Where I've Created....... a Mess!!

I spent all last week moving furniture, wall "fluff" and clothing out of rooms that were to be painted. Each morning we'd haul stuff out that we didn't get the night before AFTER we hauled stuff back in. Now I'm sure you understood that! Even I don't get it but just let me say that we were "hauling"!! Room to room. Everything came off walls into other rooms till that room was painted and each night we'd haul it back in and start on the next room. It went on for 5 nights. Craig, the painter, would paint the master walk-in closet we emptied in the morning on to the bed and we'd put it back in that evening before we could even FIND the bed. I didn't get photos of it but you get the picture. I still have stuff in the family room to put back or not put back. I have this sinking feeling I'm going to get rid of a lot more stuff that was on the walls. I love the pink so much that I don't think I'll put everything back on the walls. (Let me say here that this is a tremendous relief to Love Bunny.)

We had a bit of "touchy moments" that almost ended up on Judge Judy's Divorce Court (since we don't watch tv I'm just imaging what it is like). Hubs didn't want me to touch his office. Now, I have this vision (because I already have the fabrics) of black and white toile and checks in his room with red accents so the pink walls would have looked good. Nuuuuuuuu, he had other ideas. I'm the "decorator" here but he said I only gave him 2 choices: pink or white. Sooooooo, rather than make my children orphans, I hauled his sweet backside to Home Depot and said, "Here are several thousand colors; pick one." He gravitated to a pretty pale green called Topical Dream. Sort of minty green. Okay, that's doable, just have to change the accent colors is all. I might even try to find a toile and check to match the green color instead of using the black and white I already have. *Sigh*.............

You do get the picture here, right. This is the "before" while he's cleaning it up today. We don't work or shop on sundays but he wants to get this mess straightened up soon because I promised him one of those desk units if he let me paint the room something other than beige. I do not like beige and don't feel good around it. Beige does NOT bother him. He couldn't care any less so I finally talked him into another color if he chose it as described above. *Sigh*............. I do think it's the promise of a new desk with a wrap-around for the printer and files and such. Men can be so obstinate, but as my friend, Sherilynn, said to me recently, "You've always said your aim in life is to make him happy", I have to admit she's right. A man's home is his castle and he has no problem at all letting me paint it pink, just don't touch his private space! When I snapped this photo he laughingly asked me what I was doing - the before photo for the "before and after" photos. I just smiled...........*Wink*

Lace and Roses in the Bathroom for Pink Saturday

This guest bathroom needed something while waiting for the painter to give it its coat of pink paint. I saw this idea over on Myrna's blog the other day and thought I'd try it. Her bathroom is lovelier than mine but it looks a bit better until I can get around to fluffing it up a bit more. I simply took a long scarf, tied it in certain places with pink ribbon and foofed up the bundle of fabric and made a rosette out of each one. Then I put that vintage doily on it because I've been trying to figure out what in the world to do with it! After it's painted pink I'll add some paper roses and more snippets of lace to it I think.

Faux Plants

I don't know about you chicks and certainly don't speak for most people but I love faux plants. They don't die, rarely fade out now and are easy to maintain and provide an attractive punch to a front garage. Trust me, we've tried several little color spots in these pots but to no avail. They just sat there with dirt in them trying to look unashamed but hopeful. I felt pity for them and tried to find some 3-ball elegant topiaries, even tried to steal some from Stacy (friend), but that wouldn't work as I'm too honest, and trying to find them at a reasonable price was not working either. SHE got 4 of them at WM at a closeout price of $3.00 each!!! Am I frosted or what? So I had to spend $10.00 a piece on these three "hosta" type plants for the front of the garage. But they definitely do punch up the garage/front of my home.

Family Room Redo

It all started with these famous words: Honeeeeeeeeeeey, I have an idea. Get the picture here? As I've said before I have hated this color on my walls since we moved in. Hubs says then why did you select this color and I reply because I was in a hurry and clueless (this will calm them down, puff up their chests and get the testosterone flowing when you freely admit you are "clueless"!). So now we've been going through the process of re-painting the rooms inside the house pink. A soft pink but very definitely pink. It's Home Depot's Behr paint called Cupid's Arrow. And I feel like I like in a cake box with white frosting or even a confectionery store because of the pink walls and white woodwork. I love it.

But anyway, we have the family room, master bedroom, laundry, master bath, hubs' office (which is actually one of the 4 bedrooms) and our walk-in closet. I took off the die cut wallpaper border in the laundry the other day so the painter could paint. I have 2 more rolls to go back up when he finished in there. He got the family room done in one afternoon. It looks great and wonderful! Here is a picture of what it looked like in our living room and dining room with all the "stuff" from family room spread about the house.

Here are pictures of the room just before and after we pushed the furniture back against the walls. I think I'll take my time re-hanging the pictures and stuff for the walls though. I was in such a hurry when we moved in and the few times I've changed things due to the new faux mantel focal point that I wasn't really happy with it.

How many times have I told you chicks that I "shop" in my own house many times? Hmmmm??? I have so much stuff that I don't "see" it sometimes. Well, I "rediscovered" a little vase with tulips IN it and ON it so I thought it would look much better than the OXO utensil holder in a romantic shabby rose cottage so I transferred the taller things to it. It's a bit tall but I'll make do until I find just the perfect utensil holder vase somewhere. This will necessitate a shopping trip I'm sure. :-) So here is the before and after for now. Looks like I'm going to need 2 utensil holders I think.

A Rustic Star

The other day I found this rustic 30" star at the Craft Warehouse after trying to find one for several months. I've been wanting one to paint pink and put some roses on it. I would have liked to use a decal but I think it would fade in the light so I am going to handpaint some on this and hang it out front somewhere. This is how far I've gotten today though.

It's actually pink but the sun was so bright the photo didn't come out as I wanted it to.
