Pink Corner Shelf Redo

I got an email from a lady in Texas who said that her mother-in-law and I were the only 2 people she knew who had a "dislike" list and tripe was on it!! I had to laugh. If you're clueless, scroll down my blog and on the left side you'll see "things I'm not too fond of"– read it and you'll understand. In fact, I doubt most people read the sidebars on blogs. I do!!

I couldn't help myself; I had to paint it white. The pepto-bismol pink color was a tad too much for me. Oh, I love that color, just wasn't sure I wanted that strong a color on such a big piece of furniture in my room. So I repainted it this morning. I can add some decals later, but I had to do this quickly since we leave for Calif. tomorrow morning. Hubs will be pleased I think.

I'll also be posting from the road! Hey, I can't let all you sweet little chickees down, can I?!?! Hah..... Maybe I'll post my daughter's house and my son's house or some fabulous shop I may stop at along the way. That is if I can get Love Bunny to stop long enough. It's usually stop for gas, hurry to the bathroom, grab a bite and eat in the car so we can get there! We don't have the kids crying any more for dad to stop so they can go potty. Now it's ME crying with my face drawn back like we're at mach 10 speed driving through the Nevada desert to stop for a potty break! Well, at least it smoothes out the wrinkles!

Then while putting away a freshly ironed tablecloth, I spied these little salt and pepper shakers. Now, I believe in having shakers in 3 places when I have company - one set in the middle of the table and 1 set on one corner and the last set on the opposite corner. That way no one has to say "please pass the salt and pepper"!! I told you I'm OCD about things and the comfort of people in my home is upper most in my mind when they visit. But aren't they cute? I have 4 set though purchased many years ago. So I'm going to list these on the selling blog – La Maison Rose. Oh, and some of you may notice I added some "grass" to the other little pedestals. I think it looks kinda neat!

What I Found Today!

Hubs told me to go have the tires rotated today for our drive down to California on friday. Now, I hate tire stores!! Oh, they're always super nice and have free popcorn available - all you want to eat. But it's the smell; I hate that smell!! But I did what he asked because I don't want to make my Love Bunny mad because I was on a mission today - TO SPEND MONEY!!! Serves him right for putting this chore on my shoulders, right?!?!

Well, squueeeeeeal, look what I found. The vintage looking towel holder - not sure if it is actually vintage, but it sure looks it - will do nicely in the guest bath. (Shhhhh, it's hidden behind that door now. He'll never notice! We KNOW this, don't we?!?!

Then the pepto-bismol shelf??? Oh, I love it, but I may paint it a lighter pink and then white and sand a bit to make it a bit chippy - chippier than it is actually.

Then the tablecloth........aaaaaah sigh, I have one already but I've cut into it to make pillows. It is my all time favorite tablecloth and I just love it. Well, imagine my surprise when they had one in this antique store today. My heart fluttered a bit and I calmly put it on the counter.....aaaaaacckkkkk, I just now remembered I forgot to take my camera to share this place with you little chicks!!!! What was I thinking??? Well, NOT thinking is more like it!! So sorry. I may have to go back just to take pix. It's nothing fantastic, but some neat stuff in there. Anyway, I bought the tablecloth and it will NOT be cut up. I intend to use it on my new white table!!

Oooh, did I forget to mention that I am definitely going to paint our bedroom and dining room oak table white??? Love Bunny doesn't know it yet and we're not gonna tell him, are we?!?!?! He has a trip to Orlando scheduled for august and it just might "turn white" during that trip!! Hmmmm, funny how those things kinda work out, huh??? But then we KNOW he'll never notice, right??!?!! Things have a way of working themselves out.....with a little help from the wife. *Chuckle* ;-) :-)

Tips for Frames and Mats & a Remodel

I've been very busy the last few days - painting frames and ugly mats which had a hideous color on them. Yes, you can paint mats. Just do it "drily" and don't get the mats too wet. I wouldn't do it if I was going to sell it but for my own use I would. Nuuuuuu, don't do it to a picture with value to it because it would probably devalue, it but to one that isn't much more than eye candy for you, it would be fine.

Two little clothespin bags I did today also.

Here's the remodel we hope to get done this summer. I'm dreading the plaster dust all over the house but it gives me more wall space and I definitely need that, my sweet chicks!! :-)

Vintage Chippy Spice Rack

WOW! A sweet aussie chick came up with a grand idea and it's doable! The lettering can be changed so I can add the world "Glitter" if you want for all you "glitter bugs"! If you buy it the choice is yours what you want on there: Spices or Glitter or whatever you want that will fit in that space!!!.

Isn't this cute? I was going to keep it but I looked around my kitchen and there was absolutely no place for it! I'm disappointed but I'll sell it on my other blog - La Maison Rose.

I call my kitchen, actually my whole house, a "senior" house, my little cherubs, because the kitchen barely accommodates 2 of us and I usually throw hubs out! It's a good size, just not the type for 2 cooks and you KNOW who stays!!! The "primary prep area" is in the corner and the dishes/glasses are above that. We just get in each other's way. I'm truly trying to figure out how to remedy this problem. Nuuuuuuu, I ain't let "the hubs" cook! Have you ever heard of "scrapple"??!!! Well, he likes that stuff and we can't get it out here in the west. It's a Pennsylvania "specialty" and I use that term verrrrry loosely!!! And he'd completely destroy my stove!

If anyone can think of any other use for it, I might just keep it, but I put "Spices" on it!! Aaaarrrghh....... Grumble, grumble............

Tickled Pink!

I'm just tickled pink over what I finally got in the mail today! Three little metal lacy looking pedestals for showing off pretty things. Take a look at what I selected to put in them in the first picture, my sweet little chickadees. Plus they were on sale for an absolute "steal"!

Plus I walked over to a neighbor's garage sale this weekend and she gave me those little salt and pepper shakers on the right side! We'd given her a big "pine-type" tree; at least, I think it's pine. Something like a Scotch pine only the needles aren't quite as long. Anyway, it was too close to our house and couldn't find any place else to put it and I wasn't too keen on that tree anyway - not much shade. So we asked them and they were thrilled to put it in their back yard. So she brought down a "pink" lily a few days ago and then these salt and pepper shakers. I've painted them pink and just may put them in my store. They are very pretty and elegant looking but I truly don't need any more!

Then I just wanted to show you the little tag tree with some pretty silk roses in it. I might do something else also, just not quite sure yet.

Plus I gotta tell you chickadees that I finally couldn't stand it any more!! I finally told hubby to look at the LR window and see if he noticed anything different. I knew from the look on that face that it was one of "let's not play this game again" looks, so I told him I liked him better when he drank! Puzzled, he looked at me. I said "you were more chuckly when you had a scotch and water." I guess it kind of sobered him a bit because he then chuckled. I'm just a wild and craaazzzzy gal!!!! Anyway, he didn't notice so I told him about the curtains. He just doesn't notice and I think I'd better give up before he tosses me out into the front fountain or I "toss my cookies" from suspense! Oh, we gave up the little alcohol we DID drink when we joined the church. Nuuuuuu, we're not alcoholics and never were unless you consider 3 drinks a year for me and 1 drink a month for him.
