Pink Saturday 9/5/2009

Yep, it's another pink saturday! If you wish to view all the participants go to Beverly's blog and go around blogland to visit each one. I think you'll get a treat visiting with them.

Some close ups of my message boards that I call "memory" boards because it's one of my favorite places to hang the things sent to me by friends or members of my ebay group. The rose with the hanging beads are from Bertie of AuntMaysCottage. You don't want to miss this woman's sales on her website. She makes the most exquisite things with vintage wedding gowns.

The little hand painted ornament was painted by Lorena of RoseChicFriends. I have several of her hand painted items as well as a canvas she painted. Just beautiful! Give her a visit.

Just little tags and cards sent to me when I order something over the internet. They do bring me joy and I'm always surprised at the loveliness and generosity of these women.

This is another creation of Bertie's. She spoils me! But the little valentine heart creation is Rhea's of sweetnshabbyroses. She's been very ill for a couple of years now and isn't creating much these days much to the chagrin of those who have purchased her creations. But I do talk to her from time to time on the phone.

More cards and one little one that looks like an evening gown. Isn't that sweet?! I just loved it and knew immediately where it would go.

More cards and tags. I have the privilege of knowing some of the most talented women on the internet. The little red heart is by Lorena also. The pink string hearts are by Shirl of Shirlsrosecottage. She does the most exquisite silk ribbon embroidery.

Lorena also does clay roses that she makes into little pins as evidenced by the little pin in the bottom center left of this photo.

I thought I'd show you my favorite shirt. Orange is my least favorite color but when it was combined with red, pink and fuchsia in this shirt I couldn't resist. You can't see the front but I "embellished" it with pink pockets and ribbon strings. I need pockets in everything I wear, chicks!

Roses hanging over my bed attached to the canopy of netting.

I'm sure you've seen these paper pompoms before but it's pink saturday and I'm showing them again. They hang in 2 corners of my bedroom.

Lunch with the Chicks at Cafe de Coco #2

First one thing: I accidentally deleted some things on this blog a few days ago and haven't had time to put them back on. My blog roll was one of them. I have 160+ to add back on but that's going to have to wait until I get back from our camping trip starting today. I was using a different browser, which is just a tad different from the one I usually use, and tried to see what a new template would look like. I was in shock when instead of "previewing" it, it actually changed it. When I put the regular template THAT I SAVED(!) back on several things were "wrong" and several things had been deleted. So that's just one of my minor dilemmas at the moment. I have them all on my Google Reader (thank goodness!). I'll add them back later as I said. Also if you'd like me to add yours, just let me know by leaving a message on this post. But read the sidebar on the right about me adding blogs, which USED to be on the left. *Sigh*......................

More photos of Cafe de Coco. Isn't this cute? Prices were a bit more than I was willing to spend that day but they had some things I would really have loved to buy.

That little dress form was one of the things I would have loved. And the shelf actually.

And this bureau.

And this! I don't think it was for sale though, just a display piece.

Dried flowers strewn around the tops of one brightly colored wall.

Another display piece that would have fit on my front porch actually!

Lots of little froufrou things for the shabby home.

This is just as you come in the entry door to the cafe.

The whole vignette is simply to-die-for! Just adorable. Very Parisienne. That little chair and dresser are absolutely adorable.

And how about this darling chandelier?! Well, it isn't actually a chandelier but it hangs so prettily with glass ornaments.

Random Thought:

Men and women definitely do not speak the same language. Think about that and I may have more on it at a later post.

White Linens #1

I have always loved whites or an off-white of pale pink. I don't like my whites to be beige-y but an off color if they are off white at all would be the color of milk. I think the beige looks muddy or dirty but I am aware that a lot of people love that color. For the most part, I don't, but there are exceptions to everything. Right?

These are beautiful and one pillow is sort of an ecru color.

What can I say about lace that hasn't already been said millions of times? I love lace. It softens just about anything it touches. Even snippets of lace are attractive when bunched together in a bowl or on a shelf or mantle.

Years ago, as we were planning to move from California to Idaho, I shopped for an entire year buying up things I doubted I would find in Idaho. Tablecloths and napkins were some of the things I bought en masse. They were all white and huge since we have a huge dining table when the leaves are in it, but they all had at least 12 napkins with them. Macy's was my store of choice then and still is today. It's the most wonderful department store I've ever found.

In our first house in Idaho it had mahogany drawers in our dining room built-in buffet. They looked very similar to this. I lined them with pretty white paper and delicately put in the tablecloths. I have seen other women hang them on clothes hangers and thought that was a wonderful idea also if you don't have enough drawers. My tablecloths will go to my granddaughter someday. She'll appreciate their beauty also.

I also just hang them or drape them around the house on shelves, the mantle or table tops.

The embroidery on these is exquisite.

I recently told Love Bunny that when we go camping we WILL take a white cloth tablecloth to dine on in the camper. He hesitated at first but he got the clue: I'm not negotiable on this! Lace adds a certain ambiance when he decided he HAS to drag me to the wilds of Idaho. Sigh........

And who in the world can pass up a white basket weave dish to showcase their antique tableware? Not this chick.

Dress up that table out in the woods or in your back yard or on the front porch even. Give it some pizzazz and you'll feel like a queen.

Lunch with the Chicks at Cafe de Coco

Several weeks ago a group of us chicks went out for a lunch. We never know how many of us will be attending; it's just who shows up, shows up and we have a splendid time. It started with the older gals but we expanded it to include anyone who wants to come. We go to several restaurants in the area choosing a different one each time while trying to find new and interesting places. Enter: Cafe de Coco.

It's a very small restaurant in the downtown part of our city but not just a restaurant. They have a "boutique" of some unique items and antiques they sell. It's really quite cute inside and they have divine sandwiches and salads and DESSERTS! I abstained of course.......

Lots of goodies and pretties for sale in here.

Five different little dining areas.

The girls that participated that day. Lorene in front with long dark hair. Joann with her back to the camera. Darlene on the left with back to the wall. Stacey looking down - probably at HER camera. She's a budding photographer!

Darling little aprons! And we all know how I feel about aprons. Squeeeeeeeeal....

I would love to have that candelabra on the top of that cabinet but couldn't see the price, which makes Love Bunny verrrrry happy.

Lovely cosmetics, creams, soaps and lotions.

Little totes for sale in exotic prints.

Sweet lamp and lampshade by our table. Most of the lighting was lamps by or near the table but there was a skylight in the entry/shop area. This is a small restaurant and shop.
More coming up in a few days.

Technical Difficulties Abounding Here!!

I'm sorry I haven't been able to get around to Pink Saturday participants or even the Rooster Party! I'm experiencing major technical difficulties since I loaded a new OS onto my desktop. This is what my browser looks like. But I'm not going to bore you with the MAJOR details of what's been happening, but being computer savvy I guess I had to eat a bit of humble pie to experience what some of you chicks have experienced. This, however, was my own stupid(!) fault. Back as soon as possible. Good thing I've prescheduled some posts for the next month or so. Sigh.......
