Will You Love Me When..........

First of all, a little eye candy for you. As most of you know I absolutely adore, love roses but if there is a little "chick" in the picture along with it, then it's even more special to me. So here is some ephemera for you. And please enlarge it for a bigger image.

I'm feeling soppy, syrupy and maudlin today so bare with me. I'm not even going to apologize for this because I just need to lay my heart and soul on the line today. You can indulge me or click off to another blog post; it really doesn't matter to me if you don't want to hear it again. I can definitely understand. I'm writing this on saturday night and scheduling it for monday just in case I decide I can't bear to see it in print.

I laid awake last night just thinking of my son and what he's still going through, but it wasn't just that.

Late at night when Morpheus won't visit, I'll lie awake silently and think my deepest, most intimate thoughts and let the tears flow onto the pillow and just hope my spouse doesn't awaken so I don't have to explain those deep intimate reveries and can just have the thoughts to myself privately and tiptoe through them quietly at my leisure when feelings are so tender. I think some people might understand this. But our son's condition started the whole thing.......plus the "journey" of the finding of the "perfect makeup."

He's still not doing well even with the sleeping pills. Plus there has been no change in his headaches—still horrendous pain, eyes, ears ringing and whoosing in his ears. I wish I could say it's improving but it isn't yet. I've wept more tears than I'd ever thought possible because when this happens to someone to whom you've given birth it hurts intolerably. I've been told these things take time but hubby and I are still going to do a fast for him tomorrow.
*

The other thing, which I'm guessing is common in marriages that have survived for many years, where lots of true love has endured and as we creep—because I shall always "creep" and not "leap"— into old age, are some thoughts that kept running through my consciousness last night. I believe that as we come to the twilight and midnight of our years on earth we all share similar feelings.

Will you still love me when my face wrinkles and crinkles around the eyes and mouth?

Will you still love me when I can barely get out of the chair or the car pretending like nothing hurts and fake it for the first few steps so people won't think I'm an old lady?

Will you still love me when everything that can sag does?

Will you still love me when I can't determine the true color of my skin because of all the age spots?

Will you still love me when my dentist owns most of my teeth?

Will you still love me when the optometrist can't determine how many pairs of glasses I'll need for my activities?

Will you still love me when I'm stooped over and need your strong arm to help me up?

Will you still love when when my hair looks frosted from so much gray in it?

Will you still love me when I don't have the energy to iron your pants and shirts because I can't stand that long?

Will you still love me when I'd rather eat out because it's so much easier for me than cooking even though you LOVE my cooking more than restaurants?

Will you still love me when my feet don't work as well as they used to and I hold your hand, not because that's how we've always done it, but because I can't make it without your beautiful hands helping me now?

Will you still love me when I have an extra 10 lbs. or then it creeps up each year to whatever it is and I hate to tell you the actual truth?!

Will you still love me when I'm not that young slender girl coming down the stairs in my white wedding gown that you've always told me is the image you'll always remember of me even after all these years of marriage?

Will you miss the times when we can finally share the intimate moments that were so tender when they actually happened that the memory had to dim a bit to be able to voice them to each other?

Will you still love me and remember the moments when you would hold me in your arms and tell me that "things will be alright" when we're going through a crisis and let me know how much you love me?

Will you still love me when I may not even remember who you are; although you constantly tell me you'll never forget me?

Will you still love me when I'm gone before you and awaiting your presence by my side and missing you so terribly?

I know I'll miss you with every beat of my heart because I can't even imagine not having you and your strong, loving arms around me.

Dear readers, you were warned. My heart is very tender lately.

Day at Macy's and Cute Shoes

Let's begin first with a couple of pink rooms I thought you'd enjoy seeing.

I LOVE this pink bathroom!

This room reminds me of something Sister Parrish would have designed. I loved her decorating.

Yep, as you can see by the police officer, this is a detention center for teenagers. Pink is a calming color for hyperactive children and I love this pink room, but I doubt its occupants would love being here.

Be still my heart! Isn't this bedroom darling?!?!?! I'd love it for myself, not just a little princess.

You would have to be "seriously into pink" to live here and not many men would, but I truly think it's gorgeous.

I went to Macy's in Boise the other day to get some makeup. Actually, I wanted some concealer for my eyes that are getting pretty dang old, chicks! Now, I've recently discovered Bobbi Brown makeup and let me tell you their brand is something else—as in fantastic! I've never had a makeup where they could match your skin shade so well. My foundation shade is cool sand 2.5, but the concealer (pale yellow/cool sand - a 2 part applicaton) and corrector (light bisque—a pink) are altogether different. The makeup artists there are truly well-versed in how to apply makeup. But I'm digressing from the experience.

I simply wanted for them to look at my chart, which is on file, and grab the correct color and pay for it and walk out. Nuuuuuuuu, couldn't be that simple.

The makeup girl was just starting on another woman as I walked up. I said I just wanted to purchase the concealer. It ended up being about 25 minute deal, taking her away from the other woman. I said when I walked up that I was in no hurry and could wait but she spent almost a half hour putting more stuff on me! I apologized to the lady, who was gracious, and tried to get out of there quickly but the makeup artist was having none of that! I was very embarrassed that she took me before that lady.

