French Bread and "I Wants"

First of all, let me say that about 2 hours after I finally composed that post/rant yesterday and stressed out majorly, I looked under my "Options", which is that little thing up in the right hand corner that looks like a wheel and the drop down menu had an option for "Old Blogger Interface." I just about cried, let me tell ya. I was so happy. I hope it stays because I love it. Even that post yesterday looks differently from all the other posts, mostly because of color that is available on one and not the other. A better selection is on the old blogger interface. What can I say other than I was stressed out big time! And now I can add embarrassed to my rant. Sigh...

And I'm also having a giveaway on the 29th so if you're interested, you'll need to be a follower to win. I just think it's fair to give my followers first shot at something. And trust me, you do NOT want to miss what I giveaway if you're a froufrou, shabby chic, romantic kind of chick.

I want a new whatever (insert choice here).
I want new furniture/whatever for some of the rooms in my house.
I want a designer patio.
I want a Lexus/Cadillac/SUV/Maserati (insert your favorite one here).
I want MY way.
I want my kids to be popular/good (insert choice here).
I want my kid to be a championship "whatever".
I want a prestigious house.
I want to win the lottery so I have everything I want.
I want a gourmet kitchen.
I want a cottage up in the mountains or seashore.
I want a bigger, newer computer.
I want designer dresses and suits.
I want to be thin and sexy.
I want to be rich.
I want to go to France or England or Italy.
I want a pair of Christian Louboutins or Manolo Blahniks.
I want a huge diamond ring or necklace laced with diamonds.
I want a bigger truck.
I want a boat or yacht.
I want a maid.
I want a fancy chandelier.
I want to go on a cruise.
I want a new sofa.
I want new dining room furniture.
I want to be popular and have people love me.

Two kids were talking and the first one asked the second one if he could have anything in the world what would it be. The second kid said a peanut butter sandwich. The first kid said, "What?! A peanut butter sandwich? I'd like a planet and my own rocket ship to go there and conquer other planets." His list went on with several other things wishing he could have. Then the second kid said while holding out his hand, "Yeah, but I have my peanut butter sandwich."

Do you recognize any of the above? I certainly do with 2 or 3 of them, but I'm here to tell you none of this stuff will make you happy. NONE of it!

This is going to sound trite, but there are millions and millions in this world that don't have a toilet, a refrigerator, a dishwasher, a stove, electricity, cars, a mommy or a daddy, toilet, homes (and that's not just the homeless in our country), heat, air-conditioning, washing machine, much less a dryer and sometimes not even a clothesline but hang laundry on walls or laid on stones. Books? Some people have never even heard of them.

Be happy with what you've got and be happy you've got it! I've found that that is the true measure of being happy.

One of my passions or weaknesses is french bread. I love it slathered in butter and warmed just a tad. Actually, I could eat a whole loaf by myself. It's one of nature's perfect foods...after donuts of course. ;-) My opinion, so don't argue with me about it.

This bath is lovely but I've tried growing vines in my house and it just doesn't work for me.

Love, love, love these chairs. UPDATE!!! I just found them online in RED! Beautiful!

Where do people find such cute things as an antique wash pan with flowers in it? I think it must be a decal.

These little boards are becoming quite popular. I have at least 5 of them in my home.

Beautiful vintage tiles in a bathroom. Looks to be in Europe.

Another great idea for a patio. I think I could do this on my front porch though. I just may ask Love Bunny to do it this spring. We already have the elements to do this so no need to buy anything new.

Beautiful old wallpaper.

Laundry day elegant style!

Nothing can compare with roses for a lovely table setting with gorgeous china.

This is another example of a gypsy caravan. The style is becoming very popular. It's a bit dark for my taste though.

Another bottle style you can decorate and not have to throw away. Start saving bottles and jars, chicks, and making them gorgeous to display around your home.

Just as I've done with this bottle when I finished using the perfume in it. I just didn't have the heart to part with its memories and throw such a beautiful bottle out, so I re-purposed it as a decorated bottle to display on a shelf in my living room.

I found this room interesting.

I'm thinking of doing new covers for my chairs in white canvas or duck. I want white this time instead of the prints I did 5 years ago. I think they'll look more elegant.

Would you just look at this pink thatched cottage?! I think it's adorable.

While the ivy draped all over the roof and sides is gorgeous, that roof will rot faster than a speeding bullet if left unchecked. It absolutely destroys roofs so don't do it! Unless of course you're filthy rich. Then be my guest and go right ahead. ;-)

In Ireland, some of the houses are absolutely built right up to the road. We stayed in a B&B where this was the case. Loved it though.

Ireland has the most gorgeous windows in the world along with lace on just about every one of them. They sparkled no matter if it was raining.

Would you look at that snazzy chandelier?!

I am an amateur photographer, very amateur but I never, ever thought I'd love it so much when I had an old Minolta film camera back in the 80s. I loathed taking photos then because my foot usually appeared in the photo...don't ask. ;-) Now, I absolutely love taking pictures with my Canon Rebel XS and editing them in my iPhoto. And if I could have gotten my Canon in pink or even this color, my heart would have leapt with joy. Sigh...

A castle may be a man's home but it's the queen that cleans it. I made this sign and put it on our garage/laundry room door. He didn't even notice it! Absolute truth!!

A "NOT Happy" Saturday

I awoke this morning to a new blogger interface. I was not happy. I started to do a new post and, lo and behold, it was an entirely new experience. I was not happy. I'm not fond of change, especially when forced upon me. I was not happy. This is in addition to what happened yesterday when hubs went over to the storage facility where we store the pop-up camper. I was not happy.

