A good day for puttering around this household is never wasted.

Hubs and I have believed for several years now in getting our food storage for the hard times ahead. I found this seed company that has non-hybrid "survival seeds." We're getting some to have in case seeds become non-available. If you are interested I suggest you go now because they are having a sale of 30% off a starter pack. They are called "LDS Food Storage Seeds."

Recently hubs and I went to the LDS Cannery and bought 50# of hot cocoa mix. It was a fantastic deal, but we still have to pack it into 5 gallon bucket containers for food storage. Last year we went through 25# in about a year and a half so this should last through this winter and into the next. And I've tripped over it about 5 times so far. *Sigh*...

I finally got a new Magic Mouse from Apple. It's wireless and no buttons on it at all, just a sweep of a finger or 2 fingers and it scrolls up, down and sideways. Just an amazing little mouse. It takes a bit of getting used to because it's so much flatter than the old wired one. Hubs will get it; he always gets my hand-me-downs. ;-) I'm a first born child, ya know, and never had hand-me-downs. ;-)



I then thought I'd get started on my Christmas birdhouse for a friend. She doesn't read blogs so she won't be seeing this, but I got it out today for a coat of pink paint. You'll see the finished product soon.

I then froufrou-ed up the ornaments for the pink Christmas tree cutting little circles with pinking shears and gluing little ribbon roses to the inexpensive glittered ornies. This is how they turned out. Cute, huh?

A gift from a friend. It will probably go on my mantel or at least a place of honor from this very special friend.
Yawn, I'm all puttered out now.

Primp Your Cans

My blogging friends, you really don't want to miss the posts this week. I'm going to definitely show the Pink, White and Roses Christmas Tree. Squeeeeeeal. I promise you glitz, bling, pizzazz and all that stuff. You know what I mean. It really did turn out darling.

Have I got your attention yet? I don't mean to sound crude, but I do mean primp your cans. I had this one left over after we finished the cocoa mix inside, so I couldn't throw away a perfectly good tin can, could I? Nuuuuuu, so after spray painting it white, I primped it up with some decals, rick rack, ribbon roses and ribbon. You can do this also. I've just described the drill to you so go get busy and then put your kitchen utensils in it as I'm going to do with this one. Or your brushes. ;-)

We don't decorate for the holidays simply because I'm too lazy. ;-) Actually, we have so little room in this house that I have to take advantage of every single space and still need "mental counseling" to get over my addiction to "things"! Putting up the tree in front of the living room window involves moving the furniture and y'all know how lazy I am, right? Since it's just me and Love Bunny, there isn't much reason as far as I'm concerned. LB would decorate, but it would probably be with model trains and that ain't happening in this house, so we simply forgo it altogether. I certainly have favorite things around my house and this is one of them. The cake toppers on both my wedding cakes at our 2 different receptions and my original bouquet with some pink paper roses wired to it. The photo is of us on one of our trips to Mexico.

I have friends who like the romantic shabby look but they have leather or rather manly furniture and say they couldn't do it with their furniture. I say "Posh and Bolderdash" to that! Look how lovely this very manly leather or suede sofa with kilim type cushions looks with the white frilly pillows looks. Squeeeeeeal. I just love this and am going to show it to some friends who doubt me.

Working on the Tree Ornaments

Friday night is Date Night around this household. I get to not cook and be treated to a meal in a restaurant. We do this on mondays also, but it is usually a salad at Wendy's. But, anyway, friday night is mine to spend wherever I want, even if it is Joanns Fabrics. Squeeeeeeal. We also hit the Dollar Store for a plethora of items.

I couldn't find any pink roses this time of year unless I wanted to pay dear for them and I'm not too keen on that. I want a deal—a bargain. So I purchased some white poinsettia bushes and inked them with my new ink pad. Worked great. Quick and easy. My kind of work, chicks!

I also got a pretty good deal on ribbon at about 20 yards for $1.00, if you can imagine that. Little white snowflakes for 6 for a dollar also.

A little tree that when turned upside down becomes a tussie mussie or cone for some goodies. I got 2 of these because I already have some I have to paint to use but I liked these sparkly ones. Notice on the left the little ornaments I painted pink with roses. Love Bunny drilled the holes for me and I've added pink ribbon as the hanger.

Keep in mind also I was trying to get good photos in horrid light tonight. I'd switch from one setting to the other but they are not very good photos and with all the reflection from the glitter and tinsel it's difficult to photograph. Grrrrr.....

Silver snowflakes to add to the tree and some little birds that were 3 for a dollar. I pinked up their tail feathers. ;-)

Some pretty green, glittery greenery to add to the tree in small touches. More glittery birds!

The Story Behind the Photos

You may have read a post a couple of months ago (and I won't bore you with the link since it's probably boring anyway!) about how I take many photos for just a few pictures to post. Yes, it's true...with this photo shoot being the exception. I'm showing you ALL of them and the story behind it.

At this particular moment it is 27° here in the southwest desert of Idaho. Now, I'm a hot chick...literally a hot chick. I keep my house at 67—68° summer and winter. Sometimes 66°. I have been "warm" since menopause and it hasn't changed. Never had a hot flash. Never taken hormone replacement therapy. Just warm all the time. I do get cold but it feels good. Twenty-seven degrees was even a tad cold for me. But anyway, I finished 6 cones for the pink tree and wanted to get a photo of them as quickly as I could before the light was entirely gone, asking Love Bunny (who MAY be referred to as Scrooge Bunny from here on out!) to be my model and hold them. Notice I've cropped Scrooge out of the photo. ;-)

So we stepped out the back patio door and I told him to just hold them. The first photo is actually the first photo. I wanted a different angle to catch the last rays of light so the second photo is that one. Being the perfectionist I am and never ever taking just one photo of anything, I asked Mr. Scrooge to turn around so I could get another shot closer up. Then it went down hill from there. He got loud and started saying it's snowing, which it was, but it was just starting so very light, for Pete's sake. DUH. He could have stood there and we could have finished much faster if he'd just have kept his mouth shut, ya know. He knows I take a lot of photos and well, you get the picture.

Painted the cones pink, hot glued some flowers and roses on the front of all 6 and added chicks to 5 of them and and a posy to the 6th one.

This one is Mr. Scrooge cropped out because he was "bah, humbugging" me! That'll teach him!
