Under My Sink - a Horror Story!

First of all, read down for the giveaway to be drawn saturday morning!!!!

Look what came in the mail today! A little roses vanity tray. Isn't it beautiful? I think I'll put my hand creams and lotions on it. I have a plethora of lotions and creams!

My sweet chicks, I'm shameless! Yesssssss, shameless to show you the condition I've let this abode decline to in the past year! I'm showing you photos of it today but tomorrow - or maybe tonight - I'm delving in and cleaning under those bathroom sinks. I can't find a thing under there. I don't see how I can frou-frou them up but I can at least straighten them up. Sheeeesh.......it's a wonder hubby is still with me. This is a man who "spit shines" the bathroom fixtures for me. Yes, "spit shines"! That is a holdover from his Marine Corps days. I can't paint under there but I'll think of something to frou-frou it up..........I hope!

Anyway, I'll definitely get right on it. I have already put the clothes seen on the floor in the last photo in a box for Deseret Industries thrift shop. The sandals I've had for 25 years and are falling apart are now in the trash bin also. When I can't find my makeup it's time to "clean"!

Oh, and what does that first picture of lettuce have to do with anything??? Absolutely nothing. I just found it so green and gorgeous when I was washing it to have for dinner tonight that I had to share. Is there anything prettier than red leaf lettuce?

Connie's Giveaway for Today!

I am sooooo sorry this is being put in late but no matter. Not a good day at my doctor's office to have stitches removed. What should have been a fifteen minute "snip" appointment took 2 hours!! That really frosted my cookies because we had other plans that could not be put aside. But that will NOT ruin the rest of my day!!

Okay, my sweet chickadees, here is what I'm giving away today. I woke up and thought about doing this but didn't have anything especially "special" to give away, but here it is. Now, the only - and I mean ONLY - thing you have to do is post a comment here. The names will then be put in a hat and drawn on saturday morning. Be sure and leave me your email, if I don't already have it, so I can email you!!!!!

The above photo is all of it. Explanation follows below each photo.

A sweet silk rose in a dusky pink to do with as you please. Place it under a dome or in a cup with some faux grass or pin to a jacket or blouse.

A simple handful of buttons can brighten my day. I love little buttons to decorate with.

This is a sweet little chick for hanging. I call her Mortie. Yep, love that cute little name.

A postcard of a view of a lake with sailboats from a porch with a wicker rocker. Lighthouse is on there also and a pot of flowers. Just to hang somewhere for those who don't get to oceans, lakes, streams or ponds very often. Or you could frame it as I've done with many, many of mine.

This looks like a simple vial, but let me tell you it isn't! It is filled with the luscious fragrance of the Hawaiian islands - plumeria. If you've never smelled it you are in for a treat. It will fragrance a room for months.

I took a sachet of this to my surgeon's office and Debbie, his nurse, says it smells up the whole examining room! And let me tell you it can definitely get "odorous" in there!!

A handful of pale green ribbons. Fun to craft with or just toss in a pretty glass container and feast your eyes on them.

A handful of lovely little pink ribbon roses. Again, toss into a glass container and enjoy the view!

A handful of pale pink ribbons to craft with also or........well, you get the point by now, right??!!!?

And lastly, a sachet fragranced with this wonderful plumeria fragrance.

Giveaway!!!!

Miss Apple Cheek!!

A giveaway is coming up later today. Have to run and have the doctor take out these stitches in my hand. But when I return I'm doing a giveaway. I think you'll enjoy what I'm going to show you! Hah.......

"Organizing"!!!

YELLLLLLLLLL!!!! I've been organizing this room for weeks - no probably months!!!! I just can't seem to get it right. Every time I do something and go back in a few days later I see where I should make changes. I'm sure this is a complaint unique to ME!! No one ever has this problem, right???!!! Hah.

So Love Bunny and I went to Home Depot and WM yesterday and today and I found a couple of magazines on organizing!!!!!!! Can you believe that?!?! My prayer was answered. I haven't set down to read it yet as I've been painting a shelf and a frame for a picture. Read below the pix of each one............

Magazine I found and intend to read as soon as I get off of this computer.....