But first, the rest of the blogging story.

I panicked about the template. I was simply messing around with it as usual in a new interface and poof, it was gone. I practice what I preach and had a template saved. But when I entered it on this site  it came up as HTML when I clicked to preview this blog post. I freaked and hubs was completely understanding and sympathetic. I went online to blogger forums and asked for help. A kind woman, who was a top commentor on there, said she'd alert the "powers that be", or in this case, the techs, but they were probably on low or no staff for the weekend. I was not happy. I then had lunch—left over fettucine alfredo from Olive Garden last night—and thought about it. The template I used was dated 2007 and then it hit me that I save templates on a regular basis and I thought perhaps I had entered the wrong template. I did a quick search on this iMac and found one dated 2010, copied and pasted it into the "new interface" (uuuughhh!!) and voilá, there it was, just as it appears every day. I was beyond crying happy tears. I was beyond thrilled! I was happy at last.

See photos and story for trailer fiasco below:

This is a view of the inside. Hubs was trying to get it ready to go to a train convention over in Medford, Oregon. I wasn't going. Now it looks like the camper won't be going either. It's trashed. Somehow water got into it. The camper was covered in a tarp but we think perhaps the wind may have blown the tarp off at one point and the couple who manage the large storage facility may have gone out and put it back on for us. This was absolutely not their fault. If they had called us we would have checked for damage right away. They were kind enough to be concerned and we don't blame them one bit. The canvas was totaled. Hubs has taken it off and thrown it in the trash can. A soft wool topper called Cuddle Ewe was totaled also. The topper cannot be dry cleaned or washed and it's covered with mildew also. He was devastated as he now will have to stay in a motel and eat his meals out. This will take more money but he has saved so it won't be a hardship particularly. I told him for these trips for VFW or train shows/conventions he must save for them. I think it's a good idea to not be in debt. And he has been good about putting the money aside for these extra trips. I could go but that would put me in a motel with absolutely nothing to do and I'd be bored stiff. I hate traveling anymore. I think I may have harped on mentioned this a time or two before. ;-)

This is what the inside of my arm looked like after my experience in ER last Saturday when I went in for the 2nd time in 4 days passing a kidney stone or so I thought. This is just ONE of the areas they tried getting an IV in me. There are 3 others. This one is on the inside of my right arm and was successful. I was not happy.

Now, one of the reasons I'm not happy about the new interface is that I'll have to do a complete new tutorial on it for everyone that isn't computer savvy and is not happy with the new interface. Yes, it's a bit glitchy but I can make it work for me. The key word here is work. I hate work! I see a lot of blogs using the new editor and a lot of them are terrible, the blog posts I mean. It's not the blogger's fault though. Well, it is in that they haven't acquainted themselves with it as well as they could have. But I want my blog to work well and look good. But today since I'm doing it in the new blogger interface, I'm getting some good practice. I would also love to be able to upload more than one photo at a time. That would be an essential time saver for me. A year or so ago when I asked blogger to let the old editor stay they did and I was thrilled. I guess they knew at that time they'd be working on this new interface and the old one would eventually go away. It would have been nice for them to let us know though. After all, isn't it about pleasing the customer? I'll get used to it and stop crying now. I'll let you look at some eye candy while I go and lick my wounds and play around with the new interface to see what the heck I'm doing.

As you can see here in this screenshot what I mean about the new interface. It looks as if there is no space between the three photos just above this screenshot, but in actuality there is a lot of space between them when the Preview or Publish button is clicked and the blog appears. I am also paranoid about hitting the Publish button sooner than I want as it is so close to the Preview button now. It wasn't in the OLD INTERFACE (CAN YOU HEAR ME, BLOGGER TECHS?!!!).

So I'm through for this day playing around trying to get the photos to work properly. I'm going to work with it and see how I can make it do what I want it to do and I have an idea. I'll just have to see if it works. Until then, happy blogging.

Cottages and Eye Candy for Pink Saturday 4/21/2012

Welcome to Beverly's Pink Saturday. Visit her and the other participants to view all the pink.

Remember a couple of weeks ago when I found a website that times blogs on how much time it takes for each blog or website to come up? If you haven't read that blog, go do so now. It was quite interesting.

However, I came across the mother of slow websites lately. It doesn't appear to be much of a blog as a site for advertisements. It's colorful, but I counted 31 ads on there. Anyway, the stopwatch timed this one at 7 min. and 58 seconds. Almost 8 minutes to have everything appear on the site. I thought that was rather a lot of time. No, I'm not giving out the name. I'm not in this to embarrass people, just fun to know.

In Great Britain they call these dwellings cottages. It might seem odd to us here in the U.S. where we call them apartments, being that there are several dwellings in one building; however, I think cottages are definitely appropriate for homes that look like this. They are adorable.

Yes, a pink hideaway in the woods.

Simply gorgeous roses plate which I so enjoy looking at.

This is a cottage for rent in Turkey.

Sweet way to store things.

This is so cute I can't imagine anyone not wanting to live here.

Darling tag

And yes, this is a rental cottage in Europe.

See what you can do with just old jelly or mayonnaise jars. I have many of these around my kitchen to hold screws, nails and hardware I might need.

I like this room but it was the curtains that caught my attention.

Snow White and her seven dwarfs perhaps?

Yummy vignette in a feminine room.

Glorious white scrolled mirrors.

Oh, yes, English cottage for sure. Looks like it's close in the city.

You deserve a crown when you're a queen. I have mine! Truly, I do have a crown. ;-)

Now, go and follow your heart or your dreams.
