it he asked, "Is that real food or just interior decoration on a plate?"

FrouFrou Friday #1

Welcome to Froufrou Friday, where each Friday you can display some of your froufrou things. You can display one photo or 10 photos on your blog. I make no restrictions on that. It's your blog. All you have to do is post the logo on the right side bar here to your blog and post something froufrou on that day. Interested? Get in touch with me.

I've decided that from here on out I'm going to use Mr Linky for Froufrou Friday. It's going to make it easier for me AND you. So just watch for it next friday and link up, chicks.
*

The participants this week are:
Jil at Say it with roses.
Jillian at Bella Rosa Antiques
Pat at The Urban Chic
Susan at Ashtree Cottage
Olivia at Olivia's Romantic Home
Michelle at The Shabby Studio

I'm only displaying one thing today. This is a metal hanging file holder. Nothing has to be ugly in your home, even file folders of metal OR paper. Trust me, mine are very froufrou in different flowers or in just plain pink.