This is a little picture I intend to frame also, just have to FIND one to fit it.

Pause for digression here....... I received these little blue tags, blue seam binding and fringe in the mail from Nan at Linens and Laurel and I believe in helping sweet chicks who are trying to make their websites profitable. So go and visit her and I'm sure she'll sell you whatever you want!! :-) I'd never seen colored tags before (I don't get out much because I'm always on this computer!!! Oooops, sorry, Max, didn't mean it. Max is the name of my computer. I do love ya, Max!!!) Anyway when the package arrived and I opened it up the fringe looked kinda funny but when I pulled it out of the package I was fabulously delighted!! It is the cutest fringe I think I've ever had. Fuchsia and soft and just "different."

This is picture I framed with an old ugly dark wood frame and decided it needed a little pizzazzing up so I painted it white. Much much better. Ooooh, did I mention what these actually are???? Well, they are calendar pictures. YESSSSSSSSS!!!! Pay for a calendar for the year and you get 12 free pictures to frame! Can't beat that. I've been doing it for about 20 years. You can scan them and adjust the sizes you need if the pix are too big for a frame you might have around the house. The only problem and it's no BIG problem is you have to get the calendars at the end of the year just as they come out because the pretty ones go so fast. I'll buy ones with romantic cottages, doors, roses - just anything I want to frame. Might as well have gorgeous calendars to use and look at through the year than those ugly old things companies give out!

Now, here is what the shelves looked like when I walked out of that room about an hour ago!!! I'm sure the mischievous "organizing fairies" will be about their business tonight and don't expect it to look like this tomorrow. Those are the nastiest little fairies. Know what I mean???!!! Just re-arrange everything during the night or when you aren't really looking! Then you go back in and have to "re-do" EVERYTHING!!!! But, of course, as you can see, I'm really not done. Still more folding and packing into boxes for Love Bunny to put up in the garage attic. I'll bet he'll be just thrilled, don't you??!???!!! Hah Yeah, wanna bet?!!?! *Sigh*..............

I'm Trying to Be the Storage Queen or Please Don't Notice My Dust!!!

I really do have to give credit to a lady that I bought this darling basket from on ebay. Her name is Ellen and I'd suggest you take a look at her items!

Edit: Okay the Flickr photos are ready for y'all to view, all you lovely chicks! Just go to my storage solutions by clicking HERE. I heard a quote many, many years ago and it stuck with me. I'm paraphrasing but it goes something like this: Don't have anything in your home that isn't useful or that you don't consider beautiful. That's been my mottos for 47 years of marriage. Your home is your celestial place on earth. Enjoy!
~*~

I know, I know, but I'm working as fast as I can, chickadees!! Yes, I'm participating in the Show and Tell Sunday but I just heard about it.....yeah, I know, I've seen it advertised but it didn't HIT me until the last second. I've getting some photos ready and will post back on here in an hour or so. There are so many that I'm uploading them to Flickr with comments for ya.

I am not usually like this but things have gotten away from me the last week with the surgery on my hand. "Stop whining", you say. Okay, let me get to work on this. Just a sample of what is to come. Trust me, there will be a lot of photos! Oooooh, and don't look at the dust on the lids of the boxes either. Promise????

Hubby was in the Marine Corps and this is a "field desk." I use it for stereo equipment. Paint it white, throw a pretty cloth over it and voilà, it's an end table and FREE!

See all that "stuff" in there - completely hidden, yep! Who woulda guessed?!?!

End table, right??!!! Nope. The kids bought us a television because we stopped watching television about 20 years ago. They wanted one when they came to visit so they could bring their DVDs so they bought it when they flew up here a couple of years ago. It won't go up into the attic over the garage so what was I going to do with it??? Put some surplus plywood left over from hubby's new "train room" he made in the 3rd car garage, throw a cover over it and voilà, it's an end table! Dilemma solved with a creative solution. It only comes out about once or twice a year when they visit!

See. Thought I was kidding, huh?!?! Hah.

This little jewel was hubby's foot locker in boot camp! Now??? Full of old blankets. Paint it white and throw the pillows from the bed on it every night and voilà, it's NOT an end table, but a catchall!!