I ended up with her applying eyebrow color, cheek color, fixing my eyes herself, more foundation to cover what she was doing, mascara, lip color, lip GLOSS, eyeliner and eyeshadow—MOST of which I ever wear! Now, you KNOW I am very brave, or a shameless hussy, if I put a photo on here of what I looked like when she finished and I got home. Okay, it's a very upclose photo and I really don't look quite that red/bright naturally but the flash can only do so much that close up. Needless to say, I put on my sunglasses and went home to immediately wash my face. I'm just not used to a lot of makeup at all and certainly not the "extra" stuff she put on me. I use foundation, concealer, lipstick and mascara when I go out.

Here is all the Bobbi Brown makeup I have as of now. There moisturizer is wonderful also! The little pink container on the upper left is a "face illuminator" my granddaughter sent me yesterday from Seattle and is NOT Bobbi Brown but Wet n Wild MegaGlo. It's very nice also to give a shine to the eye area and conceal the dark areas of the eye. She tries to help me too. She is great at applying or helping me choose makeup. But then she's 40 years younger than me!

Let me just say here that this stuff ain't cheap but it is truly worth it. What you see here is about $240.00 worth of makeup. This includes the eye brush, foundation, moisturizer, concealer and corrector.......oh, and the powder puff. ;-) The Wet n Wild was a gift. Hah!

I found these at WM a couple of days ago and needed a pair of "house shoes" to tromp around in the house since podiatrist said I needed to wear shoes more. Yeah, I'm a barefoot kinda chick, but these old feet need more support so what are ya gonna do, huh??? But when I saw these for $9.00 I knew even Love Bunny would have thought that was a great deal.

And, yeah, that's me with these big feet resting on my desk and yeah, that's a bag of Lay's Maui Onion extra krispy potato chips on the desk. *Sigh*.............

Random Thought:

You younger women will identify with the first part of this but it takes us older women to truly understand.

When we're young women and mothers we are "careful" when we wear white pants, but did you know that us over 60 women have to be just as "careful" when WE wear white also? Hmmmm??? Same area, different location, chicks!!! *Sigh*................... Notice I'm wearing white today in these photos.

Seed Packet Roses Ephemera

I think these roses are among the most beautiful of all the vintage ephemera roses I have in my collections or have ever seen actually. They have been my favorite for many years. I'm sharing these with you because of their beauty. Click to enlarge and use as you would like. BUT if you do use them, be sure and let me know when you post what you've done with them. I want to see your creations, chicks.

Random Thought:

What is it with UPS packages? They are so dirty I think they must intentionally drag them through a dirt pile before delivery. I wonder if they've ever thought of "cleaning" up the insides once in a while. I do, however, love my UPS delivery persons!

Night Lights and Liver......Yuck

Update on son.

Keith is really struggling with forgiveness for these men along with the physical aspects. He has no idea when he might even be able to return to work as an RN. The ringing has continued so loudly he can barely hear anything else. The headache persists. The vision is still cloudy. The doctors have not been able to tell him if these issues will even ever clean up. That's the frustrating thing for him. He called the hospital to set up some kind of counseling and is going to call his bishop for spiritual counseling with him on forgiveness. I think his spirit is wounded even more than his physical body at the moment. I think that any and all of you mothers out there can sort of understand what I'm going through at the moment. I lay awake at night praying. I also get weepy during the day when I think of how valiant he was and why this had to happen to him. But I truly do have faith this will get better.
*

Then last friday morning Love Bunny told me he was experiencing vision problems since the day before—bright flashes of light in his left eye. I told him to get into QuickCare asap and he was over there by 8 am. They set him up with an
ophthalmologist at 3 pm that afternoon and at 4 pm he walked into the house and told me he had to be back at the eye doctor in 25 minutes for emergency surgery. He said I had to go and drive him there and back as if I wouldn't have anyway. *Sigh*........ I take things in stride usually but I thought he was joking. He wasn't! So they lasered a tear in his left retina that afternoon. I could tell after about half of the laser shots that he was hurting badly because he motioned for me to be silent. This man doesn't "hurt" very often, I tell ya!

I then treated him to liver and onions (one of his favorites and I refuse to even be in the same state as liver if I can avoid it, much less COOK the stuff!) at this "restaurant" (using the term loosely as you all can admit being in one of these places at some time in your life! You know the kind of place I mean—where the dust balls hang from the ceiling and the waitresses call you "honey" and do everything but burp ya and you're afraid they might even try that!) for being so brave having his eye beeped with 183 laser "shots." He was grateful because I absolutely hate going into this cheap greasy place to eat. But I thought he deserved it! Men tend to want their mummies and wives with them at times like this and we mummies and wives certainly want to BE there at times like this.

Is life ever going to get back to an even keel around this house?!!?! Hmmmmm??
~*~

I put the sheers back out on the patio. (Will I ever get this backyard like I want it?!?!?) Then I decided to put some strings of lights I have around the poles and light it up back there for a more romantic feel. And we alllllll know how I feel about romantic feel! Yes, it turned out quite well I think. Oh, it's not like those fancy homes that have gobs of money to have it done professionally but it does serve the purpose I wanted.

I think the azalea survived the winter in the family room but not so sure about the hibiscus and bougainvillea in the front yard that Love Bunny had under some of those styrofoam things you get at WM or Home Depot. We'll see, but they look a bit pathetic when he uncovered them yesterday.

Squeeeeeeeeal!!! With the lights on last night. I love the feel they give the patio.
